Chapter 4 Feed him Dog pop

Chapter

Toggong village* 1 year later*

"Did I really have to go there as a commoner? You're restricting me from using my powers and taking any slaves along? Do you really want me to suffer until I stop breathing? How the hell am I supposed to survive that damn life you want me to live?" Carol yelled at the top of her voice.

Her mission was to penetrate inside the LICIFER chamber and steal the Book of Huel, the secret book that contains different types of power.

They restricted her from taking any accessories. How will she cope?

"Stop yelling and get out of my sight! I've already told you everything you needed. You're restricted from using your power so you can move freely. stop shouting! You have only six months to complete the mission. Don't waste a minute of the time. You're not getting any extra time," Maxwell instructed.

Maxwell was a powerful man who ruled the village of Toggong after the death of their past king. He was a vicious man whom everyone feared in the village, including the Minister. They dared not argue with him or exchange meaningless words.

His regime was peaceful until the arrival of Chan, his junior brother. He was also after the throne and ready to go through thick and thin to snatch the position from Maxwell.

To ensure peace in Toggong village, the minister came up with a plan. He sent Chan and Maxwell on a secret mission to steal the Book of Huel, which Lucifer had stolen during the war. This book was no joke, packed with powerful secrets! And get this, the person who retrieves the book gets to rule the village of Toggong. Maxwell knew deep down that Carol was the one for the job. He had seen her in action before and knew her determination was unstoppable. Sure, she may seem playful, but once she sets her mind on something, nothing can stand in her way!

"Okay, I hear you, but can you at least let Anne come with me? You know she can't be without me, and I can't be without her. She's my favorite," Carol pleaded with a low voice.

"I've already told you, Carol, you're not allowed to go with anyone. Are you deaf? Now, get out of my sight," Maxwell said with authority.

"Okay, what if I refuse to go? Will you kill me?" Carol said, walking closer to Maxwell as if she wanted to harm him.

"If you're not interested in knowing about your family, then refuse," Maxwell said devilishly. He knew that the only thing that could calm Carol was the knowledge of her parents.

Ever since he started raising Carol, he knew she was a strong-willed girl who never gave up easily. Once she set her mind on something, nothing could deter her. That's why he insisted she had to be the one to find the book.

Carol composed herself, giving a dry smile. The only thing that could make her do something against her will was the thought of her family. "Okay, Maxwell, I'll be on my way now, and I'll be back within six months," she said, staring into space with a wicked look. "Huel Book... Lucifer... I'm coming for both of you," she whispered. Then, she turned to Maxwell and said, "I'm sorry, but I'll have to use my power for the last time. Someone is waiting for me." And just like that, she disappeared right before Maxwell's eyes.

"That witch!" Maxwell shouted.

Carol teleported inside the marketplace and stared at each of the marketers, searching for a particular person. The market was bustling with activity, with some people selling and others buying.

"I will definitely miss this place," she murmured happily, gazing at a specific donut. She inhaled the scent of the donut and swallowed hard.

"Are you eating the scent?" someone said from behind her.

Carol turned around, and a smile spread across her face. "Anne!" she exclaimed, and the girl named Anne ran to her, embracing her tightly.

"No one can separate us, absolutely no one," Anne said, handing Carol a cloth handbag containing Carol's clothes.

"Yes, no one is capable of separating us," Carol nodded, taking the bag and hanging it on her shoulder.

"Where are we heading to now?" Anne asked eagerly.

"We're heading to Fujiang Village," Carol replied, walking closer to Anne. She shrugged her shoulders and used her head to point at the fresh donut in front of them. "Before we start going, can we at least enjoy ourselves?" Carol suggested, and Anne smiled.

"Of course we can... I have..."

"Anne... Where are you? You better bring back my money now!" a voice interrupted Anne, cutting her off.

"That must be Lord Lushar," Anne said, swallowing nervously. She faced Carol and held her shoulders. "Carol, do you remember the race we took when we stole Dorothy's money two months ago?" she asked, and Carol gazed at the sky as if recalling something.

