Chapter 1 Tragedy in Crimson Hound

Miguel puts on his watch, and his right hand puts on his coat on his shoulder. "We have to go back now. I'm sure the alpha was eager to know the result of this mission."

He saw hesitation in Jaden's eyes. "What's wrong?" Jaden sighed.

"I've been trying to call the alpha, but no one is answering," Jaden says.

He grabs his phone and dials the alpha's number. It's not really ringing. All of a sudden, he became nervous. "Go back to the pack. I think something happens," his alpha stated.

We get inside the car, and Jaden drives at full speed. He closed his eyes and suddenly recalled the day he was rejected.

...

"No! I don't want him to be my mate, Dad! How come that the moon goddess gives me a mate with no origin? He's just a pup that was abandoned and kept by you!"

The alpha slaps Kassidy. "Alpha, please. Ease your anger. Kassidy was telling the truth. I'm just a lost pup that you saved that night," he says.

He stood between the father and daughter. The alpha sighed and looked at him. "You are my daughter's destined mate. I raised you myself, and I know you would never forsake her, but she! Kassidy, I'm doing this for your own good. Also, it's not easy to change the name of your mate. You know that," Alpha says.

Kassidy pushes him and faces her father. "I don't care. Alaric is the only man for me, not some random pup you found on the road," she growls and looks down on him.

Alpha looks at him. He saw how sorry he is. "This month's full moon, I'll change the name of my mate. In my coming-of-age, Alaric and I will marry each other." She walks away and leaves us.

The alpha looks at him. "I'll do it myself. I know the heiress won't be able to bear the pain. Also... I want her to be happy even if it means that she finds it to another man," he whispers.

The alpha taps his shoulder and smiles sadly. "I really want you to be my son-in-law. Even if she turns her back on you, I hope you'll..."

He smiled. "I won't forsake her and protect the heiress from afar. That's a promise, alpha," he seriously utters.

The next full moon arrives. He watches the woman he loves as she heads to the moon pool, Crimson Hound. Her parents are the only ones who were here. The alpha and luna cut their wrists and poured their blood on the water.

They start murmuring a chant, and a spell ruin starts to glow from the water and above her. He walks around and slowly soaks himself in the water. Her parents look at him. He smiled sadly.

"Be ready. Make sure that you'll bear the pain and don't leave the water until the name changes in that stone," Alpha stated. Kassidy remained silent, and her eyes were glued on the stone.

He cuts his palm, and his blood makes the ruins glow brighter. "Hmp, aaggghhhh!" Kassidy screams.

If a wolf chooses to change the name of their mates before their coming-of-age ceremony, it should be done during the full moon. The blood of the current alpha and luna is needed.

He asks the alpha to hide one of the things that will happen to Kassidy after she makes this choice. She will lose half of her lifeline during the process. She will also lose one of her senses. The sense of touch.

He closed his eyes and extended his hand. He starts to transfer his lifeline and make sure that Kassidy won't lose hers. He didn't mind dying early as long as the woman he loves will live happily with the man that she chooses.

"Uho!" He throws up blood.

His body was hot. The pain felt like his being burned alive. He needs to bear the pain until the process ends after five minutes.

...

The moment they arrived, Jade and he were stunned when they saw the Silver mansion was being burned. "What the hell!" Jaden roars.

We meet Alaric, Jillian, and their allies outside. He took a deep breath. "I'll take care of Alaric. Kill the rest of them," he asserts.

Jaden and he start to roll their sleeves in their elbows. In just a flash, both of them smash faces in the ground. Jaden grabs the neck of Alaric's minion, who was stopping him from approaching that bastard.

"Move back! I'll kill him myself. I managed to kill the alpha and Luna; a wolf like him isn't!" Alaric didn't get the chance to finish talking because he threw a kick.

"Ugh!"

That bastard was thrown in front of the main door of the Silver mansion. "Alaric!" Jillian roars.

