Chapter 4 4

CHAPTER 4 | Come with us

"Sister, look. These are my grades from the first semester, they have been released," Celestine said excitedly while holding her report card. Mom and I have a video call today. I brought the phone closer to my face because the screen was a bit blurry and I couldn't see much.

"I can't see much, Tine. Just send it to me on messenger," I said.

"How are you there, kid?" now mom is also facing the screen.

Here I am now in the living room while resting for a while after cleaning the rooms. It's weekends now so Lily doesn't have school.

"It's okay, mom. It's okay."

"It's good," my mother's voice trembled. She's smiling but her eyes are telling the other way around. "You can eat well there?"

"Oh, mom, it's still too much so you don't have to worry about anything," I laughed to reduce the growing emotions in him. "Dad, how are you?"

"Is it your dad? That's it! It's like he's sulking while we've been getting asked about you a little bit," mom answered, causing me to stop a little. It seemed like there was some kind of pain in my chest when I thought of dad, but in the end, I forced myself to smile.

I understand dad. he's just being protective over me, but I also want him to understand that I want to help our family. I want to help in any way.

"I know he will understand me too," I said softly as I tried to swallow the lump that was forming in my throat.

we talked on the phone for a few more minutes before I continued the work when it was over.

[Where is she?]

It was Sir Jax, calling on the phone. He called as he often did to see how his son was

"I'm in the garden, sir, with Kuya Baste." I answered while standing in the doorway of the double doors and looking in the direction of the person in question.

[Had she already eaten lunch?]

"Yes, sir. It's over."

[Good. . . ] There was a moment of silence on the other line before I heard his heavy breathing. [I'll be home late tonight. I have to work with some errands. Can you look after my daughter until I come home?]

"U-uh, yes, sir. There's no problem," I replied promptly. "Never mind, what should I say when he asks?"

He paused a bit as if he was thinking. [Just tell her that I had to work with something very important.]

"Okay, sir. Noted." I replied. "Good luck at work."

I heard him chuckle on the other line. [Yeah, thank you, Seia.]

I was preparing lunch while Lily was watching cartoons in the living room. she was caressing her rabbit stuffed toy. He kissed you tightly as if he was afraid of losing it from his sight. OL I chuckled and shook my head at the end. I took care of Lily first and only then did Kuya Baste have lunch. I'm glad that she is now eating vegetables especially carrots.

"Seiya!!!" I was startled when I heard Lily's scream from inside the bathroom, so I quickly let go of the broom I was holding before running towards it. I almost slipped because of the wet floor but I just ignored it and rushed to him.

"What happened-ah!" I asked in confusion but I couldn't finish what I was going to say because I immediately felt the cold water immediately embrace my whole body after he turned the shower on me.

"Hahahaha!" she chuckled wickedly. I couldn't reprimand him because of the stream of water running down my face. I covered my face with my hands.

"Stop it, Lily!" I reprimanded her while gradually advancing closer to her.

"Hahahaha! You are already wet!" it's still teasing.

"Here Ezili!" I snorted but it seemed that the pan just turned a deaf ear to my reprimands.

I averted my face from the shower that he tried to put on me. My eyes were half shut as I tried to stop her from what she's doing. I looked around even though it was difficult to open my eyes because of the water running down my face. When I saw the mug on the side, I quickly reached for it and filled it with water to sprinkle on him. Lily let go of the shower and I took that opportunity to approach her.

"Hahahaha!" I was about to scold him but immediately stopped when I heard his laughter. She looks so happy that time. Even if I wanted to get angry, I couldn't seem to because of his laughter. "You're dripping wet now, Seia! Hahahahah!"

I swallowed and diverted my eyes instead. I just sighed before wiping my face with a dry towel in the compartment. I looked at him again afterwards.

"You're really young. You know a lot about life," I shook my head and then helped him finish rinsing. "Don't take too long and you might get caught."

It was already dark outside when we finished our dinner. Sir Jax still doesn't come as expected. Lily didn't ask anything yet because she seemed distracted at that time. He only asked after we finished eating dinner. Maybe he noticed until now because his daddy still isn't there.

"Where's daddy, Seia?" it asked me. we are both sitting on the living room as we watched movies. The lights are dimmed and only the light coming from the flatscreen serves as a light there. I looked at him.

"You're daddy is still working with something very important." I answered her.

"He won't be home?" she pouted her lips. I raised an eyebrow when I saw his wide eyes that seemed to be pulled by sleep.

"Of course he'll be home. He'll be home for you," I smiled at him. I moved slightly to stroke his hair. "Are you sleepy?"

"No," she shook her head dramatically. "I will wait for daddy."

It was already nine in the evening and Lily was already asleep on the couch while waiting for her daddy to arrive. I took the remote on the table and turned off the television. I sighed as I stared at the child who's peacefully sleeping next to me, drained and tired. He didn't do anything but reprimand but he looked more tired than me.

I moved closer to Lily to carefully lift her from her lying position. he's not that heavy so I didn't have any trouble leading him up to the second floor of the house. I slowly walked upstairs until I reached her room. I slowly opened the door while avoiding the child waking up in my arms. I slowly laid her down on the bed and started fixing the comforter around her. I stroked his hair a few times while watching his face.

Lily looks exactly like her dad. His carbon copy. It looks like this kid got all of Sir Jax's facial features. she's really like a girl version of Sir Jax. I wonder how pretty her mommy is. His mommy must be so beautiful that the product can be this beautiful.

"Goodnight sleepyhead," I whispered and planted a swift kiss on her hair.

