Chapter 4 Sania's fight for justice

Chapter 3

Sania picked up the unexpected call at the odd hour of midnight. She wondered what her parents wanted to speak to her at past 12. Sania picked up the call cheerfully with a smile but the next second what she heard made her fingers tremble and her heart skip a beat.

Sania's mother Margaret who was always a brave woman started sobbing on the phone. Her father suffered a stroke and urgently required two stunts near his heart to save his life. The Collins family couldn't afford the cost. Failing to get the surgery done within a month Sania will be losing her father.

It was news indigestible for Sania. But she was the older child and had the responsibility to be the backbone of her family. She gulped the obstruction forming in her throat and spoke positively to her mother. "Mama do not worry. Just take care of dad and I will arrange the funds for daddy's treatment."

"How would you do that? You are still a student?" Her mother asks but there was a ray of hope in Margaret's speech. She had complete confidence in her daughter. By any means Sania will save her father. "Mama, I have money saved up from a scholarship and also from part time employment." Sania lied with flowing tears from her eyes and restricted the choke about to fall out of her throat. She was thankful her mother couldn't see her.

The reality was, Sania's part time job hardly took care of her room rent and food and she had no extra money from scholarship. The money she got exactly was sufficient for education. No matter she slogs even night and day she needed a fortune of money to save her father which was near to impossible. Sania told Nina everything about her situation and cried about being impotent in saving her family.

Fifteen days have passed since she received the dreadful news from her mother. They have tried finances and pleas to the government for loans from all corners but failed in everything. Her sister would take care of her father and her mother would work two shifts a day still it hardly met the medical bills of her father.

Sania needed a miracle to happen in her life to save her father but she knew such wonders happen only in fairy tales. She decides to pay her father her last visit before he leaves the world but when God wills are we short of any prodigies?

She was working like every morning in the restaurant. Sania's eyes fell on something which could no less be called a wonder.

She immediately called the number and it was picked on the second ring. A male's deep sonorous voice entered her ears which sent crazy goose pimples on her skin. Even though it was their first conversation Sania felt electrified like something very intimate moved inside her. His husky words were brief but profoundly promising which got her to a jelly. And the next day Sania received a wireless transfer of two millions.

What was the conversation about? What did Sania do to earn such a huge income?

V