He turns, and that bitch's attempt to kill him has failed. He grabs her hair and throws it to Jayden. His right hand didn't hesitate and transformed into his wolf form just to tear Jillian in two pieces.

"Jilliannnn!" Alaric screams.

He turns to that man, and his eyes glow. "I have warned you so many times, Alaric. You didn't f*cking listen! You brought this to yourself," he growls madly.

Alaric stood and laughed mockingly. "I'll kill you. You and that henchman of yours! How dare you, huh? How dare you kill my woman!" Alaric roars and charges toward him.

He grabs his neck and smashes him on the ground. Alaric taps his arm. He was choking this bastard to his death. "No matter what you do, Miguel. Even if you successfully kill us tonight, Kassidy will never look at you!"

His arm starts to transform. "Kneel!" he roars thunderously.

His eyes glow, and Alaric is stunned when he kneels unwillingly. "Let's get inside and check them first," Jayden suggests. He uses silver chains and ties Alaric. He dashes inside the burning mansion and uses his nose.

He finds where they are. He scoops her body and looks at her. She's no longer... He howls, a cry that wolves do when we lose our mate. The full moon, the fire, and his tears had witnessed the pain he feels.

Chapter 2 Hello, my love

Everyone in the Crimson Hound was weeping for the loss of the entire Silver family, their leader. It's the Silver who formed this pack and gathered the rogues to build a pack that everyone will respect.

That was one hundred twenty years ago. He held the torch and was trembling as he approached their dead bodies. "Kassidy, Alpha Samuel, Luna Linda... thank you for everything. I promise, I'll take care of the pack from now on..."

His tears fall. He starts burning the woods. All of them howl and grieve for their loss. The council insisted that he'll manage Crimson Hound from now on even if he disagrees.

But the members insist that Alpha Samuel will surely be happy if I lead them. He agreed in the end. He looks at the sky and stares at the crescent moon.

"Goodbye, my love. I'll always remember you, Kassy."

The next few weeks, he barely sleeps. After work, he drunks his pain away. If Jayden wasn't around, he wouldn't move or start working each day.

"Miguel, you have to decide what you're planning to do with Alaric and his dad. They've been suffering for weeks already," Jayden says.

He gives Jayden a death stare. His right hand sighed. "I know you're still grieving, but we have to do something. You have to," Jayden suggests. He took a deep breath and stood up.

"Let's go to the dungeon," he says.

The moment he saw Alaric's face, his blood boiled. He didn't hold back and use a wooden stick filled with wolfsbane oil. He growls.

"Enough already! If you really want to kill us, stop torturing us!" Alaric's dad roars.

He gives the old man a death glare. His nails get longer, and he strikes the chest. "Aaggghh!" Alaric's dad screams, and when his nails reach the surface of his heart, he makes sure the old man feels the pain.

"Kill me already!" Alaric's dad screams.

He pulls out his heart and throws it on the bowl of fire. Alaric grunted in fear and pain. "You're a monster!" Alaric roars. That hit him.

He grabs Kassidy's favorite weapon, a dagger. He struck Alaric's heart and slowly twisted it around. "How about you, huh?! Did you know how much Kassidy sacrifices for you?!"

He pulls out the dagger and stabs Alaric several times. He throws the dagger, and Jayden gives him a towel. "She almost sacrifices half of her lifeline to write your fucking name in her mate stone. She disobeys her own parents for you!" he screams.

He suddenly remembers the bloodied body of the woman he loves the most. "The torture you received isn't even close to the pain she feels because of your betrayal. Therefore..." he pauses. He looks at Jayden.

Jayden stood behind Alaric and grabbed his head, forcing the bastard to open its mouth. He grabs the one gallon of wolfbane oil. He starts pouring the liquid in Alaric's mouth and watches him thunderously scream in pain.

Alaric and his dad's body was burned that night, but no one pays their respect after what they did to their beloved alpha, Luna, and their daughter. He also erased any data about them and Jillian's family.

