"Hi Riana" I said soothingly, "How are you? Are you getting better?" He asked but there was something soft in his voice that made me startle.
I don't know if it's just because I also feel dread, I don't know the reason but it makes me worry.
"Ah, yes, my sister has treated me and is taking care of me here at home" I said reassuringly.
"Are you coming back?" I was silent and frowned because of her question, "Of course, your question is strange huh" I said laughing, just to lighten up the mood because she sounds gloomy.
"I'm sorry, when can you come back?" He asked so I thought, I was thinking tomorrow but I'll observe myself because I'm still hot.
"Tuesday now so maybe Thursday I'll be back so I can observe myself more" I replied that he kept quiet on the other line, "Just come back on Friday, because that's the day the young master will come home" I frowned again because in the tone of his speech.
"Louis.." I was wondering about Riana because she seemed to want to say something that she couldn't say, I looked at Khalix who had been quiet and just listening. Because I'm on loudspeaker that's why he can hear it and he's bothered too
"What time on Friday?" I asked and he kept quiet again as if he was always thinking about what he would answer, "10 or 11 in the afternoon, whatever time it is but the young master will come at 4 or 5" He answered that I held my breath, I was doubting his voice.
"Riana, if you want to tell me something, say it, I can tell from your voice" I said, silencing her again.
"Don't come back" I almost froze in my seat because of what he said while Khalix was slightly surprised and seemed intrigued by our conversation.
"What are you talking about? Why don't I come back, I'm about to get a salary" I answered.
"Do you know the young master?" He asked, "No" I answered quickly.
"I want to tell you something, can you be alone?" He asked so I looked at Khalix, "No, I'm with you my friend" I answered which silenced him again.
"Is that so, uhm Louis I have a question if you don't mind... I saw your tattoo with the letter 'L' I just want to know if that is someone's initial or your own initial?" He asked which I kept quiet, Khalix is here so I have to lie.
"Ah yes, this is my own initial" I lied, "Is that so? But why are you the same.." I frowned because he whispered something at the end that I didn't quite understand.
"What is Riana? Hello?" I ended the call because the sound suddenly became static, I stared at the cellphone for a moment before taking a deep breath.
"Your co-worker?" Khalix asked and I nodded and stared at him, suddenly my eyes widened as I remembered something.
"Why? That's why you're scaring me, don't you suddenly grow your eyes wide open" He frowned and complained but I ignored it and tried to call Riana's number but before it rang it was disconnected, I called three times and almost all of them were like that .
If you put everything together, the release of the criminal on TV and the return of the 'young master' they say are almost the same.
"Khalix is the criminal you are talking about, when will he really be free? As in his release from the city jail?" I asked so he thought, I hope he knows.
"When I heard them talking, dad said that he will be released on Thursday, but that he will have to sign papers and that he still needs to go through some papers and that he still needs to get medical records, mommy said that he will be interviewed after he is released" Answer so it made me think, if he has a lot to do in his free time, for sure he will be home.. it's Friday.
"Khalix, what's the date on Friday?" I asked without looking at my cellphone, "12? Ah no, it's 13 on Friday" He said which I swallowed.
Everything I think and the parts Riana said match, if she asked about my tattoo she probably saw a tattoo similar to mine. The tattoo I have in common is that criminal.
I don't know if all of this is just a coincidence and I'm just overthinking or overreacting, but good grief this is making me dizzy.
Friday the 13th... I don't believe in that but they say that day is unlucky and something bad will happen and I'm nervous just thinking about it, I need to get better tomorrow and my fever won't come back.
I'll be back on Thursday, and talk to Riana.
"Are you sure Louis? You're really going back to work?" My sister asked and I nodded and smiled, I was feeling fine so I decided to leave.
I don't have to bring anything, just extra clothes because my other things are still there.
"Mom, I'm leaving, maybe daddy will find me, please just tell me that I've left" I said, mom smiled and hugged me, my sister did the same and said she would take me outside.
Although I experienced scary things since I entered that mansion I feel that I have to go back, I don't know why but I just follow what I want.
"I'm just here sister, be careful" I said while smiling but my sister just stared at me, she looks like she wants to say something.
"Louis, are you sure you're with them there? Besides Riana, who else is with you?" He asked, "There are so many of us, I can't even count." I answered that he sighed, actually I noticed something about the people there because every time the night came, they suddenly disappeared.
You will wonder where that many people went because they suddenly disappear, then suddenly gather in the morning. I know the house is big so they have a lot of seats but I still can't be bothered by the way they all act.
Their faces have no expression and it seems like they are carrying something heavy in their lives, they don't want anyone to ask questions and they only speak once when it's important and then their voices are still blank but above all they act like robots.
"Be careful, don't forget what you were instructed to understand? Don't take off your necklace" was a serious warning from my sister to which I nodded and just in time a tricycle passed by so I got on it.
"Bye sister" I said goodbye as he nodded before the tricycle sped away.
It took more than a few minutes before we reached the corner so I walked further before finally reaching the mansion, my forehead was wrinkled because another guard was here and I felt like the house was alive.
"Are you Louis? The new maid who came in?" I was still a little surprised and surprised because the guard spoke to me, I nodded even though I was surprised.
When we entered, he also knocked on the door before returning to the guard house, he was no longer holding a book but a cellphone.
