Chapter 7 Trouble getting worse

Kimberly looked at Eve, who was wearing a thin nightgown with shoulder straps and messy hair, sitting in the middle of the living room on the second floor, hugging herself. Even though Kimberly, Danny's wife, kept cursing and told Eve to admit that she had slept with him, Eve wouldn't admit it. Because she wasn't the perpetrator.

"Kim, forget it, don't take it too personally. This is all because we men drank all night and forgot ourselves." Danny tried to pull Kimberly into his arms, but the Italian woman still didn't accept it. Kimberly is not a possessive person, but because she found out that Eve was Nolan's wife, she became emotional and didn't accept it.

"You bitch doesn't know how to profit! I will do the math for you. Danny, you too-"

"Kim!" Danny exclaimed, making Kimberly suddenly turn towards him. "Even though I hate Nolan, let's not make a fuss until father comes. I want everyone to remain calm until the will arrives in my hands."

Kimberly snorted, she checked her cell phone and then tossed her long hair over her shoulder as she calmed herself down.

"Just wait for it, I will make calculations starting today. You should be lucky that I let you go today." After saying that, Kimberly left the room. Followed by Danny who followed her after he threw a sharp glance at Nolan who was standing in the corner of the room.

The living room was not very spacious, there were only two long sofas, several bookcases, and a TV. Two wall lamps were on, making the room a little dim. Eve's lips were pressed tightly, not intending to explain anything.

"You trust me, right?" Eve glanced at Nolan in horror. In the woman's eyes, there was a look of despair and anger that somehow seemed to be contained. Nolan still hasn't gotten enough rest because he has to accompany relatives who come and take care of several documents for accepting the will. So when this problem arose, Nolan immediately checked the situation and saw it straight away.

Eve slept naked next to Danny. But the incident felt strange because since the party at the house, Danny had disappeared and his bodyguard said he was sleeping in his room. It's just that, why did Eve suddenly go into Danny's room and get naked there? Eve arrived long before the party at the house started.

"I believe in you because of Ruth. Do you have a habit of sleepwalking?"

Eve widened her eyes. "I'm tired because I haven't slept since yesterday, taking care of a stupid wedding, a troublesome dress, and holding back all my nervousness for today. Do I look like I still have the energy to sleepwalk?"

"Then why were you in Danny's room?"

"I don't know! For God's sake, Nolan. Was I given sleeping pills by Lizette until I got caught in this game of hers?"

"Lizette?" Nolan approached, furrowing his brows slightly in confusion. He did see Lizette today at a wedding party with high school friends, but she was only home for a few hours, not until Danny came into the room at that hour.

"Yes. You saw it, didn't you?"

Nolan crossed his arms. When he remembered Lizette, all Nolan could think of was his past embarrassment. "Yes. She came to say congratulations."

"And she suspected me to the point where she almost had my tongue cut off. What does she want? Why does she seem to know about the will?"

Nolan realized he hadn't told much about the history and roots of all the reasons why he had to ask Eve to work on this. But this sudden choice had become the last choice he had. Especially about Lizette...

"Lizette couldn't have done that," Nolan said, hoping he was right.

"Seriously? You've been blinded by her, huh?"

"Watch your mouth, Eve."

Eve got up from the chair and looked at Nolan sharply. "Listen. Lizette will not stop until she possibly gets the will. However, here I am the only one who doesn't understand anything about that damn thing. Now, when I get into trouble like this, you defend her. Can I help you win this game in the future? You're the one that can't cooperate at all!"

At a glance, Nolan remembered Lizette's words last night. During tea in the pavilion with her mother and several invited relatives of Lizette's family, Lizette pulled him to the end of the hall and had an intimate conversation. Nolan still hasn't forgotten how Lizette's soft fingers touched the line of his shirt, penetrating his heart with new hope.

"I can be Eve's replacement. This way, you don't need to bother worrying about the will. Especially Danny, I can trip him up. He has many criminal cases from his gambling."

Nolan is indeed trapped in those old feelings again, but he is married to Eve today. The proof of the letter has been handed over to his father who is still in Paris, but can he push Eve from this job for the sake of Lizette and her sweet mouth? Nolan doesn't know. But all he could feel was his heart pounding every time he imagined his lips close to her face. It was as if the pent-up feelings of longing burst out like firecrackers.

"You know, maybe we didn't need to work together in the first place." Nolan was about to leave, but Eve held him back.

"What did you say?"

Nolan brushed Eve's hand away and pushed her down onto the sofa. He lowered his head, looked at the woman closely, and pierced her through his sharp eyes.

"Rather than you, Lizette is the perfect person. I couldn't get her from the start, but when she came to me herself and intended to help me, how could I refuse? After all, Lizette is more familiar with this matter than you. I don't need to bother explaining rich people's rules to poor people like you."

Eve's eyes turned red, her breathing became rapid and she immediately slapped Nolan until Nolan shocked himself.

"I may be poor but I know how to work! Do you want to terminate your cooperation with me? Don't you dare! It's good that I have to give in to Lizette, the person who embarrassed you! Is Lizette more worthy to be your wife because you love her? No! You don't deserve anyone, Nolan. You're just a stupid man who believes in a vicious woman like Lizet-"

Nolan pressed his hand on Eve's jaw, telling her to stop. Eve gasped, her mouth forced shut, she tried to push away but Nolan's grip was too tight and it hurt her.

"I can silence you in any way, Eve. But look at what's happening now. You were the one sleeping with Danny and if Kimberly could keep her mouth shut, you wouldn't be the only one getting dirty and embarrassing looks from the other relatives. But so do I!" Nolan yanked Eve's face until it fell to the side. The woman was so stunned that she didn't speak.

"Remember, I am your boss. So whether your work is finished or not is up to me. And now, you're done, Eve."

Nolan was about to leave, but Eve immediately pulled Nolan again and this time the woman pushed him hard enough onto the sofa that Nolan was a little shocked.

"Now you listen to me, Mr. Wellington. You are my boss, but you can't order me to finish today just because of Danny's unclear problem. Listen, I was framed. And whoever it is, Lizette is a vicious woman who is trying to steal the will from you. I'm telling you, if you are wise enough for something you consider important, then you will always need me. Even if it had to last a lifetime.... I will do it." Eve's tone slowed, and her gaze blurred for a moment. "For the check... for my father."

For a moment Nolan couldn't stand it and he smiled a little at the irony. "So you want a chance? Is it true that you can get it?"

Eve stared at Nolan sharply. There was deep confidence burning in those beautiful green eyes. Eve's red lips with long tousled hair and shoulder straps that sag to the side make her appearance extraordinarily voluptuous. If Nolan didn't remember that this woman was a poor bitch, maybe Nolan would be carrying her to bed right now.

"I have to." After saying that Eve bent down and pressed her lips on Nolan's with full confidence. What Nolan knew was that the kiss was full of passionate passion. It was immediately difficult for Nolan to let go because Eve deliberately just wanted to let the hot feeling remain in Nolan's mind.