They are nothing but a memory, and everything about them was erased in existence. Later that night, he was at the balcony of the Silver mansion. He was holding a glass of brandy, sitting on Kassidy's favorite swing.

He realized that tonight was a full moon. He scoffs bitterly. "Tell me, you moon. Does the moon goddess exist, huh? If she does, will she even grant my foolish wish?" I uttered bitterly. He drinks all the brandy in the glass and raises it. He looks at the reflection of the moon in the glass.

"If you really exist... can give me a chance to change her fate. I want a second chance to be with her... If you can give me that, I'll surely fight for her love..."

He leans and laughs like an idiot, slowly closes his eyes, and lets the glass slip in his hand, hoping for a miracle.

Miguel gasps, and the glass in his hand slips. He looks at the shattered glass. "Miguel, what happened?" Jayden asks.

He raises his head and frowns when he sees his right hand wearing a suit. "Since when did you fancy wearing those clothes, Jayden?" he questions.

Jayden smacks his nape. "You forced me, dumb*ss. This is your fault," Jayden growls.

He looks around and sees what is written on the big screen. "Huh? Happy 20th anniversary, Alpha and Luna?!" he roars.

He starts to take a step and run around, looking for the people he wants to see. "Miguel, stop! Excuse us. Sorry!" Jayden calls.

He stopped when he saw them. "What the heck was that, Miguel?" Jayden asks. "Punch me," he commands.

"What?! Are you stupid, huh?!" Jayden exclaimed.

His eyes glow. "It's a command," he asserts.

Jayden's jaw clenched, and he threw a punch at his face. He was moved for a meter before he managed to control his balance. "What are you two doing?!" Luna Linda roars.

Jayden bows. He turns his head and looks at them. A warmth filled his heart. Did the moon goddess grant his foolish request? If she is... He's glad that he is back!

[The moon goddess grants my request. I'm glad she heard me... I'm finally back! I can rewrite our fate!]

"What is happening to the two of you?" Alpha Samuel asks. He missed them so much! Those twenty weeks feel like death for him. "Miguel?" Luna Linda asks.

He simply smiled sad and relieved. "It's nothing, Alpha and Luna. I'm glad to be back," he says.

He even cracks his voice but stops himself from showing tears in their joyous celebration. "You're really annoying jack*ss," Kassidy growls, glaring at him.

He took a step closer. Alaric gets between them. He uses his speed and is now standing behind Kassidy. He wraps his hand around her waist. "Hello... my love," he greeted softly.

(A/N: I just want to emphasize to everyone that the close and open brackets represents the inner thoughts of Miguel which Kassandra can hear.)

Chapter 3 Possessiveness

Kassidy frowns when she witnesses how Jayden punches Miguel's face. Those two are trying to ruin her parent's anniversary party! "Dad, I told you that raising that pup is your biggest mistake!" she growls.

Dad gives her a warning gaze. She stomps her feet. "Cousin, relax. Don't ruin your mood over that wolf," Jillian says. She took a deep breath.

"Jill was right, Lady Kassidy," Alaric says. Mom sighed and approached them first. The two of them look at Mom after they hear her asking.

Her eyes meet Miguel's dazzling russet brown eyes. She frowns when she notices sadness in them. It's different from what she usually saw in them.

Alaric stood in front of her. She saw an unexplainable wrath in his eyes. It's so fierce that it brings a chill to her spine.

She was stunned when, in swift seconds, the tall Miguel was standing behind her, towering her completely. He wraps his arms around her waist. "Hello, my love."

Those words echo in her ears. Miguel's breath fans against her skin. His subtle icy perfume enters her nostrils. He smells so good actually.

For the first time, this man dares to get close and touch her. He never did that, even once. He knew how much she hated him.

"What the heck did you call me?!" she grunted, raising her head to look at his eyes again. But all of a sudden...

