Mei Li wasn't at peace; why did she have to slip now of all times?
And even if she wanted to slip, why didn't she just slip and fall down?
Why in that man's arms?
Now she was pacing around the room nervously, will he lock her up? she wondered.
Her heart wasn't at ease, then she heard some footsteps approach, and she wished the ground could open and bury her.
Her lips parted as she was about to start explaining how it happened.
Then the old woman walked back inside, she sighed in relief because what was she going to explain?
That her bones and joints weren't in agreement, and she craned her leg, or what?
"Young lady, what is your name?" The old lady asked, and Mei Li stared at Luis Shing, who didn't react.
"Mei Li," she answered.
"Who is Luis to you?"
The question caught Mei Li off guard. What kind of question was that?
But Luis just told her that she was his property; was she supposed to say that?
"His property," she answered, and the old lady's eyes widened in shock.
"It's not time to joke." Luis walked and stood next to Mei Li.
"She is my girlfriend; tell her, Mei Li."
Girlfriend? Mei Li was confused. When did she become his girlfriend?
"Mei Li," he called, with a hint of irritation.
"I am his girlfriend," she answered, but the old woman wasn't convinced, but the lady had agreed as well.
"Let's all have a meal together; you both come downstairs," grandma ordered before she turned and left.
The temperature in the room increased as Mei Li took a step back.
"I am sorry," she apologized.
Luis walked to the door without uttering a word to her. He stopped on his tracks, swallowed back what he had to say, and left.
He wanted to tell her that those tricks of hers were outdated-those same tricks she had used to seduce his sister's husband, which caused him to cheat on her.
Luis arrived downstairs and sat in the dining room with his grandma.
"Where is Mei Li?" His grandma asked, and he frowned. Why was his grandma making things difficult?
"You, come here," she waved at a maid who approached her.
"Go get Mei Li, hurry up."
The maid's gaze moved to Luis, who nodded before she left to find Mei Li.
Minutes later, Mei Li walked towards the dining table with heavy footsteps.
"Have a seat next to Luis; let's eat together." The old lady smiled at Mei Li, who smiled back nervously at her.
Only if she knew how scared she was right now.
So she sat next to him and felt her palms become sweaty.
The maids and guards all left after they served the meal, as it was time for Luis to take out his mask and eat.
But he didn't take it off. "Mei Li, where did you both meet?"
"Hmm?" Mei Li was confused. What was she supposed to say to her? At this moment, her brain wasn't even functioning well, so how could she come up with a story?
"I am asking where you both met." The old lady repeated the question, but she still couldn't answer.
"At the gym," Luis replied, and the old lady nodded. She knew her grandson mostly spent his time there, so it was normal for them to meet there.
"You are already so pale; don't go to the gym anymore," she advised Mei Li with a calm tone when her phone suddenly rang.
"I need to leave now; you both should come have dinner tomorrow night with me," Grandma Shing suggested.
"No, she won't be free." Luis chimed in with a frustrating tone. Why was his grandma being childish now?
"She won't be busy; don't answer for her... I am waiting for you both tomorrow, or else I will move into your mansion," she warned before leaving the mansion.
Luis stared at the meal before him. He tried to calm down his nerves so he wouldn't lose them.
Mei Li felt the need to use the restroom, but she couldn't just leave the table. She needed him to permit her, but he just sat there.
Was he angry at her? Will he still lock her up? Her heart raced as she kept waiting for him to say something. After about ten minutes, he stood up and left.
Mei Li hurried upstairs to the bedroom she woke up earlier from. She barged into the bathroom and eased herself before she returned and sat on the bed.
"What sort of mess did I get myself into?" She sighed heavily and stood by the window and stared down; it was high, so she couldn't jump down.
Maybe tomorrow she could try to escape and even leave this town; she could start her life somewhere else, away from problems.

The next morning, Mei Li slowly opened her eyes as her gaze met that of Krish, the maid.
She jumped up on the bed, and Krish smiled at her. "I am sorry if I scared you; this is your dress." She placed a dress on the bed.
"Mr. Shing is waiting for you downstairs; please dress up quickly so you won't anger him."
Krish explained that before she left and Mei Li felt like passing out, it was still too early for her to be tortured or to meet that faceless man.
Either way, something was going to happen to her today, so she could only prevent it from being so painful.
She hurried and freshened up, then slipped into the simple gown and found her way downstairs.
The house was so big that she had to do a lot of turns in the elevator before she arrived downstairs, and Krish walked to her.
"Come with me."
She led Mei Li to the back of the house, where she found Luis Shing. He stood in the field; there was a pole in the field, and three men hung from there with their hands tied.
Then there was a mask around their faces. Luis turned his gaze to Mei Li.
"Come here," he ordered, and she hurried to him but stood a meter away from him.
"Do you recognize those men?" he asked, and she took a proper look at them, but she couldn't recognize them; their faces were hidden, so how could she know?
"Go check them out," he added, and she nodded and slowly walked to them.
Thud
"Ahh!" she screamed when she heard the sound of a gunshot. The man on her left was bleeding, and then she felt some strands of her hair fall on her left shoulder. The bullet had missed her brain just a bit.
