"Okay, gotta get those groceries quick" I muttered to myself as I walked to the supermarket. I was worried about Emma's safety. She is the only friend I have, well not really, but she is more than a friend to me more like my sister. We had met each other in high school. I was a school bully, can you believe it? Yeah. I was a school bully, and seeing a new student who looked timid, I felt I should bully her too.
"Hey, new kid"
"Y..yes" she had looked up at me, scared in her oversized shoes and clothes looked a bit worn out.
"Let me see what's in the bag" I demanded.
"Okay"
"What! Nothing!" Her bag was empty, no food, no books.
"I..I'm sorry...I don't usually get lunch until I get home" she had replied in a timid voice. For the first time in my life, I didn't want to bully someone, so I had taken her with me and gotten her lunch. That was how our friendship grew, she would tutor me with my studies and I would get her food, soon we became inseparable till this point. I have seen her ups and downs and so she has seen mine. So as far as I was concerned, we were more than just friends. Which is why I must keep that bastard away from her, at all cost. So the sooner I get these groceries, the soonet I get home.
I quickly reached the supermarket and started picking what we needed.
"...milk, butter, oooh i need sardines too. Some meat. And oh my gosh! Yes, cheese balls" I gushed out as I hurried to the cheese balls shelf. There was only one bag remaining. I reached out my hands eagerly to get it when....
"Hey!" A large hand closed over mine, I turned in annoyance to see the offender.
"Whoa!" I gasped in wonder. There was a tall man behind me, he had wide shoulders but he wasn't taller than Maximus, maybe they were the same height. He had short brown hair and his deep black eyes stared down at me, his lips looked plump and juicy, I was already getting attracted to him.
"Let go" the man grunted.
I blinked in confusion, "huh?"
"I said let go, this packet is mine"
"No, I got here first, so you should let go" I argued.
He frowned at me, okay scratch that. I was so totally not attracted to this guy.
"My hands grabbed it first"
"Haha. Liar, you can see from the way your hands are over mine, it means I grabbed it first"
"Who can see that" he immediately turned my hand over and placed his hand directly onto the packet, I was enraged.
"Hey, that's cheating. Let go of this packet" I dragged the packet to myself.
"No, its not. You let go." He refused
"I said I won't let you, this cheeseball packet is mine. Mine" I snarled
"Lady, why can't you get another one and leave this first me?"
I laughed, "You have got to be kidding me. Are you blind?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Well I'm sure that if you were not blind you would be able to see that THERE ARE NO MORE PACKETS" I bellowed.
He glanced around in realization, I shook my head at his stupidity.
"Right", he still held on, "Still, I want this. "
"No, I want it. Can't you try to be chivalrous, I'm a woman so you should leave it to me."
"Nope" he shook his head obstinately, "Chivary is dead when it comes to me and my cheese balls, so forget it"
"You...you are so annoying" I groaned.
"Excuse me. Is everything okay" one of the store attendants asked as he had noticed our commotion was becoming a bit loud.
"No, everything is not okay" I screamed
"Okay ma'am what seems to be the problem.?"
"I'm a miss not a ma'am" I snapped.
The attendant raised his hands in apology, "I'm sorry, miss what seems to be the problem"
"Well you see..." The man tried to answer.
"I was the one who was asked so shut it" I cut him off, "...I came here before this man to get this packet of cheeseballs but he claims to have been here before me and now he won't let go of the packet"
"No, I grabbed it first, she is the one who just won't let go".
"Aren't you ashamed that a big guy like you is fighting with a woman over cheese balls.?" I taunted.
He shrugged, "I don't care, I love my cheeseballs"
The store attendant seemed flustered and was at a loss of what to do. It was sure a weird sight to see two grown adults fighting over something as meager as cheeseballs, but to me it was more than just the cheeseballs. I wanted to spite him, to taunt him that I can get whatever I wanted.
"Erm, ma'am I mean miss and sir, if you guys could just forget about the cheese balls..."
"No!"
"No!"
We both answered at the same time as we stared daggers at each other.
"Let go" I gritted out.
"No, I won't" he replied.
We began a tug of war, furiously dragging at the packet.
"Please, you guys have to be careful or the packet might burst" the attendant warned.
"Tell that to him"
"You too"
'Riiip'
'Splat'
We stared in horror as the packet burst open and rained on our bodies and the floor.
"It was your fault" I spat out as I looked at the cheeseballs forlornly. The man said nothing and simply left. I was no longer in the mood to shop anymore so I left.
"Idiot, stupid. He could have left the cheeseballs to me. Now its gone" I muttered to myself. Then suddenly I was splashed with a great amount of water on my body, apparently there was a big puddle in the road and a car had just whizzed past me, causing me to be sprayed with dirty water.
"Hey!" I tried to chase the car but then I fell down on a mud puddle, I lay in shock as I could feel the slimy and yucky mud splash all over me.
"Arrrgh" I screamed out in horror.
The car stopped and out came that man from the supermarket, he stared at me then he grinned and drove away. But not before I grabbed a fair sized stone and hurled it at the car. I grinned in satisfaction as I heard the sound of glass breaking. Then I broke into a run. I could only go home in anger and shame. Slamming the door open I yelled,
"I will kill him" Just let me find him. Then I noticed there was another presence in the house. Emma sat huddled with a big coat over her while Mr Star knelt beside her. She looked distraught, my anger forgotten, I asked.
"What happened?"
