Chapter 4 Sparkling Moment

As night fell, Ethan couldn't sleep, his mind racing with thoughts of Emily's bright smile and sparkling eyes. He stepped outside into the cool night air, seeking solace in the stillness. Finding his grandmother in her favorite book, he asked, 'Grandma, I couldn't sleep

Mia smiled knowingly. 'What's on your mind, dear?'

Ethan hesitated. 'The girl who delivered the cake...Emily. What's her story?'

Mia patted the seat beside her. 'Come, sit down, I don't know much about her, she only helped me with arrangements for the surprise party that's all she said her name was Emily Brooks earlier"

"Brooks that name seems familiar is she the daughter of Lucas Brooks the man with the biggest shareholding in our company Grandma? Ethan replied as he sat close to his grandma. " I don't think to say Lucas has much money to get his daughter's needs than letting her be a delivery girl," Mia said as she turned her head back to her book

"Why so curious all of a sudden about a girl" Mia added "Nothing ma just wanted to know," Ethan said as he turned to leave "Should I bring her to the house again maybe I order something" Mia said turning to look at her grandson " yes please I will be so happy if you could do that" Ethan replied immediately and smiled Mia's eyes widened in surprise. 'Suddenly, my son who doesn't talk to a girl or even smile at one is suddenly interested in one!' She chuckled "No granny I just want to know more about her," Ethan said as he walked to his room smiling

Early the next morning With a spring in her step, Emily headed to work, still beaming about the handsome guy she met yesterday, and her delight doubled when she received an order from Miss Thompson, giving her an excuse to see him again. She smiled to herself "Meeting him again my good-looking man" she smiled again "And why is she smiling" Regina who was Emily's co-worker at work asked "Nothing" Emily said still smiling " hope you will share the good news with me" I Regina said while counting out the orders they had.

Just as Emily was lost in thoughts of Ethan, she glanced at the clock and realized it was already time to leave for her delivery at Thompson's house "Had the morning hours flown by that quickly?" she said to herself as she quickly packed up her order and left for the delivery.

As she arrived at the house, Emily rang the bell, and to her delight, Ethan answered the door, their eyes locking in a sparkling moment of mutual gaze before they exchanged warm smiles and finally, a gentle handshake. " let her in please" Mia said while walking toward them she collected the package from Emily's hand who was lost staring at Ethan's face. " I will take it inside for you ma," Emily said as she smiled collected the bag from Mia's hand, and went inside. They all went inside "You can have your sit" Mia said pointing to a seat close to Ethan " I will be going upstairs to get something give me a minute" Mia added as she left them alone.

As she left, silence was palpable, a heavy stillness that hung in the air like an unspoken question, and for over a minute, nobody said a word, Emily's heart racing with a mix of excitement and nervousness, her mind a jumble of thoughts, yet unable to form a single coherent sentence, her body betraying her emotions with a telltale tremble, a subtle stream of sweat trickling down her spine, a clear sign of her longing to connect with him, but unsure of how to bridge the gap and initiate a conversation. Ethan broke the silence "Are you the daughter of Lucas Brooks" "No I'm not just a delivery girl" replied Emily sharply. the silence between them grew thicker until Ethan finally broke the spell by standing up, his sudden proximity making Emily's heart skip a beat, as he drew closer, she felt a flutter in her chest, a mix of excitement and unease, her body tense, her feet rooted to the spot, unsure of how to react, yet unable to step back, as if some invisible strings held her in place, her mind racing with a single thought - he's too close, yet not close enough. "I hope I'm not making you feel uncomfortable," said Ethan looking closely at Emily "You are not " replied Emily with a soft tone. The gentle cadence of her voice was like a siren's call, drawing Ethan in, making him helpless to resist the depths of her eyes, which sparkled like diamonds in the light, her attractiveness growing with each passing moment, as he felt an unfamiliar flutter in his chest, a sensation he'd never experienced before, yet couldn't deny, his heart beating in tandem with hers, as he leaned in closer, the air thickening with tension, until he could feel her warmth, her heartbeat pounding against his, like a drumbeat in his soul, he couldn't withdraw from her

I hope I didn't interrupt a lovely moment," Grandma said with a knowing smile, as she walked into the room, her eyes twinkling with delight, sensing the electric atmosphere, where love seemed to vibrate in every molecule, and Ethan and Emily stood poised on the precipice of a kiss, their lips almost touching, their hearts suspended in anticipation. Once again the atmosphere was silent until Emily broke it

" I should be going, it's already late," Emily stammered, her voice trembling like a leaf, as she nervously glanced at her watch, her forehead beading with sweat, her body language screaming that she desperately needed to escape, to flee from the intense emotions that threatened to overwhelm her, to break free from the magnetic pull of Ethan's gaze, which held her captive, making it hard for her to breathe, to think, to Move.
