Chapter 5 What's the Connection

By the next day, the news was already being discussed all over the media in the US. It reached overseas as well.

"Is Raquel okay now?" asked Emma, since Noah was at Emma's apartment at the time.

"Two bodyguards are secretly guarding Raquel's apartment. I'll make sure she stays okay."

"Oh my God, Noah ... We shouldn't be doing this!" Did Emma disagree with what Raquel did last night?

"You should have discussed it with me first!" she said again, with an exasperated face.

"I didn't want to involve you in something that could harm you like this, Emma."

"Oh? Are you taking me for granted?"

"Gosh, it's not like that–" Noah walked over to Emma, but Emma walked backward because she didn't want to be held by Noah's hand.

"As we know, this is very sensitive and dangerous. If I involve you, I'm afraid of what will happen to you."

As he said this, they both looked at each other. Emma saw that Noah was sincere when he said it.

"Can't you stop worrying about me? If you keep this up, you're just rubbing me the wrong way!"

"Emma ...." However, just as Noah was about to say something to Emma, the bell rang from outside the main door. Until the two of them were immediately distracted by something else.

"I'll open it," Emma said as she walked towards her door, which turned out to be Grace, who was now Emma's manager.

"Forgive me, Ms, for coming so late at night without giving you any news, I just wanted to give you the file you requested," Grace said as she said so, her feet following Emma into the living room.

"Did you make sure the CCTV was removed when you entered Jovanka's room?" Emma asked.

"I did."

Emma told Grace to bring the files of the financial statements to Adwlyn Agency, as Grace had told her that some employees had complained about not being given bonuses for overtime work. When her father was alive, none of the previous employees had ever protested like this.

That's why Emma had to investigate too, because the woman in Qatar said that Jovanka was a very greedy person. Doesn't even care about her own biological daughter who is in Qatar.

Grace's eyes narrowed when she saw Noah there. "Mr. Noah, I thought you weren't here."

"Yeah, I am here."

"Fortunately, the file is in your hands. Then report to me what you missed. I will ask my IT staff to track Jovanka's transactions for the past three months."

"Thank you, Noah." Emma smiled and looked at Noah meaningfully, if Noah hadn't helped her up to this point, she might have given up.

Grace saw the two of them looking at each other, making her feel like an intruder. So she decided to go home.

"Can I–" Noah didn't have time to continue, but Emma cut him off.

"Noah?"

Noah and Emma's apartments were not close together because they were worried that Jovanka would get suspicious.

"Don't worry, I'll be home soon too if you still want to stay here–"

"Want to come home with me?" Instead of answering Grace's words, Noah offered her to go home together since they were heading in the same direction.

"Are you sure I'm not bothering you?" asked Grace, who realized something was going on between the two of them.

"Yeah, I'm tired too and want to rest." Annoyed that Noah preferred to go home, Emma assured Grace that she wanted to be alone in her apartment.

"Alright." From the look on Grace's face, she looked confused. However, she didn't want to say anymore.

"I'll pick you up tomorrow at 10:00 am, Ms," Grace said to Emma.

Emma just nodded her head. Noah and Grace left Emma's apartment.

Before Noah got out of there, he looked at Emma for a long time, but didn't say a word which made Emma very upset!

Did Noah want to play with Emma's feelings?

"Quick, arrest that journalist!" snapped a man with a beard on his chin and graying hair. Not to forget the lion tattoo on his neck.

"Why did you let that woman come back here?" he asked a woman he knew very well.

"I'm 100% sure that Emma is gone!"

"Jovanka, we can't get caught again! We're on top again and I don't want to fall back!"

Yeah, Jovanka was talking to Sir Lion. The man who masterminded the bombing at Cambridge station.

Sir Lion had just flown from Qatar to New York yesterday, just as Raquel had said, he was indeed going to carry out the bombing here again.

It was true what Noah suspected if the two of them were working together to commit a crime.

"Can't we postpone this bombing first? Because if the reporters are right, surely the public will immediately look for the culprit!"

"Damn it. I have to do it because if we don't, we won't be able to reach the target. The bombing in Cambridge yesterday, there weren't many casualties!"

Actually, what was Sir Lion's reason for doing the bombing?

He had a plan to reduce the human population for his business, in collaboration with one of the people who also had complete control over all the business going on in this world. Once the human population is reduced, the houses of the deceased will be leveled and their businesses built.

However, now problems are starting to arise, which they need to address immediately.

Especially with the IAE making things difficult because they are a very powerful company in catching criminals, especially Noah Basso who cannot be bribed by anything to cover up this case.

"Just kill the journalist!" Jovanka suggested without thinking.

"Don't be rash! If that journalist is killed, the public will become even more suspicious. The existence of that journalist is a threat to us. We have to think of another way!"

"What's more, Mr. Noah is here right now. If anything happens, he'll investigate immediately! The plan must not be known to him!"

A few minutes later after much thought, Sir Lion said, "What if we kidnap her? And we threaten her to make the conversation public if she's just fantasizing!"

"It doesn't seem to be that easy."

"Take it easy." Sir Lion stood up from his seat and walked outside his dark office.

He called his team to arrest the journalist without the public knowing.

"Do it now, quickly!" Sir Lion ordered.

Jovanka walked up to Sir Lion and said, "I want to finish Emma too. Please make her die too! She's a tough woman, I don't want her to take back what's already mine!"

"Now that she is close to Mr. Noah, that man should not be underestimated. Because now he is the most reliable person in his country. We can't just go around bothering Emma."

"Damn it. Then, what should I do? I want to make that woman disappear!" Jovanka was sulking because last night, she was the topic of conversation everywhere. Emma said in front of many people about what happened to her.

"Will Emma be suspicious of her father's death?" asked an increasingly worried Jovanka.

"We cannot let that happen. Rest assured that we have silenced those who knew about it. You have to be patient for a while. We'll take care of Raquel first."

Sir Lion hugged Jovanka tightly. "I love you so much, I want everything to go back to the way it was and we can live happily."

A few hours later, one of his team approached him and said, "Raquel has been captured. So, what are we going to do?"

"I'll make her talk to the media and if she still won't, then the last resort is to make her die as if she committed suicide due to depression!"

Will Sir Lion's plan fail this time? What about Noah's unwillingness to reveal their crimes?
