SOMEWHERE IN NEW JERSEY

Lexa walked into the sitting room tiredly and threw her blue purse on the couch.

" Yo baby! you're back? Did you succeed in

bringing your mom over to New Jersey?" Evelyn asked, coolly as she dust the big flat screen hung on the wall.

Lexa nodded, slowly and threw herself on the couch,

" She is finally here in New Jersey, Benedict had managed to look for a small apartment for her, at least I'll be able to watch her from afar " Lexa mumbled and yawned, hungrily.

" How is her health? Can she talk now? " Evelyn asked, curiously.

Lexa let out a sad sigh, "She still can't talk.... even after spending all my life savings on her just for the doctors to look for a way to make her speak again...." Lexa mumbled and sniffed.

" Anyway I will still save more again... i want to hear her talk"

" You want to do what Lexa?! For years now you have been spending all your damn hard earned money on your mom just to make her talk but nothing has been working out, no progress, she is still dumb as how she was! Don't you think it's suspicious??

Lexa you even ran away with the Martinez company funds just to treat your mom, In the end she still can't talk! Look I hate all this shit, do not be blinded by her innocent facade! I have a feeling that your mom is more than what people and you think she is! " Evelyn retorted, sharply and scoffed.

Lexa sighed, "Look Evelyn, my mom is very special to me...she's not pretending...i didn't really ran away with the company funds, it wasn't me...a tragic incident occurred at that time..."

" Then if it wasn't you who was it?! Like seriously? before you did quit from the Martinez company, you wrote them a letter, telling them that you were the one who stole from the company and that you did it because you needed money for your mom's treatment..."

Evelyn uttered, annoyed.

" Oh...you knew.." Lexa blurted out, lowly.

" Why won't I know when the whole of England knows about it?! It was all over the news, if you go over to England, am not really sure if you would come back alive because you committed a big crime and offense by running away with people's sweat, life savings! hard earned money! you're doomed Lexa! " Evelyn creamed and rolled her eyes.

" I didn't do it...there are other things involved.... he...."

" What are the things involved?! What happened that night?! tell me Lexa, I want to know. You don't want to open up to me, am your best friend!" Evelyn retorted, angrily. Alright she was fed up!

Lexa shut her eyes tight and the tragic incident that night, years ago replayed in her head, she shivered in fear and her eyes snapped open,

" That night....i was being chased by.... "

Lexa was saying but paused when her phone dinged, she took the phone with her shaky hand and read the message,

Lexa shook in fear and the phone slipped from her hand and fell on the floor with a loud crashing sound.

How come...? It has been years...

why are they still watching her??

Lexa thought as she glanced at everywhere still shaking with fear.

Evelyn furrowed her brows confused.

" Lexa...are you okay? why are you–

Evelyn was saying but paused as she picked up Lexa's phone from the ground but Lexa quickly snatched it from her grip, harshly.

" Don't you ever touch my phone again!" Lexa rasped she glanced around fearfully and quickly dashed towards her room.

Evelyn felt hurt, she bit down hard on her lips and sank her fingers into her brown curly hair.

" This shit is getting outta hand... what is wrong with Lexa?? " She mumbled, softly and shook her head.

The next day

Inside a small looking restaurant, Lexa washed some heap of plates, lost in thought.

Mara which is Lexa's colleague, ran to her and snapped her fingers, pulling Lexa out of her thoughts.

Lexa jerked back to reality,

" Ugh? what? " Lexa mumbled, absentmindedly.

" Yeesssh! you're lost in thought as always! Anyways look at the TV, our hot billionaire is in town! He's finally arrived in New Jersey! " Mara mumbled and giggled dreamily.

Lexa turned and glanced at the the small looking TV,

" NEWS HEADLINE!!! DARIUS MARTINEZ, POPULARLY KNOWN AS THE MOST RICHEST AND POWERFUL BILLIONAIRE IN THE WHOLE WORLD, JUST ARRIVED IN USA TODAY..... "

A picture of Darius Martinez could be seen as he walked elegantly towards his car, fifty escorts trailing behind him while Tyler walked beside him, their faces hard and expressionless, their eyes cold and devoid of any emotion.

Lexa flinched as fear gripped her, her hands shook tremendously as conniption gripped her tight.

No...what is he doing here in New Jersey...? Has he finally found her..? Oh God...it shouldn't happen...please he can't be after her....

Lexa thought, fearfully and didn't know when three of the glass plates slipped from her hand and crashed down to the floor........
