Chapter 4 Meeting with the Council

"Don't talk to her!" Blaze yelled at him. Lenox laughed and clapped his hands.

"She is not Shama; she is my mate," Blaze said, turning to me. He gave me a meaningful look, and I got what he wanted me to do. That's basic!

"Hi, I am not Shama. I am Alpha's mate. Nice meeting you," I uttered while disguising my voice.

Lenox nodded while still looking at me. He is not convinced of what I've said, but I will make sure he does not notice me. I will hide my real face with this mask.

"Let's go!" Blaze pulled me in, and Lenox followed us.

As Blaze drove his car away, my heart started to pound hard. Why am I feeling this way?

"Are you alright?" Blaze asked me, as if he cared.

I nodded and let out a deep sigh. I will try to calm down. "It seems you're freaking nervous," he asked again, laughing at me.

"No, I'm not! Of course not; why should I?" I denied my real feelings.

"It's quite obvious. Are you afraid that they might eat you? Don't worry, I'll eat you first before they capture you." With a playful smile, he held my hand and looked directly into my eyes.

"Let go of me, Alpha," I whispered, and he laughed like crazy. I clenched my fists as I looked at him madly. I know he will not hesitate to touch or hurt me because of his abilities, but I won't let that happen.

I rush to step out of the car, so I feel my mask carelessly. I immediately got it back on my face. I hope he didn't see my real face.

"Alpha, they are waiting inside!" Lenox came out and called us. Blaze holds my wrist as we walk, but his hands are too warm, which gives me a different sensation. I can't understand, but I feel something weird.

"Good evening to all of you. I proudly present my mate. Her name is Amber Gale Kyieper.

I was shocked by what he said. Where the hell did he get that name? It sounds odd, but it's fine anyway; it's just a name.

"Why is she hiding her real face with that mask?" Lenox asked while raising his brows at us.

"We agreed that she would only remove that mask if I already marked her. No more questions; let's start this meeting," Blaze said, letting me sit beside him.

"As our new Alpha, you now have a big responsibility in our pack. You should start to act like an Alpha," the other guy said.

"You don't need to remind me all the time," Blaze replied, without respecting their elders.

"You, the Beta and Omega, will work together to keep the peace in our pack. Don't take any silly actions like before," the other old man said, while Blaze's expression was still blank.

"If you don't want me to be your Alpha, you had better choose Harry as your Alpha.

I feel tension inside the hall. They all look at Blaze with a furious expression. This man really hates responsibility, or maybe he is afraid that he might not be able to do his part.

"Enough, Alpha Blaze. We want you, and you are the chosen."

Blaze smirked and stood up. "As your Alpha, you will do everything that I say.

"Alpha, can we talk about what I told you earlier? It's about the soldiers? Lenox called his attention.

I bowed my head and remained silent. Why am I sitting here if I'm not part of them? What the hell is this man thinking of? It's embarrassing.

"Blaze, can I go around? I think you all need your privacy; I mean, I am not part of this meeting," I whispered to Blaze, so he stared at me.

"I think she's right. She's out of place; it's good for her to have a tour in our packhouse." Lenox agreed with me. He's a big help, but his stares at me are sticky.

"I can tour her!" I looked around and saw a girl in her maid uniform. So, is she also a maid?

"Okay, take care!" Blaze said, and I smiled at him. Tsk. It sounds sweet, but I know it's fake. It is only for the sake of pretending.

I turn my back on them and faced the lady. "Hi, you're a maid here, right?" I asked her, even if it is so obvious.

She smiled and nodded." I am the new one. My name is Valerie, and are you?

"I am Sh---Amber. I am the Alpha's mate," I said, and she immediately knelt down on my feet. What? What's wrong with her?

"Hey, don't do that! Stand up!" I helped her stand and tap her shoulders.

"I'm so sorry; I didn't know that you were the next Luna. I'm very sorry," she said, and it made my heart tear apart. Sorry, but it's not true. It's just a pretense, and I can never be Luna because I am a goddess.

"No need to apologize; come on, it's nothing to me." I smiled at her, and I adjusted myself until she felt comfortable with me again.

"Miss Amber, this pack is very strong, especially when the late Alpha is still here. No one dares to attack their pack." Valerie started to talk.

"I thought you were only new here." She had mentioned before that she was new and a new maid, if I am not mistaken.

"Yes, but the story about this pack reaches other cities. They are famous!" She said and smiled. She guided me all the way, and all I can say is... It's beautiful. Their place is beautiful.

"Leave us!"

I almost fell down the hole when I heard Blaze's voice. What is he doing here?

Valerie left us because she was scared of how Blaze looked at her. That's so mean. Should I teach this man a lesson?

"Let's go! I shouldn't attend this meeting anymore," he utters, so I frowned in his direction.

"How about the soldiers that Lenox is referring to? Aren't you scared that they will attack and conquer your pack? Come on, Boss, be an Alpha.

I know I don't have the right to do this, but that's the right thing to do.

"And who are you to control me?' He raised his voice at me, but I smiled at him.

"I am your fake mate and maid. Once you try to be rude to me, I will tell them the secret." This isn't a prank, but it's blackmail.

"What the hell!" He cursed in annoyance, but I laughed at him.

"Let's go!" He pulled me harshly.

"Be gentle, Alpha Blaze!" I saw Lenox smiling at us while following our pace.

"That Lenox likes you. The ugly you, and I think he already knows that you are Shama. Damn it! I need to do something." Blaze continues cussing while we are walking. I just let him do what he wanted.

"Wait," I stopped as I felt the presence of grandpa.

"What's wrong?" Blaze asked me irritably when he noticed that I had stopped walking.

"One of the council members is missing!" A red-headed guy shouted, which alarmed us.

"And where did he go?" Blaze whispered with disappointment.

"You need to do something! Try to talk to him using your mind link!" I told him, but he only glared at me.

"Go home. I feel something bad will happen."

I faked a laugh at what he said. I will walk all the way to your house. That's crazy.

"Lenox! You delivered her to my house. Don't ever try to lay your fingers on her!"

Yes, Alpha, Lenox answered by staring at me. "Let's go, Miss Amber," he added.

"Shama, I know it's you," he said while we were on our way.

"Stupid man! Shama is so ugly; how can the Alpha like her? That's crazy!" I said and laughed.

"But I can feel that it's you; you can't fool my ability."