I carefully stood up and distanced myself from him to avoid waking him up. I turned the lights to dim and started to step back. I almost screamed in shock when I turned around to see Sir Jax standing in the doorway. My eyes widened as I stared at him as he leaned forward. I didn't even hear his car honking outside or even the footsteps of his feet approaching.

I held my chest as I breathed heavily.

CHAPTER 4.1 | Come With Us

"You surprised me, sir," I said softly while touching my own chest. Has he been standing there for a while?

"Is she asleep?" he asked raucously. I gulped as I watched him walk towards his daughter.

"Yes, sir."

"Did she ask about me?" he looked at me.

"He said he'll wait for you just in case he's already asleep," I answered in a small voice.

I saw how he caressed Lily's hair and then kissed her. I let him in first and told him to go out first. I glanced at Lily's room one more time before going down the stairs. I went straight to the kitchen to get a drink of water when I saw Sir Jax coming downstairs and he didn't seem to be in the boy's room for long. I pretended to be busy with what I was doing even though I had a suspicion that it was close to where I was standing.

"Seia," he called which made me look at him.

"Sir?" I finished drinking and now gave full attention to the young man. It stopped opposite the kitchen island where I was. we both looked at each other. He rested his hands on the table while staring blankly at me.

"Thank you for taking care of my daughter today," the way he said those words made my heart flatter. His voice screams with gentleness. I couldn't help but to flush. I don't know if it's normal for your chest to heave a lot when a handsome person thanks you.

I gulped and kept a smile. I headed slightly afterwards.

"That's my job, sir."

"So far, you're doing a great job. among all of her babysitters, you were the only one who lasted a week," he smirked. I looked up when I heard his laughter. My heart suddenly pounded inside my chest. I also laughed to relieve my heaving chest.

"Lily is naughty but she can bear it." I jested and laughed. "She's just a kid, so it's obvious that she likes to play around."

Sir Jax scratched the side of his brow as he suppressed a smile.

"Yeah, she's a bit naughty," he bit his lip. We looked at each other once. noticing that it seemed to last for a few seconds, I took the initiative to avoid him. His eyes are just too much to deal with. Sir Jax didn't stay there for long and said goodbye to go up. I just don't know why that same night I spent the whole night smiling in my bed while staring at the ceiling.

It feels weird.

The next day I woke up early to prepare breakfast. It's sunday! On this day, father and son often go out at noon for a walk. Sir Jax doesn't have school every week and that's the only day he can give to Lily that's why he really makes the most of it. They usually go to the mall, park, or even vacation in neighboring provinces.

I went down the stairs after fixing myself. I even patted the uniform before going straight to the kitchen to take care of their breakfast. Sir Jax and Lily were probably still asleep so I still had time to prepare something to eat that morning. I was in the middle of cooking when Sir Jax suddenly appeared in front of me. he was half naked and his hair was a bit wet and disheveled. Sweat was dripping and a white towel was hanging over his shoulder. My eyes widened and immediately averted my gaze.

"S-sorry, sir," I said confusedly without looking at him.

"You're early," he said in a baritone voice.

"O-opo, I was going to cook breakfast. I'm sorry," my tongue was almost in knots. "I-I thought you were still asleep."

"I was in the gym," he answered casually.

"U-uh. . ."

"Is she still sleeping?"

"O-opo, sir," I stuttered. I felt him move by my side but I really tried not to glance at him.

"I see. I'll wake her up then," he said before walking upstairs. I was the only one who was embarrassed by his speechlessness. I let out a deep sigh right after he left.

what the fvck is that? He's so confident to bare his body in front of me?!

"Daddy are we going to go somewhere today?" Lily asked while eating breakfast. I just stood on the side watching them there. I saw that the young man's eyes first went to me before he looked at his son.

"Yes, baby. Where do you want to go?"

Lily glanced at me which made me raise my brow. She smirked as if she remembered something.

"I want to go to the mall, funhouse," she answered as she turned to face her dad again. When I turned Sir Jax's direction I saw that he was looking at me now. I bit my bottom lip before moving to avoid his eyes.

"Then, we'll go to the mall. finish your food first," said by her father.

"I want Seia to come with us too, daddy." My eyes widened when I looked at Lily. The boy is now grinning as he stares at me. Does that one have another plan?

my lips protruded, trying to say something but I just couldn't find the right words for it. "U-uh, s-sir-"

"Do you want her to come with us?" repeating it to the child.

"Yes, daddy."

I bit my lower lip. Sir Jax and I met eyes when he turned to me. I saw how his jaw tightened while looking at me.

"U-uh, Lily wants you to come with us," he trailed. He seemed troubled. "Is it okay with you?"

I gulped and then nodded eventually. "O-okay."

I just fixed my uniform and then went to get in the car. Lily was in the backseat while I was in the front seat where I usually sit. At first I thought it was Kuya Baste who would drive to deliver us but I was so nervous when I saw that Sir Jax entered the driver's seat and started the engine. he took a quick glance at his daughter on the rearview mirror to check on her.

"Have you put your seatbelt on?"

"Yes daddy!" the little girl giggled.

I felt Sir Jax turn to me afterwards, but I remained stiff in my seat.

"Same goes to you, Seia." I heard him say while he was busy putting on his seatbelt. I didn't even look at him.

"P-what?"

We both looked at each other before he looked down at my body. My eyes widened then I quickly hugged myself. What was that? why did he scan my body?

I heard him taunt a low chuckle when he saw what I did. "I'm talking about the seatbelt, lady. Please, wear it."

Oh the seatbelt?
