Chapter 5 Formula GIGO

Alex's POV

Why was I feeling remorseful for just raising my voice at her. Fine she's a lady. I agree she's a new friend so what? After all I said those words because she was getting on my nerves.

She left in anger. So what?

She could have locked herself somewhere crying her eyes out. Who cares.

But come to think of it.

I could have just said it was personal. Probably she would have let me be.

I could have even opened up to her

It was during this intercession with my conscience that Kamil tapped me.

"That was a wrong move on your part" Kamil removed his hat.

"Hey she's just a random girl. Would you now scold me because of her." I hissed

"Look, we've been friends since childhood but Ella is the apple of everyone's eye here. She's like a chain that binds us together Me, Tina and Kira. We love and adore her so much. Her fight is our fight.

" Hmm. So you'll choose her over me?"

"Without thinking twice." Kamil confessed

" All this is that old fox's fault. I really didn't mean to be hard on her. I was a bit on the edge. " I sniffed

"So all this was about your dad. You could have said that rather than yell. Anyways get ready to apologise." Kamil instructed

"Aye aye captain." He playfully spanked me on the back and we both went do Music.

Third Person's POV

In the Music arena, everywhere seemed like a graveyard. Everybody was just fumbling with their instruments. The pianist kept missing his notes. The keyboardists were merely hitting rubbish. The vocalists were pitching so much that the Music coach (Master Joshua) became so infuriated.

"Stop!"He shouted.

Silence

" What song did you say you're doing again.? "Sir. J as he like to be called asked.

" Promise " They all chorused.

" So what's this with the beautifully designed nonsense. Ella! Give me the opening note and the vocals. "

No response

" Where's Ella? "He directed the question to nobody in particular.

" She's a bit indisposed at the moment sir. So she couldn't attend classes so as not to affect the class negatively. She sent her apology and promises to deliver in the next class. "Kira volunteered.

"Okay. " He was about searching for another song when Tina raised her hand. "What is it Christina"

"Excuse me sir. May I please use the restroom." Tina requested. Sir J was shocked at first. Tina was never a type to ask for permission to do whatever she wanted to do. She just does it and leaves you to your yells.

"Five minutes." He consented

She wouldn't have stayed if he had said otherwise anyways.

"Me too" Kira and Kamil said almost at the same time.

The whole class burst out laughing

What a plan. He simply smiled and granted them permission

Back to present

After the bell for the last period echoed. The quad left for the last class for the day - Literature in English

Due to the fact that it was the first week, the old woman bored them with review of the previous session's work. While some students slept, some chatted away and others left the class.

Alex saw this as the perfect opportunity to apologize to Ella so he brought out his jptter and scribbled something in it thus

"I know I overreacted the other time but it was born out of frustration. You were only concerned about a friend. I'm really sorry. I hope you find a place in your big heart to forgive me." He then tore out the sheet and passed it to Ella who simply glanced through it and passed it to Kira.

Left to Ella she would have accepted his apology after making him plead a bit but on a second thought if she just accepted his apology and let it slide he can do worse next time.

Kira read the note and blushed she was about to plead with Ella to forgive and forget even Tina picked up the note to read. She then tore out a sheet from her own jotter. And wrote ;

"Nice handwriting! But the apology wasn't profound enough. If you ask me I'll suggest formula GIGO"

Ella read the note and smilerd

Tina wouldn't back down until she gets her own pound of flesh.

She was right though. Garbage In Garbage Out it is then. So she also scribbled her own notes word for word with him and sent it back to him

Alex's POV

I was relieved to see Ella and the other three return for literature class. Only God knows where they were. Sam and I had searched for them at the pool, the sick bay and even the sports arena but to no avail.

I flashed a smile but she didn't even look my way.

I then later decided to write an apology note that said "I know I overreacted the other time but it was born out of frustration. You were only concerned about a friend. I'm really sorry. I hope you find a place in your big heart to forgive me."

I passed it to her but was hurt when she dispatched it to her friends. She eventually sent me a reply note and I anticipated a" It's no biggie. I forgive you. "

Not that fast Alex.

I was welcomed by my exactly same words in a different handwriting.

Now I'm confused, surprised and astounded all at the same time. Just then, Mrs Stone's class came to an end.

I tapped Kamil to show him the note. Let's see if he had an idea of what she's trying to do.

"Formula GIGO" he thought aloud.

ME:GIGO?

KAMIL : Yes. GIGO is an ICT term that means Garbage In, Garbage Out.

ME : I know

KAMIL : That's what's happening here

ME. : So what do you suggest I do.?

KAMIL : This is a cue for you to apologize properly with the same mouth you yelled at her with.

I scanned the class in search of her but she was nowhere to be found.

"Parking lot" I said to myself.
