Chapter 3 NORA CHEATS DEATH

Now at the hospital Miss Kate the matron who admitted Nora the unconscious lady, had done series of test and given various care, she didn't stop caring for her since June had given his word to raise the bill. Kate, during one of the examination sessions on June Maxwell "Nora" of course, she had noticed some bruise and also found out some bleeding around her private part. Kate noted her observation, ran necessary tests, and gave needed treatments. At every stage she kept updating June.

June had gotten home, his mind clouded with worries about raising five hundred US dollars to pay bill for the lady he is responsible for. June was just a road side mechanic, he repairs people's car and any other mechanical device or machine. He resorted to being a mechanic since he graduated college but couldn't secure a job, he was from a low background more like a wretched home. His mother sells bean cake and cheese at one of the local shade nearby. June was the first child and only son, he has two sibling sisters. His father died during a riot that ensued within the community while he was trying to restore peace and order amongst the people. He was shot with a pistol by one of rioters. June's father died while doing his job as a cop. Since then June has been the father figure for his mother and two younger sisters. June to his save box and brought out the money he had saved, about three hundred dollars. He was saving towards the tuition payment of his younger eldest sister who just secured a college admission to study law. "I'm sorry Jane" June muttered to himself as tears rolls down his cheeks "I will make it up to you and ensure your tuition fees are paid" June assured Jane his sister in her absence murmuring to himself. He grab his jacket hoped on his bicycle and rode straight to the hospital, from a distance she sighted Kate the matron and quickly he rested his bicycle against the wall and went straight to Nora's ward, he sat beside Nora as he spoke to Kate. "How is she doing?, any improvement so far?" June asked looking up to Kate from Nora's bed side where he sat. "Yes from the various tests we ran, the results have been hopeful, just that there is a bad news... She was pregnant and she had lost the baby" nurse Kate explained. "What! She was pregnant?" June exclaimed painfully, "she should be stable if we intensify the monitoring and treatment" Kate assured June. "Oh! Thanks to the heavens" June gratefully exclaimed. While Kate and June speak, Nora moved her right arm "did you see that?" June excitedly asked facing Kate "yea its a sign, she would come around soon" Kate assured him again. "But as it is now we will need some money to get some necessary things for her quick recovery" Kate opened up. Immediately June reached for his wallet and brought out his life savings, "here is three hundred bucks, its all I could raise for now, I will get the two hundred balance as soon as I can" June explained as he handed the money to Kate "you are a man of your word, your kind is rare" Kate commended June as always "and your balance is a hundred and eighty dollars not two hundred" Kate reminded June. "Thank you miss Kate, I must go now, please intensify your care, for her quick recovery" June pleaded with the matron and stepped out of the hospital. "What a noble, kind hearted young man, he is no doubt every woman's dream" Kate admired June in her thought as she watched him leave the hospital. Her hands resting on her chest. Kate sat down for a while after June had left, reminiscing about him "it seems I'm beginning to like him, I can feel something" Kate admitted her feelings towards June. "Nurse, nurse" from where Kate was sitting she heard someone called nurse, it was Nora, she had finally woken up and cheated death. Kate speedily approached, "oh thanks you lord, you are finally here, I'm happy for you" Kate happily responded to Nora. "Please help me up to sit" Nora requested. "Are you sure?, I think you should rest a while still" Kate advised "I'm fine please let me sit up" Nora requested "okay if you insist" Kate indulged her assisting her to sit up on the bed. "How did I get here?, how long have I been here?" Nora asked the matron as the support machine beep slowly, "Hmm" Kate sighed trying to disconnect the tube fittings on Nora's body. "Its been three days since you were brought here by an angel, a young handsome man" Kate lustfully described June "did my parents...Oh God" Nora tried to ask who brought her as she abruptly held her ears to her head with her two hands as though she heard a migraine echoed sound. "What happen to your parents? It was Mr June Maxwell who brought you here to be revived and treated, we even registered your file in his name since he didn't know your name" Kate narrated the story to her. "Let me even call him to let him know you are awake now, I'm sure he must be super excited" Kate brought out her phone and called June to break the good news."Thanks to the heavens, I will be there shortly" June responded over the phone. Kate ended the call and began a conversation with her just awoken patient. "So let me start by asking what your name is, where you are from, and what happened that took your body to the road side where June found you" Kate queried and keenly expecting response from her patient. "Well, I can barely remember anything right now, the only thing I can remember now is my name" Nora replied "starting with your name is okay, but how do you feel now, hope you are not feeling any severe pain or echoed sound around your head and ears?" Kate asked trying to confirm the state of her memory, although there were mild swollen bruises on Nora's forehead, which is indicating possible collision of the skull against a hard surface. "The scan shows you are perfectly okay and no any form of fracture whatsoever to your cranium" Kate confirmed the scan test result done on Nora while she was unconscious, affirming there shouldn't be a case of amnesia, that is a brain situation where someone can't remember past events. "I hope I'm not forgetting things due to my unconsciousness for the past few days" Nora opined optimistically. "Back to your question nurse, my name is Nora Silvia Williams, I graduated as a paediatrician, my dad is a professor of pharmacology, my mum is a lawyer and business tycoon..you must of heard of the Williams real estates" Nora detailed "Are you the Williams' daughter?" Kate asked surprisingly "yea that's me" Nora replied nodding positively. Nora Williams? She is the Basher's fiancée. Meanwhile, June had just gone to sell his bicycle to raise the balance for Nora's hospital bills. He also sold his jacket along side to make up for the amount he actually needed. "Let me quickly return to the hospital so I can balance up the bill, after all it is worth the while, the poor lady has her life back" with excitement and feeling fulfilled, June trekked to the hospital having sold his bicycle to pay bills. Now it's been three days since the Williams have been searching for Nora their only daughter, who was engaged to Basher Anderson.

Now Nora seems not to remember anything but only a few, could she be suffering from amnesia? Kate's feelings for June where does it head. How would the Williams find their daughter?.
