Chapter 4 In-Law Meeting

Lili, who returned home, felt very annoyed with the two rich men that she met today. He was annoyed with Relli and surprised by Kevin, who was willing to pay Relli one billion to prevent the marriage from happening.

'Ish.., those rich people. It's very easy to waste money, one billion is just like hundreds or thousands. It's so annoying,' she cursed.

She regretted the hundreds of thousands money, that she had difficulty getting even though she had worked all day. This hipness is really hard for Lili.

Not only does she always have to excel, she also has to work hard to be able helping his mother and save for college costs.

Look contrast, to Relli. Who seems to live a luxurious life, with a nice car and plays with lots of women. Lili met Relli several times when martial arts competitions were held.

Relli is the main sponsor in every tournament held. Deon is his older brother in martial arts training, who is also Relli's college friend.

Even though she never spoke to Relli, Lili often noticed the man's behavior at several meetings. In fact, Deon often talks about Relli's bad habits.

As for Kevin, Lili only knew him briefly. That also leaves the problem of, unfinished work.

'So..., why does that man want to spend one billion on me?' she asked herself again until fall asleep.

Morning came, as agreed. Lili headed to Kevin's lawyer's office, as did Relli. They agreed to convey to Kevin their marriage agreement.

"Okay, if you agree to get married. I will carry out according to the testament," even though Kevin felt betrayed by Relli, he still tried to stay calm.

"The next step is a family meeting, I will report this to Father."

Kevin then broke up the meeting and headed to his father's room and give a report. He did not expect that there would be a follow-up testament that given by his father, for the sake of a meeting between the two families.

Lili decide to wait for Kevin, come out of his office. She wanted to ask about what Relli said last night.

"Why you still here?" Kevin was surprised when the girl approached him.

"Why..., you pay Relli a billion to prevent this wedding?" asked Lili.

"I just don't want Relli's silliness to ruin other people. He has been so troublesome since childhood, is there something wrong with that?" Kevin hides the truth.

"Of course, something didn't't wrong. I forgot that one billion is just a small amount for you guys," Lili suppressed her suspicions.

"Yes, one billion is not big on ours. What are you thinking of?" Kevin asked.

"There isn't any. I was just surprised because I thought it was a lot of money. I forgot that it's only a lot for you," replied Lili.

"You don't need to think about the behavior, the two of us. We always think differently," Kevin explain.

"When did he say that to you?" Kevin asked.

"Last night, he came to discuss this marriage issue with me. When he said that, I felt strange about something. But, It turns out that it's not a big problem," answered Lili, who then said goodbye to Kevin.

The long-awaited afternoon has come, now the two families face each other. Linda Supraja and Mr. Raharja meet again, after decades.

"Wait a minute, about your father. Why he not join this meeting?" Mr. Raharja asked Lili.

"My father is dead, it's just the two of us."

Lili's answer surprised Mr. Raharja. He didn't expect that Linda had been a widow for so many years.

"I'm sorry, I don't know about that." Mr. Raharja increasingly lost face when facing Linda, who had been acting like they didn't know each other.

"Okay, because the two families have gathered. I will read the will again regarding this arranged marriage," Kevin started this meeting.

Everyone who heard Kevin's words immediately calmed down and listened.

"You two are descendants of this family. Before we started this business together, we decided on your marriage first. As time went by, this business grew so rapidly that it resulted in a lot of ongoing investment. It would be useless to share something so profitable."

"Therefore, all these assets will go to our two grandchildren if they get married, will increase if they have children and will continue to flow if there is no divorce in the future. Hopefully a divorce doesn't happen or you will lose all these assets," Kevin read the testament seriously.

Everyone silent and pondered all those sentences again. Mr. Raharja tried to find a way, other solution than marriage. He became confused when he found out, that Linda was widowed.

Moreover, Relli is also not ready to get married. The father was afraid that his son would end up hurting the daughter, of the woman he once loved.

"Wait Son... wait a minute. What if they don't want to get married, don't they get the inheritance from their grandfather at all?" Finally Mr. Raharja dared to ask.

"According to the will, all assets will be given to charity. However, my father gave me the second testament and it was read out at a family meeting," answered Kevin.

"Okay, can the testaments read now? I'm afraid that this marriage will actually make both of them victims," said Mr. Raharja.

"Of course, Uncle. I'll open it now," answered Kevin who then took out the envelope and prepared to read it.

"If these two families have met and the two grandchildren still don't want to be matched. So, they will still receive it. After they are sixty years old and have children or successors. For calculations and all administrative purposes, it can be adjusted to the income from all investments held."

Everyone returned to silence and reflected on the decision to marry. Lili and Relli also did the same thing.

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Linda. Do you think this all is good?" Mr. Raharja asked.

"There is nothing good when it comes to inheritance or money. I am only the representative of my daughter, Lili. I will not interfere with his decision, she will go through all this."

Mrs. Linda did not seem happy with this meeting. Everything related to the match, made him remember the past.

The tragedy of the fight and all the suffering, she experienced as an heir and the mental burden still left scars in his heart.

Especially if her future in-laws is Mr. Raharja, who used to be the biggest conflict in her life.

"Mommy, come on. Help me here, okay?" In a low voice, Lili begged her mother.

"Mama doesn't want you to exchange your life for money," answered Mrs. Linda.

Hearing Linda's harsh words, made Mr. Raharja even more uncomfortable. He still feels guilty about his previous actions, wants to make amends if he can.

"Okay, Mrs. Linda. Actually, the root of the problem in all of this is my son. I promise to fix all this," Mr. Raharja intends to cancel this marriage.

"Is it true..., that's very kind of you, Sir. Improve or worsen only God knows. Oh... sorry, isn't God is you?!" Mrs. Linda could no longer hold back the hatred in her heart.

"Mom, please. Don't be so rude," Lili, who felt uncomfortable, apologize.

"You know it just a small talk, then why you still want to enter this beast pen?" replied Mrs. Linda.