When the door opened, it was a different woman and I had never seen her here before, I just wondered why there were other people here and there was also a gardener.
"Hello, are you the new member? I'll come and go in" He said to which I just nodded and went inside, the house was still the same but there were only a few maids.
"I'm Hencie, are you Louis? I'm the one you texted" He said with a smile so I almost stared at him, who is this?
"Uhm.. where is Riana?" I asked that his smile disappeared and was replaced by surprise and nervousness, "What are you talking about? Don't be scared" he said as if he was scared as my forehead wrinkled.
"I've been here for a week, they're the ones with me and then there are many maids" I answered that his eyes widened and he suddenly retreated a little, there was a trace of fear on his face that I didn't understand why.
"How did that happen? There hasn't been anyone here for a long time since young master left, we're all coming back now because he's coming again" He said raising my hair, " I choked and cut my own words.
"And what you are saying Riana.." He told me that I followed him and he took me there to the gate and when he opened it my eyes widened because it was a grave.
I wasn't able to ask any more questions because he pulled me towards a grave while I was looking around, we stopped so I looked at Hencie and he signaled me to look below me.
My eyes widened and fell on the wolf while retreating when I saw the tomb whose name was Riana, my eyes started to water and my heart beat very fast.
"The Riana you're talking about has been dead for a long time" he said softly which made me gasp even more and suddenly it occurred to me to run away from this place, I quickly got up and ran away I still heard Hencie calling but I didn't try to turn around.
My vision blurred because of the tears that flowed incessantly and I didn't pay attention to the noises around me, until I didn't realize that there was someone in front of me that caused me to bump into his hard chest that I sat on the ground.
I wiped the tears from my eyes and looked up, I felt like the world stopped and I seemed to catch my breath when I saw the person who was staring at me now earnestly.
I still haven't forgotten those eyes 6 years ago that seem to have been imprinted on my mind and have been blurred.
"L-logan..."
"L-logan.." I whispered softly that I was almost the only one who heard, silence prevailed even the maids inside the house were silent. I was only focused on his eyes and I didn't know what I was feeling, just a mix of fear, nervousness, apprehension.
"Louis! young master, welcome back" Hencie said and bowed for a moment before helping me stand up, but his eyes just followed my movements.
"Is he new?" My blood seemed to stop flowing because of his question, doesn't he know me? I don't know why I felt disappointed but maybe it was better.
"O-opo" Hencie stammered and seemed scared, "P-please be patient with my friend, he's new because he's s-I hope you don't-" I saw the look on his face and cut him off he will say what Hencie will say.
"Shut up and prepare my bathtub" He said immediately followed Hencie and left, I also noticed that the other maid was already moving inside, "And you.. bring me food" He coldly said to me so he let me pass I looked at him until he left, why doesn't he seem to know me?
"Louis!! Come on and get moving!!" Hencie said in a whisper but loudly, so I immediately went inside and lost my mind about running away from this house because he didn't know me.
I went to the kitchen and helped them cook while Hencie was preparing the bathtub.
My hunch was right, especially the criminal and the young master, but I still can't get Riana out of my mind and to this day I still get scared every time I think that I'm not with her.
My whole body was shaking and thinking about everything they said, that's why the tricycle driver told me to go alone because I didn't really have anyone with me.
Hencie soon came down with a candle that I lit, he walked out but immediately returned to the kitchen.
"I'll tell you when you deliver the food" He said making me nervous, "Can you be the one?" I asked nervously, even if he didn't remember me, I was still nervous to see him.
"What do you want to scold us both? Whoever he ordered should follow him, besides, that's a good thing, you'll get used to his behavior.. because he's hard to get along with" He said and whispered the last word.
"Ah, his room is the one with the initial letter L on the door, because that's Sir Logan's name" He said which surprised me a little but I didn't realize it, if I'm not mistaken that's the door where someone knocked very loudly before .
My nervousness only increased when I remembered that again, and now I'm going to enter that room where I feel something.
DING DING
Together we turned to the large clock that sounded scary.
"Louis, it's time. Just knock three times and you can enter" He said seriously that I swallowed because it was different from me so I just ignored it and tried to move properly.
I walked up to the room and while walking I felt very scared because the silence and the paintings were so eerie.
When I got to the opposite side of the room, I knocked three times before going inside just like Hencie said, entering inside suddenly raised my hair all over my body.
Feeling very heavy and very cold around, I put the food on the small table next to the bed and looked out the window which was open so maybe the air was very cold.
When I peeked, my eyes widened when I saw the huge maze that I saw behind the house, I swallowed because the size of the maze was amazing from here but at the end there was a house and even a light. It's a small house and it seems a bit old-fashioned.
What could be there?
"Louis.." I immediately turned to the person who called me and I was stunned by his muscular body with water dripping from his hair and the tattoos on his arm, but I noticed more the tattoo on his ribs that was horizontal .
It says 'Louis' my name..
"Isn't it beautiful? I'm not satisfied with just the initial, I want your full first name" He said that made me swallow hard, I was about to say something but I stopped and regained my composure and I finally had the courage to talk.
"S-so y-you.. know me?" I asked nervously and full of fear, I couldn't move when he smirked at me and leaned on the doorframe of the bathroom with his arms crossed before he spoke with a deep and seductive voice.
"How can I forget the one I love the most?"
