Chapter 3 Episode

Aria's pov

The days leading up to the mating ceremony pass in a blur of preparation and anticipation. Every waking moment is spent training, and honing my skills in the hopes of proving myself worthy of a mate. But no matter how hard I push myself, I can't seem to shake the nagging voice in the back of my mind that whispers, "You'll never be good enough."

It doesn't help that everywhere I turn, I'm met with the same pitying looks and whispered comments.

"Poor Aria, she's trying so hard, but we all know she doesn't stand a chance."

"I heard she's been practicing her hunting skills as if that'll make a difference. She's still the weakest omega in the pack."

"I bet she'll be the only one left standing alone at the end of the ceremony. It's almost sad to watch."

Each word feels like a knife to the heart, but I force myself to hold my head high and keep pushing forward. I may not be the strongest or the fastest, but I refuse to let their doubts define me.

As the day of the ceremony draws closer, I find myself seeking solace in the company of my best friend, Lily. She's one of the few wolves in the pack who sees me for who I am, not just the weak omega everyone else sees.

"Aria, you've got this," she says, her eyes shining with encouragement as we sit together by the river's edge. "You're stronger than you know, and any wolf would be lucky to have you as their mate."

I smile, but it feels forced. "Thanks, Lily. I just... I can't help but worry, you know? What if I'm not chosen? What if I end up alone, watching everyone else find their happily ever after while I'm left behind?"

Lily takes my hand, squeezing it gently. "That's not going to happen, Aria. The moon goddess has a plan for you, I know it. And when the time is right, she'll guide you to your mate."

I nod, trying to let her words sink in. But even as I draw comfort from her presence, I can't shake the fear that gnaws at my insides.

Later that day, as I'm heading back to my family's den, I catch sight of a familiar figure in the distance. Liam, the alpha's son, is talking with a group of other wolves, his expression serious and focused. My heart skips a beat as I watch him, admiring the way the sunlight glints off his dark hair and the strength in his broad shoulders.

For a moment, I allow myself to imagine what it would be like to be his mate, to stand by his side as he leads our pack into the future. But just as quickly, the fantasy fades, replaced by the cold, hard reality of my inadequacy.

I'm so lost in my thoughts that I don't even notice the rock in my path until it's too late. My foot catches on it, and I go tumbling to the ground in a graceless heap.

"Ouch!" I yelp, wincing as I feel the sharp sting of a scrape on my knee.

"Well, well, well. Look who it is."

I look up to see Rafe, one of the pack's strongest warriors, looming over me with a smirk on his face.

"Need a hand, omega?" he asks, his tone dripping with condescension.

I grit my teeth, pushing myself to my feet. "I'm fine, thanks."

But Rafe isn't done. "You know, I've been watching you, Aria. Trying so hard to prove yourself, to be something you're not. It's almost cute, in a pathetic sort of way."

I feel my cheeks burn with humiliation, but I force myself to meet his gaze. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, come on," he scoffs. "Everyone knows you're hoping to be chosen by Liam at the ceremony. As if he'd ever pick a weak little thing like you."

His words hit me like a punch to the gut, and I feel tears prickling at the corners of my eyes. But I refuse to let him see me cry.

"You don't know anything about me," I say, my voice trembling with anger and hurt. "And you don't know anything about Liam, either."

Rafe laughs, a cruel, mocking sound. "Oh, I know plenty about Liam. And trust me, he's not interested in a pathetic excuse for a wolf like you. He needs a mate who can stand by his side, not one who can barely stand on her own two feet."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, my heart shattered into a million pieces.

I don't even realize I'm crying until I feel the hot, salty tears streaming down my cheeks. I angrily brush them away, furious with myself for letting Rafe get to me. But his words keep echoing in my mind, taunting me with the truth I've been trying so hard to ignore.

Maybe he's right. Maybe I am just a pathetic excuse for a wolf, a weak omega who will never be good enough for someone like Liam. Maybe I'm destined to be alone forever, watching from the sidelines as everyone else finds their happily ever after.

But even as the doubts swirl in my mind, I can't ignore the tiny spark of hope that still flickers in my heart. The hope that maybe, just maybe, Liam will see something in me that no one else does. That he'll choose me, not because of my strength or my skills, but because of who I am inside.

And so, with a deep breath and a determined set to my jaw, I pick myself up and keep moving forward. I may not be the strongest or the fastest, but I refuse to give up on my dreams. I refuse to let the doubts and the fears win.

As the sun begins to set on the eve of the mating ceremony, I find myself standing at the edge of the pack's territory, looking out over the vast expanse of wilderness that stretches out before me. In the distance, I can see the faint outline of the ceremonial grounds, where tomorrow, my fate will be decided.

As I stand there, watching the last rays of sunlight paint the sky in shades of orange and pink, I can't help but feel a sense of hope and excitement mingling with the nerves in my belly.

Tomorrow, everything will change. Tomorrow, I'll either find my mate, or I'll be left alone, watching as everyone else finds their happily ever after.

But no matter what happens, I know one thing for sure. I'm going to face it with my head held high and my heart full of courage. I'm going to prove to everyone, including myself, that I'm more than just a weak omega.

I'm Aria, and I'm worth fighting for.

Just as I'm about to turn back towards the village, I hear a twig snap behind me. I whirl around, my heart pounding in my chest, only to find myself face-to-face with the last wolf I ever expected to see.

Liam.

He's standing there, his piercing blue eyes locked on mine, his expression unreadable. And in that moment, I swear I feel something pass between us, a spark of electricity that sets my whole body tingling.

"Aria," he says, his voice low and serious. "We need to talk."
