Chapter 9 Underground

The door opened and a man came in, I recognized him to be the one in the carriage with the Courtesan.

Great! He should clear my name...

The eunuch nervously stood in front of the king, his head bowed.

"Was she the one who killed the courtesan?" The king asked, referring to me.

"yes... your majesty" the eunuch said and I gasped.

"What! Your majesty, he is lying, I have nothing to do with it, she was already dead before I got there..." I said, without realising.

Shit! I shouldn't have said the last part.

The king kept quiet for some moment, I hope for the impossible, that he believes me.

"That is the problem, what were you doing there in the first place, who sent you?" He asked, his gaze darkening by every passing moment.

"I...I was... I wa.." I stuttered

"Do you know what happens when you touch a Courtesan, let alone kill them?" he asked dangerously, he looks so scary right now, he was handsome just a moment ago but now he looks like a monster about to devour his prey.

"uhm, no..." I said, lowering my head

"I really have nothing to do with it, your..."

"Quiet!" He shouted, cutting me off.

"Silas" the king called the royal guard, who brought me in.

"Yes, your majesty" Silas answered, bowing.

"whip her" he said and started walked back to his throne.

Silas and some guards snapped me back to reality, when they started dragging me out.

"noooo, my king, please believe me, I am innocent, please" I cried, I looked at the enuch with so much hatred

"how dare you?, I am going to kill you!" I threatened.

I don't know how many hours had passed but I was still being whipped by strong laced scourge by four guards respectively ,it stung all part of my body and I was bleeding. I have never been beaten like this before in my entire life, I have cried blood, tears and sweat.

"Please.. pleas.." I tried saying.

"Please, just.. stop" I managed to say

A lashed came in that moment and I cried in real agony, this guards don't have any empathy at all.

"Stop!" I heard a voice, I slowly raised my head to see the king with a satisfied smile.

I cannot believe, he is smiling in my agony...

"I am sure, you enjoyed your punishment" the king said to me.

"I know you are innocent" he said

I looked at him and gasped, I'm happy he now knows the truth, he really believed me!

"You should be glad i spared your life, someone has never killed a Courtesan before, you are the first, you are supposed to be stoned to death but I have a much better death, you are going to be living hell on Earth and wished you were dead"

"Take her to the animal underground" I heard him say before I drift to sleep, what?! I thought he just said, he believed me?

I woke up from my short fainting when I found out, I was being dragged on the floor with my dress, seriously? I am being treated like an slave...

I don't know how many passages we have passed but we kept moving, I saw the guard open a lot of doors that linked together.

Wherever, they were taking me to, I know, I will not be able to escape because they is no way, I can know my way back, I didn't know the castle was this big, I could have come here too on one of my numerous destruction.

Animal underground? Are there wild animals?

After passing so many difficult directions, we stopped in front of a dark gate and Silas opened it, the rest guards suddenly stopped, Silas dragged me inside and surprisingly, there was a stair, he locked the door securely and continued dragging me down the stairs

"Please, where are you taking me to?" I asked sadly

He ignored me, after we finished climbing down the stairs, Silas dropped me recklessly.

He walked to a flower vase near a door and dipped his hands into it, he brought out a key, walked to the door beside it and opened it.

He walked back to me, stood me up, dragged me to the door and pushed me, I felled into the passage that the door led to and I found him covering the door immediately.

"What!?, Wait, wait, please wait" I shouted but it fell on deaf ears, the doors were closed like it never opened.

I heard a growl and sighed nervously, what do I expect?!
