Chapter 6 The calm before the storm

*CHAPTER SIX*

ROME'S POV

"In light of the recent increase in sales, I'd say this merger was a good choice," she said, taking a gulp of her red wine.

Vivianna Lee Dawn, a man in a woman's body. An industry giant and one of the few people I can call a friend.

"You're one of the reasons why I find intelligent women sexy," I said, flashing a smile. She flashed me her ring. Yeah, that.

"Off the market Rome". She said lazily

"Ouch" I faked out clutching my chest.

I loved my women like Vivianna, strong, rich, smart, cunning and seductive. The total package. Alas, marriage and the whole relationship drama didn't appeal to me anymore.

With Vivianna by my side, we would've been indestructible, a force to be reckoned with. But she was married to a chicken.

A man with a baby's heart. She was the man in the relationship, he was soft and weak.

That's what love does to you, it disorganises your life, a strong woman like Vivianna and a weakling like Christian Dawn. Pathetic.

She fell hard for him, and they got married within a month after the wedding.

I was interrupted by the ringing of my phone.

"Romeo, what now?" I said over the phone

"I need to see you brother, I messed up" he said slowly

"What's happening, Rome?" Vivianna asked seriously.

I held up two fingers in the air, as a means of telling to hold on.

"WHAT DID YOU DO ROMEO" I roared into the line.

"Are you at the office" he said

"MEET ME HERE NOW!" I hung up and tried to calm myself.

"Brother trouble?" She said slowly.

"He's done something bad, I can feel it," I said, staring out the window.

"Well, then I'll take my leave now. Don't want me meddling now, do we?

"Thank you Vivianna, I'll give you a call later".

"Wear something nice to the gala next week"

She gives me a small smile and walks out of the office.

"Sir, your brother is here" Suzy announced

"Let him in". I said, mentally preparing myself for the shit storm Romeo had created now.

"Brother" he walks in looking gloomy.

Something was really wrong and I think it is serious.

"What did you do Romeo?" I barked

"I swear it was a mistake brother", he said shakily.

Was Romeo crying now?. This is serious.

"I'm losing my patience with you! Fucking spit it out!" I screamed

"I didn't mean to" he said slowly raising his face from his palms.

I tried being gentler this time.

"It's okay brother, tell me what happened".

I'm sure it's murder, I was already making preparations in my head. Romeo had always had a temper. He was hot headed and cruel sometimes. Don't worry, I was the devil.

"Freya and I haven't really been good lately before I found out about her and the bakery kid"

"There's that bitch again" I thought

"After you created a scene in my office yesterday and disrupted the flow of my operations, I would've thought you would be over that sick excuse of a woman". I was hoping it wasn't Freya he killed, that would mean war. And I don't think we stood a chance.

"I was, Rome, but I was angry, very angry and I went drinking"he said twiddling his fingers as he stood up and walked over to the windows

"I drank till I couldn't even even see clearly, I was drunk out of my mind"

"Did you take drugs Romeo?"

"No," he replied sharply. He was lying. I knew my twin brother.

"THEN WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO ROMEO, I'M LOSING MY GOD DAMN PATIENCE " I yelled at him.

"I raped a girl and beat her up" he said shamefully in a small voice. What the actual hell.

"What did you say to me Romeo?" I asked, still trying to process this. Murder would have definitely been easier to deal with.

"I confronted Freya, she was not remorseful instead she was snarky and smug about everything. I wanted to punch something, to unleash my anger and I knew I couldn't do it to Montgomery's favorite girl, we can't afford that negative publicity. I went to- went to umm cool off at the park and that's where I saw her" he concluded looking up at me from his sitting position.

He was doing drugs at the park, high as a kite, and that's when she saw him. That's the true story, not to cool off.

"And you just pounced on an innocent girl?

"What has really come over you Romeo" I said angrily.

"Have you got problems in the head?!" I roared at him.

"I mistook her for Freya, it was a mistake!" He said.

"Get out of my sight Romeo" I barked.

He got up to leave

"I'm sorry, would you ever forgive me" he said softly, standing at the door

"Would you ever forgive yourself?" I asked him.

He looked lost in thoughts for a while and then, slowly walked out the door.

"Dean" I said into the line

He was the best man for this job.

"Yoo, what's up? '' he yelled loudly over the phone. He was at the club.

"Dean I need you here ASAP" I said sternly

"On my way" he replied seriously.

I got up and walked over to the window. I looked over the bustling city and the quietness inside my office.

I wasn't dumb to think, this would end.

Far from that, something was coming.

I just knew it. Romeo messed up big time.

I took one more look at the city before me,before going back to my seat. I was in deep thought.

A girl was assaulted and beaten up by my brother, if she saw his face or remotely recognised him, then she'd be here soon or she would go to the press and that was really bad considering she'd have evidence.

Whichever way, I knew something was gonna happen, I just didn't know when or how.

But one thing was certain, this was the calm before the fucking shit storm.
