I gave her my blood but instead of using them for the intended purpose, she turned her back on me and made another deal behind my back with the wolf lord alpha Ramon."
Coming closer, Olivia further asked, "And what was the deal she made with him?''
Demusa lifted her head with pain and sorrow. It was obvious to Olivia that she was feeling hurt and frustrated at that moment. "She used my blood to prepare a charm that would see all my remaining powers taken as a vampire. It was after that incident, that I started getting old. Somehow, I realized that my power of foresight was not affected and if I could be opportune to taste human blood again, the spell would break. Not only will I become fresh and normal again but, I will also regain all my lost powers. I will inflict untold pain on all those who had kept me in this condition for centuries. I would have loved to start with your stepmother. That was the reason why when I saw you my heart gladdened because, not only will I have the much-needed blood for my freedom but, I will equally get back to Catherina."
"Is that what you were thinking? Killing me is like doing Catherina a whole new favor.'' Olivia sighed before sitting down on the floor. "She wanted me dead as much as you do.''
"Yes, I know. I already told you the reason you were here. Nevertheless, there is something that is still missing from the picture. In addition to betraying me, Catherina promised them a human female who knows no man, a sacrifice deemed good for their moon goddess. Catherina didn't just screw only me but, she did the same with you.''
Sensing the real danger she was in, Olivia stared at the Demusa for some time before breaking her silence, "what can we do to escape?''
"Hahahaha. No one has ever escaped from the wolf's prison. All that came in here I killed them all. However, I'm yet to taste human blood."
"What about those you claimed to kill in the past?''
"Oh, those? Those were not humans but erring wolves whose punishment was death. You know, I enjoy having my little revenge any time I bite their neck for blood. But at the same time, I'm pained because they are useless. No matter how many times I drink them, they will never get me out of here. Now to answer your question, Olivia, there is no escape. Only one of us can leave here alive. The way I see it, I'm that person because I won't stop at anything until I have your blood!''
Olivia need not be told that maintaining total distance from the former vampire mistress is the key to her survival in the prison while awaiting the day she will be sacrificed to the moon goddess. "I won't let you have what you want,'' defiant Olivia responded to Demusa.
"Fine! But anyway, you must surely die Hahahaha!"
The words from the old vampire kept her awake that night. She thought about everything she had been told, but again, she was helpless. There is little she can do, but let fate have its way. Everything which Demusa told her that night, was not so surprising because she had seen it all in her dream.
Allan came home that night disappointed and almost unable to sleep. Unlike him, Gary was less worried. For him, he had done the right thing by selling out his childhood friend. Catherina had threatened to have his blind father killed if he disobeyed her order. It was something he couldn't back down from, given the fact that he lost his mother when he was twelve years old. The absence of his mother played out on him over the years. Therefore, losing his father to the Witch Queen is like doubling his sorrows. He had thought about it for a long before agreeing to betray his friend, Olivia.
All of a sudden Allan jumped up from his bed after battling sleeplessness the previous night. He has waiting for this moment. He had wished morning would come so quickly. He skipped breakfast just to catch up with Gary. Garry was having breakfast with his blind father in the dining room when he arrived.
"Allan, so good to see you!" Exclaimed Garry upon seeing his best friend arrive. "What brings you here this early morning, permit me to ask that question."
"There is no problem at all," he forced a smile across his face as he replied to Gary.
"Allan, is that you? You are here?" Gary's father asked. He seemed a bit surprised to have his son's best friend around, at that time of the day.
"Yes, Mr Rosenberg. I'm the one. Good morning and how was your night?" Said, Allan.
"I tell you what son, my night was good too," he forced a smile on his face. "You came at the right time, would you mind joining us for breakfast?"
"Yes, Allan. Come on join us, there is plenty to eat," Gary motioned to Allan with his right hand, showing him an empty chair to sit near them.
"Thank you so much," Allan wasted no time in going over to the dining table. He sat and ate with them.
When breakfast was over, he did take a walk with Gary in the garden. The walk flicks stones at some colorful birds seeking nectar from beautiful flowers of short trees in the garden.
"So, what brings you here this early morning? I believe you are up to something this time?" Began Garry. The worrying look on Allan's face made it obvious to him that all was not well.
