Chapter 2 Surprise visit

Chapter two

The next day, Alex woke with a heavy heart, the events of the previous day still weighing heavily on his mind. As he remembered what the lawyer had said while reading the will, a surge of anger coursed through him. He couldn't believe his grandfather had kept the existence of his twin brother a secret all these years, only revealing it in his will after he had passed away.

Frustration gnawed at Alex as he swung his legs out of bed and stood up. His footsteps were heavy as he made his way out of the bedroom and into the bathroom. The marble floors felt cold beneath his feet as he entered the spacious bathroom, the grandeur of the room doing little to ease his troubled thoughts.

Alex stared at his reflection in the mirror, his face clouded with anger and resentment. He couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal that simmered beneath the surface, his grandfather's actions leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.

"Why did you keep him a secret?" Alex muttered to his reflection, his voice filled with frustration. "What were you thinking?"

As he splashed cold water on his face, trying to clear his mind, Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of betrayal. He had always been his grandfather's favorite, the one he had groomed to take over the family business. But now, with the revelation of Sebastian's existence, it seemed that everything had changed.

While Alex was in his mansion, lost in his thoughts during his morning bath, Sebastian was seen emerging from his small, cramped kitchen. Poverty was evident in every corner, from the worn-out countertops to the patched-up walls. Despite the dire circumstances, Sebastian had managed to whip up a simple meal for his mother.

He carefully balanced a bowl of steaming soup in his hands as he made his way to his mother's bedside. Her eyes lit up with gratitude as he approached, the aroma of the soup filling the air and bringing a sense of comfort to the room.

"Here you go, Mom," Sebastian said softly, his voice filled with warmth as he handed her the bowl.

His mother smiled weakly, her eyes shining with tears. "Thank you, Sebastian," she murmured, reaching out to take the bowl from him. "You always know how to take care of me."

Sebastian watched as his mother took a spoonful of the soup and began to eat, her movements slow and deliberate. He felt a swell of pride in his chest as he watched her, knowing that he had managed to provide her with a moment of comfort in their otherwise difficult lives.

As his mother ate, Sebastian couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt wash over him. He wished he could give her more, provide her with the comfort and security she deserved. But with their limited resources, all he could do was offer her his love and care.

"I wish I could do more for you, Mom," Sebastian said, his voice tinged with regret. "I promise, one day, things will be better."

His mother reached out and took his hand, squeezing it gently. "You're doing everything you can, Sebastian," she said softly. "That's all I could ever ask for."

Sebastian smiled, his heart swelling with love for his mother. She was his rock, his guiding light in the darkness, and he would do anything to make her proud.

As Sebastian and his mom sat together, enjoying their simple meal, they started hearing voices outside. Sebastian's ears perked up, his senses on high alert as he strained to make out the sound. His mother paused mid-bite, her eyes widening with concern.

"What's that, Seb?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Sebastian furrowed his brow, listening intently as the voices grew louder. Then, like a beacon of luxury amidst the poverty of their neighborhood, a black Rolls Royce Wraith glided into view, stopping in front of their humble house.

Sebastian's heart skipped a beat as he watched the sleek car pull up. It seemed out of place in their rundown neighborhood, like a visitor from another world. His mind raced with questions: Who could be visiting them in such a luxurious car? And why?

As the luxurious car parked in front of their house, Sebastian glanced at his mother, a mixture of curiosity and concern in his eyes.

"I'll be right back, Mom," he assured her, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

His mother nodded, understanding evident in her eyes as she watched Sebastian step out of the house. With each step towards the car, Sebastian's heart pounded with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.

As he approached, the family lawyer spotted Sebastian and greeted him with respect, Sebastian was taken aback. He couldn't understand why this man, whom he had never met before, would accord him, a lowly resident of their impoverished neighborhood, so much respect.

"Um, hello," Sebastian replied cautiously, his confusion evident in his voice.

Mr. Jennings smiled warmly, his demeanor calm and collected. "Sebastian, I'm Mr. Jennings, the Lee family lawyer," he introduced himself, extending his hand.

Sebastian shook the lawyer's hand tentatively, still trying to make sense of the situation. "Nice to meet you," he replied politely, though his mind was racing with questions.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Jennings?" Sebastian asked, trying to hide the unease in his voice.

The lawyer's smile widened slightly as he glanced around the neighborhood. "I've come on behalf of the Lee family," he explained, his tone measured. "There's something they would like to discuss with you."

Sebastian's confusion deepened. The Lee family? What could they possibly want with him? He was just an ordinary guy, struggling to make ends meet in a neighborhood where people like him were often overlooked and forgotten.

"Is everything alright?" Sebastian asked, a flicker of concern in his voice.

Mr. Jennings nodded reassuringly. "All will be explained in due time," he replied cryptically. "But for now, please, come with me."

As the conversation unfolded outside, Sarah, Sebastian's mom, couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Dragging herself up from her bed, she made her way slowly to the window, her movements labored and heavy with exhaustion.

Peering out through the dusty glass, Sarah watched as Sebastian and the family lawyer, Mr. Jennings, engaged in conversation. She recognized Mr. Jennings immediately, his face etched in her memory from past encounters with the Lee family.

As she watched them, a flicker of annoyance crossed Sarah's features. She knew Mr. Jennings represented wealth and privilege, the very things she and Sebastian had been denied for so long. The sight of him, dressed in his expensive suit, only served to remind her of the vast divide between their worlds.

"Who does he think he is?" Sarah muttered to herself, her voice tinged with bitterness. "Coming here like he owns the place."

She clenched her fists, her anger simmering just beneath the surface. The presence of the Lee family lawyer in their neighborhood only served to highlight the disparity between their lives and those of the wealthy elite.

As Sebastian and Mr. Jennings continued their conversation, Sarah watched them with a mixture of resentment and distrust. She knew that whatever the lawyer had come to discuss, it couldn't be good news for them.

With a heavy sigh, Sarah turned away from the window and made her way back to her bed. She couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had settled over her, like a dark cloud looming on the horizon.

As she lay there, listening to the muffled sounds of the conversation outside, Sarah couldn't help but wonder what the future held for her and Sebastian. Little did she know, their lives were about to change in ways they never could have imagined.

"Sebastian, would you mind coming with me?" he asked, his voice calm and reassuring.

Sebastian hesitated, his uncertainty evident in his expression. "I'm sorry, but I still don't know who you are," he replied cautiously. "I can't just follow a stranger."

Mr. Jennings nodded understandingly. "Of course, I completely understand," he said. "How about this? Why don't I come inside your house, and we can talk a little? I'll explain everything to you there."

Sebastian considered the offer for a moment, weighing his options. He still didn't fully trust this man, but his curiosity was piqued. Perhaps if they spoke inside his home, he would feel more comfortable and in control of the situation.

"Okay," Sebastian agreed finally, nodding his head. "Come in."

As Mr. Jennings followed Sebastian into their small house, he stepped inside and immediately spotted Sarah lying sick on a small bed. Recognition flickered in his eyes as he remembered her from previous encounters with the Lee family.

Sebastian watched as the lawyer's gaze softened, and he walked straight towards Sarah's bedside. There was a warmth in his demeanor as he approached her, a sense of familiarity that Sebastian found both comforting and puzzling.

"Mrs. Lee, it's been quite some time," Mr. Jennings said gently, his voice carrying a hint of sympathy.