"Yes, I remember. We ran like dogs, moving like snakes, faster and faster. But..." Carol paused and faced Anne again. "But in the end, we got caught," Carol admitted.

"That's right, you remember. Now we're going to start another race. This time, we're going to run like snakes and move like dogs because I stole Lord Lushar's money. If we get caught, we'll have to starve for the rest of our lives," Anne explained urgently."Carol... Should we run now or risk starving for the rest of our lives?" Anne asked quickly, wide-eyed and confused.

Carol stared at the donut again and turned to face Anne. "If I run now, can I eat multiple of these when we get to Fujiang Village?" she asked with a mischievous grin. Anne nodded in agreement. "Then we don't have to run. Let's just use my power. Maxwell can't touch me," Carol declared confidently. She grabbed Anne's hand and led her to a secluded corner. Closing her eyes, Carol murmured some words, and in an instant, they disappeared and reappeared in a different location.

"Wow, you're getting better every day! But where are we now?" Anne asked curiously as they took in their new surroundings.

"What did you say? I'm the best of the best!" Carol boasted, feeling her own energy.

"But seriously, where are we?" Anne asked again, concerned that they might have ended up in a place that would make their journey longer.

"Let's walk ahead and ask someone, because I have no idea," Carol suggested, and the two of them started walking.

After about five minutes, they spotted a restaurant. Even before entering, the aroma of the food wafted through the air, making their mouths water.

Carol inhaled deeply, savoring the scent as if she could taste the food with her nose.

"Stop inhaling the smell and let's go eat!" Anne exclaimed, pulling out her purse and shaking it, making the sound of coins jingle.

"I don't know what I would do without you," Carol said gratefully as they found their way inside the restaurant.

They took a seat next to two boys in the right corner.

A server approached them to take their order.

After a short while, the server brought their order: rice and boiled chicken.

Carol and Anne stared at the food, their mouths watering, and dug their hands into the plates, eating as if they had been starving for years.

"But how did you manage to steal Lord Lushar's money?" Carol asked, her mouth full of rice.

"What did you expect?" Anne replied with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Yes, I mixed his food with dog poop and his water with urine," Anne said, covering her mouth with her palm. "Oh my Gawd, I can't stop remembering his puzzled face when he tasted the food... cheeeese!" Anne shouted.

"Can't you guys eat without running your mouth?" said one of the boys sitting close to their seat. "I mean, why would you talk about poop when eating?" he added with a disgusted look.

Carol looked around and directed her gaze back to Anne. They both shared a meaningful glance before bursting into laughter. "I can't believe my ears," Carol said, and Anne nodded her head before sipping water from the wooden cup in front of her.

Anne might not have seen the face of the person who made the comment since her back was facing them, but the way he said it sounded so funny.

"Hey, Mr. Man! We're having a conversation here, so focus on your own food and quit interfering," Carol yelled, placing her hands on her hips.

The second guy seemed ready to retaliate, but the first guy held him back. "Did you mean I'm interfering?" the first guy asked, and Carol couldn't help but smile.

"Yeah, you're definitely interfering. What, you wanna fight me with a face that looks like dog poop?" Carol retorted, and Anne couldn't help but smile too.

"His face looks just like the poop I served Lord Lushar this morning," Anne added, joining in on the banter.

"But Anne, you can't see his face," Carol said, giving Anne a knowing look.

"I may not see his face, but his voice says it all... sulking," Anne replied.

One of the restaurant's servants whispered to Anne and Carol, "Careful what you say, that's the crown prince of Fujiang village."

Carol smirked, folding her arms across her chest. "If he's the crown prince, then I'm the crazy betrothed crown princess who will make his life miserable," she declared loudly, ensuring that the guy she referred to as the crown prince heard her before she stood up.

She walked closer to the guy's table and casually put one of her legs on an empty chair. "Are you really the crown prince?" she asked, causing the guy they referred to as the crown prince to inhale loudly.
