Chapter 4 4

Miggy's POV

"What happened?" When I returned to our table, Mommy grabbed my arm, looking worried again. "It's just an unforeseen incident, Mom. It's okay," I reassured her, holding her hand.

"Great job, son," Dad smiled at me.

"You look so handsome. I could fall over and over again for you," Suzeth's voice caught my attention. She sat beside me and kissed my right cheek.

"Well, I just blushed," I said to her.

"You're doing great, son. I am so proud of you," Mommy beamed.

Well, that was epic. My first speech was crushed by three little pigs. Whose kids are those? It must have been hard, raising three kids at the same age. Just thinking about it, I'm left speechless.

"Hey," Suzeth tapped me.

"Yup?" I turned to her.

"I was planning, why don't we have our wedding in Ilocos? I have a friend there, and the resort is beautiful. Instead of going to Cebu?"

"Whatever you want. Ilocos is fine with me too. It's a great place. And please, don't forget to choose your gown soon. I have asked Doni for the new arrivals, fresh from France." I winked at her. She covered her face with her hands. "Oh my God!" she squealed softly.

"I'm gonna check it out tomorrow. Oh my God, I can't wait."

I promised Suzeth the wedding she's been dreaming of. I want our marriage to be unforgettable.

"You will always be beautiful in whatever you wear." I stared at her, cupping her cheeks and pulling her in for a kiss.

When I glanced at the entrance, I saw Mr. De Vera talking to the front desk employee.

"Wait, honey." I stood up and was about to step towards the entrance when I suddenly felt dizzy.

"Miggy?" Mommy called my name, and I could not hear anything aside from the ringing in my ears. Everything started to blur. I held my head as I felt intense pain, as if experiencing it for the first time.

"Miggy!" Suzeth approached me. When I opened my eyes, everything suddenly brightened. I slowly heard my surroundings.

"Yes, I'm fine," I breathed out. "Are you sure?" Mom asked with concern.

"I feel great." I smiled.

I walked towards the entrance. Luckily, I was starting to feel good now.

"Sir." I looked at Ms.? I forgot her name.

"Ms.?"

"Ms. Aragon, sir," she quickly said. She was the one at the front desk.

"Miguel! It's so nice to see you!" I shook hands with Mr. De Vera. "Good thing you made it. You missed my speech."

"It will be over the internet. I will watch it," he laughed.

"Please enjoy yourselves," I told them.

I was about to follow them when Ms. Aragon suddenly called me.

"I would like to apologize to you," she approached me, looking down.

"I brought my kids here because there's no one to watch over them. I told them not to get out of their baby chairs."

I didn't expect that she was the mother of those three kids. "You're the kids..." I looked at the three children talking in their baby chairs, shifting my gaze between her and the kids.

"Yes. They're my kids." She glanced up at me. I caught her eyes. Those eyes were full of innocence and something I couldn't quite tell. She was too young to be a mother of three kids.

"No. It's fine. At least, they gave entertainment to the audience. Kids are kids. We should understand them. And your kids, they are still babies. It must have been hard taking care of three little kids." We looked at the kids, who were now laughing. It was amusing to watch as they seemed to run out of breath from laughing so much.

"It is. But they are so beautiful." I looked at her, watching her with a smile as she admired her children. It was as if her babies were the best creatures she could see. How lovely.

"You know what, just... just take off. I will assign somebody here. You go and take care of your babies." She quickly turned to me. "Sir, it's okay."

"I feel more at ease knowing you'll take care of them. They might get out of their baby chairs again."

*************

Kyla's POV

"Tada!" I happily approached my kids. "Ma!" They giggled upon seeing me.

"Ma, are we going to eat now?" Sean asked excitedly. "Yes, Mama's work is done!"

"Yey!" They all exclaimed together.

I loaded four plates. It's unbelievable how similar the portion sizes are. My kids can devour a whole plate like adults. Their appetite is immense. They can finish a kilo of meat each. That's why I really need to work hard.

I didn't even notice that I ended up feeding them from my plate too.

"I am the tyrant... Tyranosaurus!" Kino sang while eating. Sean was humming, and Darc was dancing. They eat loudly, used to listening to songs while eating. When they were babies, I didn't know how to take care of them. Whenever they cried, I always played songs for them. It seems they got used to it as they grew up.

"Oh, Uncle Dinosaur!" We all looked where Sean was pointing. I quickly lowered Sean's hand when I saw that he was pointing at Sir. "He's not a dinosaur," I told them.

"He's tall, Ma. That's why he's a dino," Darc said.

I glanced at Sir, who was with Ms. Suzeth and talking to businessmen. I don't know why our conversation earlier suddenly replayed in my mind.

I took my gaze away from him, trying to focus on what we discussed. What is there to remember?

Nothing.

His voice.

It's familiar.

What the hell! Why am I feeling so creepy? Why is my heart suddenly beating faster?

I shook my head. "Probably nothing," I whispered to myself.

The party ended late, so the kids are already asleep. It was challenging for me to put them in their train because they are quite heavy. I had to pull them out.

Suddenly, I noticed someone following me.

"Sir?" I was surprised to see him holding Sean's dinosaur toy.

"It fell. I couldn't leave it." He said, placing the toy on Sean's chest and resting his hand on the toy.

I didn't expect him to do that. He stood up again, putting his hands in his pockets.

"They are like angels when they sleep," he smiled, a smile I had never seen before.

"They won't wake up if you keep pulling them in this train?" He asked quickly.

Why does he sound so concerned?

"I can't carry all of them," I replied.

"How can you take care of them alone?" His words caught me off guard. How did he know I'm a single mother?

"Jaila told me. She apologized because what happened was unintentional, and I truly understand. She also told me you were not supposed to be hired since you're a single parent, and it's against the company policy." I lowered my head at his words.

"I shouldn't have been accepted in the first place. I even lied about having a live-in partner. But Ma'am Jaila told me she'll let it slide. Maybe she understands the difficulty of raising three kids without a job."

"I don't mind about it, and I truly understand. But you should have told me sooner. You could have just stayed home. These kids can't last this kind of party that long. They stayed up late."

"I hate to say this, but I really felt bad. I don't exactly know why," he gasped, looking at my kids. "But all I can promise you is, you can keep your job."

"That means a lot, sir. Thank you for understanding."

"I got a Limo that is coming. You take that," he said before finally leaving.

Tears welled up as I looked at my kids. I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed Mits' number.

"Hello?" she answered promptly.

I covered my mouth, wiped my face, unsure of what to do.

"Mits..." My voice trembled.

"Oh, what is it? Have you arrived home?"

"Mits, would you believe me if I told you I found the father of my kids?"
