Chapter 5 Hidden Secrets

As Niya served food for them, Rebecca's mouth watered anticipating how the food would taste like Kilian couldn't believe how such a girl could behave like this, he knew girls from rich family to behave all sophisticated but Rebecca was absolutely different. When Rebecca felt as if someone was looking at her she stopped looking at the food and turned to the eye that continuously kept staring at her. "Why do you keep staring at me?", She asked, perplexed because as far as she knew she had nothing on her face so it was quite odd for Kilian to be staring at her.

"Oh please just shut up and eat your food", Kilian was quick to shut her up before she started squabbling over something so little, with a huff Rebecca could only ignore him and continue eating her food. After dinner, Kilian had something to do and he didn't want his wife poking into his business after all, she didn't know that there was a connection between him and the underworld. Rebecca laid on the couch in the sitting room. She was too full to walk up to her room right now. So she just stayed in the large living room watching a program but after a while she got bored and she looked around the sitting room noticing that her husband was nowhere to be found. "Where could that annoying man have gone?", She asked no one in particular but Niya, who was basically cleaning the sofas, heard her, so she turned and answered, " The master went up to study, you can go see him there if you want". Rebecca wanted to go check what kilian was doing but she decided not to since it was her first day here and being a virgin, she doesn't want to give her virginity to a man who doesn't love her and he's using her for the benefits of his father's company. So she decided to retire to bed going up to her room, as she laid on the bed, her mind could only drift back to her mother wondering how she was faring right now. She fetched her old phone that had a cracked screen from under her pillow and she called through the contacts, seeing Philip's number she immediately dialed it. "Oh look the newly wedded wife is calling", Philip said, his voice lays with mockery and disdain, Rebecca couldn't care less about the type of time he used to address her. "And if I may ask, why are you calling me by this time of the night don't you have some white fluid duties to perform rather than disturbing an already married man, your stepmother would be thinking I'm cheating on her rather my unfilial daughter is busy calling me", Philip said with a sneer, as Rebecca could only roll her eyes after all she put herself in this position and she was glad that she had finally gotten out of the clutches of poverty and her mother was finally getting treated, speaking of her mother that was the reason why she was calling this ungrateful man in the first place. "I don't care whatever you think about me right now, I'm just calling you regarding my mother", Rebecca said as Philip let out a slight hum in response to it. "Yes and what about Milan?", Phillip asked, sounding serious all of a sudden. Rebecca's face palmed as if he didn't know why she was calling him. It was obvious that she was calling him regarding her mother's case because on a normal day she wouldn't call him for any reason entirely. "How is my mother doing?, and can I come see her tomorrow maybe to check up on her to avoid thinking I have abandoned her or something?", Rebecca asks as Philip could only grunt in response to what she has just said. "You just got married today I sent some of my people over yesterday to come pick her up after you had signed the agreement but I didn't say you could see her and besides I am not a supposed to be found talking to you over the phone right now, you are a married woman do your damn job", Philip said immediately hanging up on Rebecca, she tried dialing the number again but it didn't go through so she gave up. She finally decided to retire to bed and in the morning she might have to go find a job because this fortress was too big for only her to live in all alone and not doing anything. The next morning, Rebecca woke up feeling refreshed and thoroughly rested. She slept like a newborn baby and she was happy about that. Getting up, she checked the time and saw it was 10:00am which was not the time she usually got up when she still lived with her mom but she was enjoying it. Rebecca quickly entered the bathroom as she washed up as water wind down her back. She couldn't help but imagine what would have happened if Kilian had decided for them to get intimate last night. After showing she picked out a set of red lingerie as she applied some skincare products, patting on her skin. She picked out a black sundress and matching sandals to go with it, her hair was pulled into a messy bun. After she finished up the look with some Dior perfume smiling at herself she quickly made her way downstairs to avoid Killian getting mad at her for coming down for breakfast late. As she walked past one of the rooms she could hear voices coming from inside. "What do you mean the cartels got stolen?", Killian asks frustratedly as he banged his fist on the table, Rebecca couldn't help but eavesdrop on whatever discussion they were having inside that room. "It wasn't my fault Don, we were outnumbered and they managed to take all the goods from us, we are really sorry", the person says as Killian groaned, he could only rub on his temple. "This is a mafia clan, you can't just do things any way you like, try to find out who exactly stole them and get back to me", Killian said as the second person talking to him nodded in understanding. Rebecca heard the door open so she quickly hit behind a curtain as a man stepped out before walking away. Don?, wasn't Don like in mafias? So was Killian in a mafia, she thought but she didn't notice that Killian was right in front of her.
