Chapter 3 The Test: Part 1

Musa couldn't wait for the break of dawn; his head was filled with endless possibilities of what he could do. He thought of ways he could use his newfound abilities to his advantage; some of them were cool, others a bit dark and sinister.

The minute the clock hit 5 A.M., he jumped off the bed and went straight to the bathroom in order to prepare for school. He was so excited to give his powers a try beyond just Isaac and the betting shop. He wanted to carry out a mass test of what he could do and see.

Just as he was dressing up in his room, his phone rang, and it was Daniel. "Bro, are you up?" Daniel asked. In Musa's response, "Yeah, I'm up! What's up?" "Well, nothing serious. By the way, Isaac is also on the call. Hold on, let me put him on," Daniel said. Musa puts the phone on loudspeaker and continues his preparation for school. Just then, he hears Isaac's voice over the phone. Daniel was successful in converting the call into a conference call.

"Guy, how far, na? Wetin dey sup?" Isaac asked. "I just dey oh. I'm almost done preparing for school sef. I have one hot test this morning, and I want to be in school on time to test something." Musa responded. "Ah! See this ole! Him wan go cheat for test. Kai, walahi, you're not a good person. Something wey you go write the test like a normal person, you wan go do expo," exclaimed Isaac.

Daniel, as always, didn't say much during the conversation but decided to chip in, "Musa, just be careful. Isaac, free that young man. As for me, I don't have anything in school till 3 P.M, so I guess I would see you guys then." Isaac kept quiet for a bit, then decided to speak, "Daniel, no be by good English. Make this man no go cast this parol oh. That na wetin concern me."

Musa, hearing what Isaac said, picked up the phone and told Isaac that he wasn't going to do such a thing. He explained how he merely wanted just to test his abilities beyond just Daniel. After Musa was done explaining, they said their goodbyes and dropped the call. Musa dashed off the house in a hurry, like someone late for a meeting.

On reaching school, Musa's mind was fixed on one particular individual, and that was the course lecturer himself. He had plans of touching the man just for a minute to see if he could get a glimpse of the answers or the questions of the test. The test was scheduled for 11 A.M, but Musa arrived at the school around 8 A.M, three hours early. He wasn't going to take chances on fulfilling his plans.

Musa spent his time loitering around the lecturer's office. He would occasionally go to the park nearby to sit, whiling away time with his phone, one eye on the office of the lecturer and another eye on the car park. He constantly kept thinking about whether it would work or not. "Well, if it doesn't work, I'm glad that I've read. I can't lose on both ends," He said to himself.

Slowly, the empty school compound began to spring with life as more and more people began to troop in. Most were students who had morning classes, some were non-academic staff cleaning offices, and some were people selling at the school market, opening their shops, and getting ready for the day.
