Chapter 9 They're all looking

CHAPTER NINE

ROMEO'S POV

I'd been attracted to Freya the moment I laid eyes on her.

When she attended our mother's party. The same place she and Rome were told they'd be getting married. I didn't really care. It was an attraction, I could bed different girls to get her off of my mind. It worked all the time.

She was pretty, fair skin, blond hair, and a stunning physique. She was wearing a red bodycon dress which fit her body like a glove. Seems like a notice me dress, if I were to say. But who cares, that's Rome's problem not mine.

FLASHBACK

The party was in full swing, there were people at every corner of the house.

Of course, the entire elite society would be here, it's not everyday that the glamorous Rowena Elaine Davis turns 60. At 60 she still outshone every single lady in the room. I was so proud to be her son. It felt fucking good.

"Romeo my darling boy, it's so good to see you" she pulled me into a sweet hug. Her hugs were the best.

"Hello mother, I missed you too". I replied, hugging her back.

"You look so beautiful mother, at 60, you still look like you haven't aged a day over 30. Still as stunning as ever". I kissed her hands while she blushed.

"Stop it Romeo, always the charmer. It's my fault for naming you Romeo. What was I thinking?". She couldn't help her blush. I had that effect on women.

"Yes it is mother. It is your fault I suppose".

"Rowena!" Her friend screamed, smiling and waving at her from across the room.

"Excuse me my dear charmer, I have guests to attend to".

"The pleasure's all mine, milady". I said, flashing her a smile.

"What a naughty boy". She huffed out while leaving.

I saw Rome walk in sporting a beard. I waved him over and I could swear I read his lips and he cursed. I love to rile him up.

"What now Romeo?". Straight to the point, typical Rome.

"Hello to you too brother"

"How are you doing? I missed you my twin. I continued annoying him.

He just rolled his eyes at me and continued downing the contents of his cup.

"By the way, why are you sporting a beard, brother?" I asked dramatically.

"None of your business Romeo. Maybe trying out a new look.". He replied sarcastically.

"Doesn't suit you, that's more my style". I was kidding. He looked good. Hotter actually.

"Look, it's bad enough that you tagged along with me into the world, bearing my exact face and identity, now you also plan to ruin my life?". He was pissed. Goal achieved!.

"Chill out brother, you know I love you too much". I said cutely like someone attempting to make a baby laugh. And I tried to pinch his cheeks but key word "tried to" he swatted my hands away. Funny. He looked like he'd explode any second from now.

"MY TWINS!". Someone shrieked. Oh no. Oh boy. I'd recognise that voice even in my sleep.

I watched Rome face-palm. Possibly regretting his life choices, especially why he attended this party to begin with.

It was the one and one Davina Bloom Davis. Our sister and the loudest Davis siblings. You'd need a lot of energy to be around her.

"I missed you both". She whined as she hugged us both.

"You never come to visit me". She seemed really sad.

"Do you guys like me anymore?". She looked like she'd cry any moment from now. I had to step in.

"Of course I love you to bits, beautiful Bloom. I was planning to come spend some time with you in LA, just got so busy with the bar opening that's all".

"Really". Her eyes sparkled. Davina was a real beauty. The spitting image of our mother. If you knew the younger Rowena, you'd think Davina was her reincarnation. She is so beautiful.

"Really, my lovely davina". I flashed her a smile.

"And you Rome, you don't have anything to say to me?". She placed her hands on her hips, imitating our mother's stern look.

"Hello Davina, pleasure to see you again. Do enjoy the party and that's a lovely dress you have on". He said finishing it off with a gulp of his wine.

"Rome, you asshole!. I knew you'd never change. That's why no woman wants to marry you, you're so mean and cold". She was fuming but I was enjoying their cute exchange.

It reminded me of the good old days, when we all lived together. Davina would always piss Rome off just to get a reaction out of him. Till Davina graduated college, fell in love with the curly haired boy and moved to LA with him. And Rome decided he wanted to live alone as well.

"Really?, no woman? But that's not what I've heard?, they actually fall in line just to get this cold and mean man's attention. Look around Davina, they're all looking". Damn, Rome really was an asshole through and through. But yes, they were all looking at us. Even mother and father stood there watching us proudly. I loved my family and I didn't want anything to come between us. Ever.

"Why you annoying mean-----" Davina was cut off by a voice.

"Rome?"

We all turned to see the owner of the voice. She was beautiful, very beautiful. I seemed to be the only one taken by her because Rome diverted his attention back to his drink. Davina gave the most dramatic eye roll ever. She didn't seem that bad to me. If only I knew how wrong I was.

"What do you want, Freya?". He was being extra cold and mean to her. She flinched a bit but stood her ground.

"Happy birthday to your mother". She had a present with her. How thoughtful.

"You're not blind Freya, that's the fucking celebrant across the room not me". Uh oh. They must have a history, I thought. A very nasty one.

Rome might be unfeeling and cold but we all knew he treasured his family. He loved us, just that he had a weird way of showing it. But this girl, you could feel he hated her. He didn't hate women, far from it. He loved them, he had a voracious appetite for them, he just didn't let them control him. Besides, we all knew of his attraction to his married business partner, Vivianna Lee Dawn. He fucking adored her. Too bad she was happily married. Lucky man, by the way.

"Did I offend you Rome?" She looked like she would cry, any moment from now.

"How hypocritical of you, to stand before me and utter such nonsense!". He was mad. He was very mad. He got up from his seat.

"Tell me Freya, why would you even attend this event?Why would you come close to my mother, you don't deserve to breathe the same air she breathes. You don't deserve to stand in the same room with a woman like her or even be in close proximity with my family. You know I fucking detest you, you disgust me, and DON'T YOU DARE STAIN MY FAMILY'S FLOOR WITH YOUR FILTHY TEARS, DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?". he thundered. At this point, all eyes were on us. And she was crying now, I'm sure we looked like bullies.

"Rome, calm the fuck down buddy". I touched his arm. People were watching.

I noticed mother and father walk in, in new clothes. And there was a man with them who Freya ran to immediately he walked in. They must have left at some point to get changed.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats, the party is about to kick off with a very important announcement". The MC said into the microphone and that piqued my interest. What was it?.
