Chapter 4 The Human World

I picked up Rando who was already a little pale-faced. This time he was really in pain.

"Hang in there. We'll find a place to rest. Hopefully there's a river around here." I looked around the forest, now at a loss for where to go. Rando just nodded, his life now dependent on me.

"Shit! This didn't come into my plan. Why did it end up like this," I screamed. Their journey to the human world encountered new difficulties.

"If I don't survive. Keep going on your journey, Niel." Rando looked at me with a smile full of happiness. His gaze seemed to radiate success at having helped me escape so far.

"No! You will continue to be with me. No matter how long it takes, we are inseparable." My voice was loud and steady. I never imagined I'd lose a true friend.

"Wait here. I'll search again soon." My feet immediately stepped onto a large tree that seemed to contain a lot of water. Meanwhile, Rando was lying weakly on the ground covered in leaves.

I looked at her anxiously. Really anxious this time. Feeling selfish with my decision all this time.

"I'm sorry, Ran. I've really caused you trouble." I lowered my gaze. While waiting for the water that had been flowing quite fast from the tree that I had hollowed out.

"Thank goodness this tree has water. I heard it can restore one's energy if one drinks the water." I then handed it to Rando who was not far from me. His face already looked very pale. I'm sure the arrow scratches had absorbed so much energy in Rando.

"Drink up. You look pale. I'm sure the arrow was poisoned." My gaze did not leave Rando's increasingly pale face. This time I was really going to open the portal. The human world, that was my only hope to save Rando's life.

"Get ready, Ran. Soon I will open the portal. Don't worry, after arriving in the human world I will immediately seek help."

Rando nodded resignedly. He was too weak to speak. His lips looked even paler. I counted the time. Any later and Rando's life would not be saved.

I translated that ancient writing a few weeks ago. It was so difficult, it even made me lose sleep for a few days. Luckily, my father was not in the kingdom at that time. I was able to study this book freely.

"May God bless our journey this time." I couldn't wait to open the ancient book I was now holding and recite the few sentences I had already composed.

Rando who was beside me stared in disbelief. As if to say, "How could Othniel translate that ancient book.".

I ignored Rando's astonished gaze. I continued to focus on chanting the spell that opened the portal door. It took a little while, but finally a black circle was formed right in front of me and Rando.

"What is it?" Rando's voice trailed off. His face could not hide an expression of shock mixed with awe. This time the man fully believed Othniel.

"Let's go in immediately. Before the arrow's poison spreads to your vital organs." I quickly pulled Rando closer. I put the ancient book into the bag containing important equipment.

"Are you sure?" Rando asked with what energy he had left. The man looked very pale. I'm afraid his life won't be saved when he reaches the human world.

"Come on!" I didn't answer his question. I immediately grabbed Rando's body and we entered the portal to the human world.

A young girl was busy cleaning up the food that was scattered everywhere. The girl occasionally grumbles to someone.

"Always giving me trouble!" The girl threw down the rag she was holding. Wiping away the sweat that was almost dripping.

"Damn! Why is it so hot today," muttered the girl as she poured cold water into a glass. Preparing to drink, but her eyes were distracted by a cat that had just soiled her kitchen.

"You've soiled the kitchen once again, I can't bear to throw you out on the street!" The girl looked very annoyed, clearly visible from the look in her eyes. But the ash-colored cat only glanced at her and then scurried away.

"You damn cat! Why do you like that cat so much anyway." Again the young girl chuckled in annoyance.

The glass was still full of water. The girl hadn't drunk it yet. She was very annoyed with the cat who had been silent all day, as if nothing had happened.

Just as she was about to finish her drink, two men randomly appeared in her kitchen.

"Who are you!"

"How did you get here? What do you want?"

The girl cried out in surprise. How could she not be surprised, when she saw two strange men suddenly appear in the kitchen. The girl reflexively let go of the glass she was holding.

"Prang"

The sound of the shards was deafening. The girl took a few steps back. Staring from top to bottom, the two men were dressed very strangely.

"Who are you?" Once again the girl shouted. Taking a few steps back, her face could not hide the fear.

I looked at her sharply. A girl, seemingly the same age as us was now standing stiff and tense. Her face clearly showed the fear caused by our appearance in her house. I couldn't speak, I was tongue-tied. How could this kuni book bring us into someone's house. Surely Rando and I would be considered burglars. "What should I say?" That's what I had been thinking. My voice felt choked, even though I'm not usually like this.

"Please my friend," my words just now made the young girl very surprised. Her eyes suddenly looked at Rando who was already weak and pale.

"Is he injured? It seems like that man should be helped immediately. If not-"

"Please hurry."

I cut off the girl's sentence. This time I was really worried about Rando's condition. His pulse was getting so weak, I could barely feel it. I hope the human world can save Rando's life.

Unexpectedly, the young girl made a beeline for us. She picked up Rando and laid him down. Her hand deftly pulled out a flat object, then appeared to be talking to someone. I wondered what it was, but I decided against it. Rando's life was more valuable.

"Let's take him out immediately. The ambulance will be there soon," said the girl standing up and walking outside.

My thin body had a little trouble carrying Rando, who was clearly well-built.

"Oh my God. Why are you so heavy," I muttered, but still carried Rando who had been unconscious since earlier.

Rando's face looked very pale. I'm afraid his life is beyond help. Right now I feel very guilty, because of me he has become like this.

"Hey you! Hurry up, we don't have much time!" The girl suddenly shouted. Nearby was a very strange object. It had a strange shape. I've never seen it before.

"What is this thing called an ambulance?" I asked quietly. Paying close attention to the object.

"Don't daydream! Put your friend inside immediately." The girl shouted again. From the look on her face, it was clear that she was impatient, seeing Othniel's strange behavior.

I quickly obeyed the girl's orders, before she went berserk like a bull. I was finally truly in the human world. But this time with very different expectations than expected. I didn't expect that we would have such a disaster.

"Hang in there, Ran." I murmured beside Rando. The man was already as white as cotton. I trembled slightly, unable to imagine what it would be like if Rando were to disappear from this world.

"Can't you go any faster. That man is already helpless. I doubt he'll survive," the girl said to the old man at the controls.

I had been wondering. How could the thing we were riding on suddenly travel so fast? I was amazed, I knew the human world was full of mystery and fun.

"You can't just stay silent. Talk to your friend!" The girl snapped. I was surprised, that girl had a real temper.

"Alright," I nodded. I patted Rando's right cheek a little hard. Then checked his pulse.

"It's still there. But it's very weak. Can we go faster," I said to the girl.

"We'll be there soon. My mom will help her soon," he replied in a low voice. It was not like before when she looked so ferocious.

Before long, we had reached a very crowded building. I was stunned to see it.

"Is this what a hospital is?" I wondered. I'd only ever read about it in a few ancient books lying around worn out in the royal library.

Rando was helped immediately. People in uniform soon came to help Rando. I could only pray silently, hoping that Rando would recover soon.

The young girl was silent. Occasionally she looked at me as if she was about to ask something but didn't. I understood, she must be very curious about our presence that just appeared in her house.

"Would you like to ask me something, Miss?" I asked a little embarrassed. But ventured rather than the situation becoming awkward.

The girl was about to reply but was stopped, someone came over to us. The person said, "Be patient. Your friend is currently in critical condition. We cannot guarantee the man's safety."

I fell silent. My world instantly stopped. Now all I could think of was, "Will I lose my true friends in this new world?"
