Chapter 8 8.

- POV AIDEN

"Is everything ready?" I ask and my brother nods in agreement.

"Yes, it's in the shed waiting for you!" he says and I sigh.

"Great! Let's go."

We pick up the horses and head for the shed.

...

We got off the horses and headed for the door, greeting one of my men who was on the lookout, making sure that no one entered or rode into this area.

I stare at the audacious idiot who dared to betray me... I hate betrayers, they're always liars and they know how to disguise themselves.

As soon as he notices my presence, his face turns even paler and I smile.

"Well... well... well... what have we here?" I say, approaching him.

"Sir, I swear... I didn't do anything!" he defends himself and I curve my lips into a smile.

"No? Then explain to me, how you got to Gonzales to tell him about our arsenal of weapons, were you sleepwalking?" I ask and he swallows dryly.

"Come on... I'm waiting for your explanation," I say, staring at his face.

"Please don't kill me, I beg you, I'll do anything."

"Once a whistleblower, always a whistleblower, only if I were a fool to accept you here knowing that you were able to betray me and now you're trying to do the same to the one you joined to stab me in the back.

"Please, Mr. Caccini, give me one more chance."

"My dear little soldier, you're not in a position to ask here, but I want you to know that your betrayal didn't hurt me at all, do you know why?" I ask and he takes a deep breath.

"Because the information you gave was false, totally false, if I thought about leaving you alive, you would die anyway, if not by my hands, then by Gonzales'."

"But..."

"Don't stutter... that's exactly what you heard, you filthy rat, I set it all up and you fell like an idiot mouse straight into the trap."

"Mr. Aiden, please." I roll my eyes at this plea for mercy.

"Enough of this high pity talk, in my mafia there are no second chances, either you serve me and are faithful to me, or you die, and you had your chance and didn't think twice about wasting it."

He starts to wriggle in a failed attempt to get loose.

You idiot!

"Marco, bring over the tray with my little toys," I ask one of my men and he hands it to me.

I grab a pair of garden shears and walk over to the little shit who betrayed me. I put the shears to his face and passed them over him, making him close his eyes.

The feeling of knowing that I'm feared makes me ecstatic... and that's why the other soldiers are here, to know that this is what happens to people who betray me.

"you know... my maid told me that these scissors weren't working properly, so I had them sharpened, and now I'm going to test them so I can give them back to her, after all, I'm a demanding boss who needs things to be perfect."

"No, please," he whines.

"Have the fucking decency to die like a man, you fool, stop whining, you're going to die anyway," I warn him and he continues to cry.

Thom goes over to where the man has released him from the handcuffs, making his body fall onto the metal table, and clasps his hands there again, so that they are off the table.

"I can feel your fear, it's a shame you couldn't feel it when you chose to betray me."

I place the scissors on three of his fingers and before I close them I curve my lips in a smile and then I do it.

His fingers fall to the floor and his cry of pain makes me feel even better.

"You son of a bitch!" he screams in agony and I stare at his face.

"Look at you, showing your true face."

"you're an asshole you deserve to die like that bitch of yours..."

I don't let him broach the subject and I shove the scissors into his mouth, pulling them out and sticking them in several times until they reach his throat.

"God damn it!" I growl and let the anger gradually leave him.

"Aiden!" Thomas calls out, and I let go of the scissors.

"You bastard! I wanted to torture him, but he talked about her, how dare he talk about her? And you know I can't stand it, you son of a bitch!" I snap, punching him in the face even though he's already lifeless.

"I know, you did the right thing, now let's go and get the boys cleaned up," he says and I don't say anything, but then I nod my head, we leave the shed, get the horses, and go back to the house.

We soon leave the horses in the stable and walk down the driveway. As we enter the house, we meet Katherine's friends, one of whom is Thom's conquest, and the other his insufferable sister.

The two of them went up to his room and I was alone with the petulant girl, I wanted to tease her, but she also knew how to play.

"I have no interest in knowing." I'd like to shut her up, but my sister comes in and hands me a glass of drink.

The two of them toast something and then turn their glasses over, I look at her smile and narrow my eyes, suppressing the thought that I find her mouth too inviting.

I haven't forgotten how brave, or crazy, she was to go head-to-head with me, she's brave and fierce, like a jaguar, and I wondered if I'd ever want to tame her.

The two of them decided to go upstairs, and she, who until then had been sitting down, got up and lowered her dress, which had been riding up.

I shook my head in the negative, and as soon as the two had gone upstairs, I headed for my office, there were too many things to do to be wasting time thinking about a girl who was the same age as my sister

But it was strange to feel something other than hatred for her, we've never had a conversation, and every time we meet it's to exchange insults, maybe it's true that hatred breeds desire... and I don't like that at all.
