Chapter 8

1. After dinner, I found an excuse about needing to work overtime and left.

I got paid for overtime, and they were more than happy for me to stay out working late every night, saving on utilities at home.

I turned around and checked into a five-star hotel room costing six thousand a night.

Without wasting any time, I opened my laptop and started drafting a shopping list.

Fifty large barrels of water, fifty cases of small bottled water, two water purifiers.

One hundred pounds of rice, fifty pounds of flour, fifty pounds of mixed grains, twenty pounds of dried noodles.

Oil, salt, vinegar, MSG, soy sauce, cooked fish seasoning packs, pickled fish seasoning packs, hot pot base, chilli sauce, olive vegetables, and other condiments and spices, ten to thirty packs each.

Even in tough times, I wanted to eat well.

I also needed to stock up on potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, onions, taro, yams, peanuts, soybeans, and black beans-foods that could be stored for a while.

One case each of instant noodles, snail noodles, and sour and spicy noodles.

Sixty watermelons.

Three circulating fans.

Two cases of toilet paper and tissue paper each, and one case of tampons.

And a thousand dollars' worth of various snacks.

The next day, I rented a warehouse near the villa and went to a large supermarket. I went straight to the manager, placed the list on the table, and he was so happy he couldn't stop smiling. He immediately arranged for the goods to be delivered to the warehouse.

I then went to a pharmacy to buy common medicines: alcohol, fever reducers, cold medicine, anti-inflammatory drugs, ibuprofen, herbal medicine, thermometers, and so on.

The villa was still under construction, so I temporarily stored the medicines in my hotel room.

Passing by a second-hand store, I saw some shelves outside. I bought them all and stored them in my trunk.

Next, I walked into an appliance store and ordered two large freezers and a large refrigerator.

I also visited an electronics store and bought a laptop with the most storage to download TV shows, movies, variety shows, and documentaries.
