Chapter 10 Embarrassing Moment

I inhaled fresh air into my nostrils. My body revitalized and felt light. Hearing a sound near me, I was grateful that I wasn't dead. The witch blew a lot of wolfsbanes into my nose and I inhaled it through my mouth. So, I was lucky.

"Are you sure she's okay?" someone asked worriedly. "Why hasn't she regained consciousness yet? Please reexamine her condition."

"Her Royal Highness will wake up when she's ready, Alpha. Her breathing and pulse are normal, and there is no organ damage from the wolfsbane," another person said in a comforting tone. "Don't forget. She's a royal Lycan. She recovers faster than we do."

"Don't forget. Her twin sister died from a rogue attack. So, you can't underestimate the enemy or glorify her condition as a royal Lycan." I recognized that voice, Alpha Boaz.

Strange. Why can't I smell his distinctive scent? He gave off the fragrance of grass in the morning mixed with intoxicating sandalwood. Yet I smelled nothing but his signature scent that I recognized, his aftershave and cologne.

'You're ruining our sense of smell by inhaling too much wolfsbane,' Ice complained.

'Oh, I'm sorry,' I regretted.

'Don't worry about it. Our sense of smell will be restored shortly. Just be careful. I'm resting to recover faster,' she retreated.

I was such a fool. I had harmed myself. Had I not let my emotions take control, I could have thought clearly and called for help. I could have fought that witch had I concentrated.

"I'm fine," I muttered. I opened my eyes and saw the man standing near me. There was only a woman in a white coat beside him. She must be a doctor. I looked around me. "Where am I?"

"You're in the hospital. Are you sure you're okay? No part of your body hurts?" Alpha Boaz bombarded me with questions.

I tried to sit up. When Alpha Boaz reached out to help, I refused. "This woman is right. I'm a royal Lycan. So, I recover faster." Gosh. I was pathetic for passing out on my first day in a new place.

"Is that why you didn't shout for help when there was an intruder in your room?" he grumbled. "Two guards were at your door. You could have called your servants with the mind link if you didn't trust them. But you chose to deal with it yourself."

"Alpha, you need to calm down. She just woke up," the doctor admonished. She approached me, so Alpha Boaz relented by giving her space. "Your Royal Highness, I request permission to examine your condition."

"Please," I replied.

She checked my pulse, had me take a breath as she placed the stethoscope on my back, and had me move my fingers and toes. I could do all of her commands without any problems or pain. Thank goodness.

"Royal Lycan is great. The werewolf must have been seriously ill and had to be treated for days if she inhaled that much wolfsbane." She looked at me with admiration. "Alright. You can go home."

"Are you serious?" Alpha Boaz asked. "You didn't give her any medicine? What if she gets sick? Our wedding is just around the corner, Doc."

I touched his hand, helping to calm him down. "I'm fine, Alpha Boaz."

The doctor looked at us in turn and then chuckled. "I'm going to check on my other patients. Take care, Your Royal Highness," the woman said politely.

Alpha Boaz gave me a sharp look. "Why didn't you call anyone?"

I sighed. "I called my servants through the mind link, but it didn't work. When I was about to call the guard at the door, the witch silenced my mouth with her magic. She froze my body, and I couldn't move."

"Witch?" He frowned. "What did she look like?"

"She's gorgeous and about twenty-five years old. Her face is flawless, with sharp black eyes, a straight nose, and thin lips. She has black hair and fair skin. She wears a purplish-black robe, similar to the purple color of your pack."

"Lamia Maggs." Alpha Boaz growled in annoyance.

"You know her?" I asked.

"She is the witch who cursed my pack. What did she want from you?"

I considered whether I should tell him the truth or keep quiet. I didn't know if that woman was holding back the real Celyn or just an illusion. The witch didn't give me a chance to talk to the person on her magic wall.

"She forbade me to marry you," I lied.

Alpha Boaz tilted his head. "Is that all?" He sighed in annoyance after I nodded. "Damn it! She was nearby, but I didn't know she was coming."

He looked around, then fell silent. Seeing that his eyes were misty, he must have been talking to someone via mind link. He turned to me and invited me to follow him. We left the room.

The hospital corridor was spotless and quiet. His people must be healthy. There weren't many patients who needed medical treatment. Meanwhile, the central hospital received patients not only from the capital city but also from other regions.

People who passed us on the side of the road greeted us kindly. I was glad their attitude towards me hadn't changed from when I had just arrived. I let out a long breath. Would they hate me if I complied with the witch's threat?

"We don't have much time. You should get ready soon." Alpha Boaz entered the packhouse and rushed up the stairs.

"Wait. Did I pass out all night?" I asked incredulously.

"You should be critical for a week with the amount of wolfsbane powder in your room. So, sleeping through the night was a miracle." He turned to the left when we reached the third floor. "Something bad happened yesterday afternoon."

He told me about the Rogues who attacked us this afternoon. The bodies of those in the mortuary and the two captives in the dungeon disappeared without a trace. They were investigating what caused their security system not to detect it.

"The witch who came to my room used something like a water wall as a way in. Maybe all the Rogues were taken away in the same way." I remembered the important thing.

"A wall of water?" Boaz stopped in front of my room. "That's impossible. Our security system can detect magic. She couldn't have gotten in with her sorcery... Shit! We're in danger!"
