Chapter 3 Chapter 3 Visit a Senior

Trent did not think too much about it. He figured, since Rosanna offers a temporary place, I might as well go there.

It doesn't matter to me what I do anymore.

Ever since I crossed the border five years ago to avenge my comrade in Wolf Fang Mercenary and ended up in jail for five years, I've moved on.

By coming to Los Angeles, I want to reunite with Abert. Also, I need to bring the news of my comrade's death to his family in Los Angeles.

I want Spencer's wife to know that her husband was a hero, that he died for his comrades, and that he was the pride of the Wolf Fang Mercenary!

About half an hour later, Abert drove Trent to a luxurious building.

It was the location of the Lennard Group.

"How is it? It's imposing, right?" Abert said proudly.

Trent looked up and was slightly surprised. "This is Rosanna's family company?"

"Yes. It's a famous jewelry group. I didn't lie to you, did I? As long as I am here, there will be a place for you in Los Angeles."

Trent smiled, "Thank you, Abert."

"Hey, what did I say? There's no need to thank me. If you thank me one more time, I'll be upset."

Abert pretended to be angry and frowned.

"Alright then."

"That's more like it. Come on and follow me in."

After saying that, Abert quickly led Trent into the building and came to the HR Department on the fourth floor.

The second they entered the building, they felt the cool air from the air conditioner blowing on their faces, making them feel refreshed in the hot summer.

"Hey, isn't this Ms. Lennard's good-for-nothing husband? Why is he here?"

"I don't know. Look! He is here with a shabby man. He can't be a country bumpkin from the countryside, right?"

"It's possible. Look at him. It seems that he has never seen the world. Damn, I even feel that he is polluting the air here."

The surrounding people immediately commented, their words harsh.

Abert was busy looking for the office to handle the procedures for Trent, and he didn't notice. However, Trent heard their discussion.

Trent thought, Abert has become a live-in son-in-law...

They call him a loser.

He clenched his fists and sighed in his heart. Then he continued to think, although our family is from the countryside, Mom and Dad said before they died that we should always have a backbone. Abert... Why did you become a live-in son-in-law?

Forget it.

I should keep my mouth shut. Maybe Abert has a true love for Rosanna.

They have a daughter already. I shouldn't talk too much.

"Come in. Trent Brougham?" a woman in a black dress walked out of the office and said coldly.

"Yes."

Trent nodded and entered the office.

"Come here, Trent, let me introduce her to you. This is the top ten beauty in the group, the general manager of the HR Department..."

"Save the introduction. I'm not interested in knowing your brother. A cleaner, right? Here is the contract. Fill it out and go to the staff dormitory to get the key. His work starts next Monday," Laura Eastwood's expression was cold as she said in a tone full of disdain.

"Well..." The scene was a bit awkward.

Abert scratched the back of his head. "Ms. Eastwood, come on. Be nicer, OK? He is my younger brother..."

"So what? Do you think you could be the manager of the Logistics Department if the CEO hadn't asked you to be his family's live-in son-in-law? And you even get to find a job for your relative here. I'm already being nice enough by giving him the contract. It's up to him whether he fills it out or not."

With that, Laura took out a pen and threw it in front of Trent.

"This..."

Abert thought, this is so disrespectful.

His face was ashen.

However, he did not dare to voice his anger, which was the sad reality of being a family's live-in son-in-law.

Seeing the expression on Abert's face, Trent felt bad and said, "It's fine, Abert. Ms. Eastwood is a noble lady, and I'm just an ordinary man. Not knowing her isn't a big deal. I'll fill out the contract, and then you and I can live together."

"I'm glad that you know. A man from the country should know his weight. There is someone that is out of his league," Laura said.

Trent didn't bother to say anything. He thought, you are nothing but a snob. If not for Abert's sake, I would have thrown the contract in your face.

I have made up my mind. I'll help Abert establish his authority in the group from now on.

It makes me unhappy when hearing others address him as the Lennard family's live-in son-in-law.

Trent picked up the pen and left after filling up the contract.

Abert followed him and came to the corridor.

"Trent, Ms. Eastwood is a straightforward person. Don't take it personally."

"I know, Abert. Sorry to trouble you. I'm fine." As the last disciple of a great warrior and a doctor, Trent would not argue with ordinary people.

"Alright then. Your work starts next Monday, so there are still a few days left. I'll take you out for a meal tonight, and then we'll spend these days hanging out."

"No need, Abert. I have to visit some old friends. I'll call you if anything," Trent refused.

"Oh, OK then. I ... I'll get out of your hair now. The staff dormitory is right behind the building. Get some sleep and call me if you're hungry, OK?" Abert smiled stiffly.

"OK."

After instructing Trent, Abert turned around and left. For some reason, Trent felt that Abert's back was a little lonely.

Abert thought, I'm Trent's elder brother. I wanted to introduce him to the world and meet some important people at the beginning. However, because of my status as a live-in son-in-law, he got despised as well. I am so helpless and guilty, but there's nothing I can do.

Perhaps this is the pain shared by futile men in their thirties.

Trent did not dwell on it. Thinking of the recommendation letters his boss gave him, he wanted to visit a retired old man in the afternoon and ask the old man to check the whereabouts of Spencer Pratt's wife.

Trent left the HR Department as well.

Just as he left, a handsome young man in a suit and tie came to the HR Department.

Barton Simpson walked past Trent while glancing at Trent. He was a bit puzzled and thought, when did the HR Department recruit such a loser?

He frowned and walked into Laura's office.

"Mr. Simpson, hello. You are here for Ms. Lennard, right? Let me make an appointment for you."

"No need. I just went to Rosanna's office, and she wasn't inside. So, I came to ask you to make an appointment for me tomorrow. I am going to visit an old man in the afternoon."

Laura nodded. "Alright, Mr. Simpson. I'll do it now. Alright. It's done. I made an appointment for you tomorrow."

"Thank you. By the way, the man who just walked out was..." Barton said.

"Oh, that man? He is just a loser from the countryside. He is Trent Brougham, the younger brother of Ms. Lennard's good-for-nothing husband. He will be a cleaner for the group by relying on his brother. He is ignorant. Did he offend you?" Laura asked carefully.

She thought, Barton is the eldest son of a second-rate family engaged in the jade business in Los Angeles. He is a very noble man and has been very close to Rosanna lately.

Everyone in the company says that he is one of Rosanna's admirers.

"No. So, he is a cleaner, right? I see. I'll go now. Bye."

"OK, Mr. Simpson. Take care."

...

At one o'clock in the afternoon, after grabbing a few bites, Trent took the introduction letters and came to the entrance of a high-level villa area directly taken over by the soldiers in the city center.

Just as he arrived, Barton stopped in front of the door in a green Lamborghini.

Barton lowered the window. The second he saw Trent, his expression immediately changed.

Barton thought, isn't this guy Rosanna's loser husband's brother from the countryside? What is he doing here?