[I'm glad to see you again in such spirit, my love. I'm glad the moon goddess listens to my begging wish. This time, I'll cling to you and save you, Kassidy. I promise.]

What the f*ck did I just hear?! What is going on!?

'Is that his inner voice?! Maybe it was. It's his voice, but he didn't open his lips at all. I think I'm being crazy!'

Kassidy suddenly remembers that she has a secret power that her parents only know. She can read minds of any beings and check their memories for the past year.

[I wonder if they will believe me if I tell them the truth. That... Alaric, Jillian, and both of their families will kill the three of them to control Crimson Hound pack. That I was reborn six months before that sickening tragedy.]

Her eyes dilated after she heard what he said next. No! He's just lying! He must have used underhanded magic. That's why she can hear his thoughts!

"Kassy, are you okay?" Alaric asks.

Alaric tries to touch her, but he turns pale. She shifts her eyes to Miguel and realizes how deep and scary the hatred he had for Alaric Taylor.

"Stay away from my mate, bastard," he asserts madly.

His tone was filled with unexplainable wrath. His inner thoughts... Are they the truth? Miguel grabs her face, forcing her to keep her gaze at him.

"I don't f*cking care if you'll hate me for eternity, but I'm not handing you over to anyone. Whether you like it or not, I, Miguel Curtis, will be your only mate in this lifetime, Kassidy Silver," he asserts firmly and territorial too.

He's informing her. She can sense that. "Miguel, are you disrespecting the family that helped you, huh? Look around. The guests were looking on us. Stop being shameless!" Alaric asserts.

Jayden grabs Alaric's shoulder to stop him from getting closer to us. And yet... Her eyes were still locked on his. She stays quiet and starts reading Miguel's mind. To watch his memories as if they were a movie.

Her body freezes when she discovers what Miguel sacrifices for her. A week before her coming-of-age, on the full moon of that month, she will use a ritual to change the name of her mate. He gives her half of his life force secretly.

She tried to control herself and continue. She witnessed how he avenges her death and how he weeps after he saw our lifeless bodies. He's not lying. His thoughts weren't lying to her.

She saw how she manages the Crimson Hound and never forgets to let our pack members know that he's doing his best because Dad had taught him a lot, even how to be a good leader.

She also saw how Miguel ends Alaric's and Mr. Taylor's lives. Even when he sits on that balcony and wishes for a second chance to be with her.

"Alpha, Luna, do something. Miguel was trying to ruin your anniversary celebration!" her cousin exclaimed.

She blinks and looks at Jillian. Her cousin thought she was asking for her help. She was dragged by her cousin, and Miguel's sharp gaze landed on Jillian. "Stop glaring at Jill or I'll gauge your eyes," Alaric threatened. What she saw was a man desperately protecting his other woman.

"Enough," Dad calmly utters, but his tone shows the power of an alpha. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I'll explain my side tomorrow," Miguel says.

He scoops me using his strong right arm, making her sit on it. He raised his head and looked at her. "I have to speak with my princess. I'm afraid I really have to ruin your twentieth wedding anniversary.

I'll make it up for you and for the pack. I promise," he says. Alaric scoffs. "Put Lady Kassandra down, nobody," Alaric warns. She controls her temper.

Kassidy knew that everything she learned was the truth. "Honey?" Mom asks.

She smiled. "It's okay, Mom and Dad. Enjoy the rest of the party. You both know that Miguel won't hurt me, right, Dad?" she asserts. Dad smiles.

"Yes. And Miguel, we really have to talk with each other tomorrow," Dad says.

Miguel bows his head and walks away. "Jayden, prepare the car. Let's head to my place," he commands. "Understood," Jayden replied.

The three of us stayed silent inside the car for the whole damn fifteen minutes, which favors her. She's processing everything that she learned from her deceased mate's memories.

She didn't know if that could be called a past life, but she realized how he carries everything on his own after they died. Jillian and Alaric were wrong. He's not an opportunist.

"We're here," he utters.
