I got to school as soon as possible. Even though I was still feeling very sleepy and tired.

But my inability to sleep has made me miss human contact. I laid my head to the locker, asleep awhile.

During lectures, my friends and I glanced at each other shyly. In a weird. We looked like idiots, that I almost laughed at myself.

My friends, Jasmine, Leo, and Toby. I'm Joel. And these are my friends.

Mr Wood walked in the middle of the gaps in class. He smashed my paper in front of my desk, lighting up my mood with shock.

" Mr Dawn, your energy this semester is quite far behind. Try recollect balance on your focus, that is your education. "

I had a C. I had to hide my paper. It was funny our eyes touched all at once. Like we could read our minds.

At the cafeteria. .

I dragged my heavy feet amidst the cafeteria. I know I attract a lot of attention. So I hid my swollen eyes. I collapsed to our table with my eyes closed.

" Did you smoke?" Jasmine was curious.

I looked at her in slow instance. Then gulped my water. " I'm clean asf."

Leo was cool, laughing so silently." Well I couldn't. That night was hell. I had smoke sum."

" Guys are we still talking about this?" Jasmine said.

" Well we have to. " Toby said," I mean we all expected something great from this dark sh!t. "

" I mean not to talk of the money we spent to gather any of it."

All eyes was on me as I buried my face in my burger. Their silence spoke into my ears but I refused to heed to the signal.

" Well, say something." Toby snapped in. Expecting a response.

" What the Fuck do you want me to say, Toby. Huh? Of course we lost a lot of money and a lot of grades... But for better for worst, wasn't that the deal?"

" No one is blaming anyone guys." Jasmine said." Right now we have to cope with the reality of it and focus on something else, something better."

" Like what?" Leo asked.

" I don't know, fucking check TikTok.."

" She said fucking check TikTok.." Toby and I chuckled deeply.

We laughed together..

" Guys it's been 5 months." I rumpled my soft hair on purpose.

" We have to heal and stay together. It might not be over." I added to my positive energy.

" Um about that, I think we should presspause till after semester." Jasmine teased and the boys laughed after.

" We were on this before school started, we can't stop now cos we didn't see anythin." I said.

" Let's think of what it's best for us." Leo said," haven't you been traumatized enough for now? Common, our grades are fucking off the fence. "

" He's right." Jasmine agreed." I think we need to gather our energy for school again. We can always do this some other time after."

They looked into my eyes for a feedback.

" Okayy, you guys do you. While I do me. " I said.

" So how about a group study by the coffee shop at the Junction this weekend ?" She suggested.

We looked into each other's eyes and quickly agreed that we can't say no to her. "Okay, I'll try." I said.

" Alrightt." She played with my nose and walked away." I'll send something to our groupchat, make sure you reply. "

" Of course, we don't have aNy other choice ma'am." Toby confirmed, teasingly.

" Leo you have some at home." I asked, for I had no choice.

" A little." He said." But will high you enough to start chilling."

I tossed my bag to my back."let's get out of here."

" Hyehye- Captain." Leo followed.
