Chapter 5 End of a loved

I tiptoed to the direction and stood directly above her, Swift did same too, cursing under his breath about how I always want to put him in trouble and I giggled.

I bend down to her level, to watch her sleep peacefully.

Suddenly, i notice her irregular breathing.

"Hold on Swift, she is not breathing" i said facing him nervously

"what?!" He said shocked

He quickly shoved me aside and placed his head on her chest

"oh, no" he muttered

"What?" I asked impatiently

"You know what, do not do anything, I will go and call the physician" he said as he dashed for the door

Meanwhile, I was shivering from all the thoughts going through my head

"Could my mother, really be dead?"

I have not done anything with her yet, I have not tried to be a good daughter to her, neither have i fulfilled my promise of getting us out of here.

I shook my head from all the thoughts and started shaking her from side to side, my knees were on the ground as i buried my face on her bed crying

"Mother wake up!"

"Mother, mother, mother please wake up"

"Carissa" i heard a voice call my name and I quickly raised my head to see her looking very weak. Her eyes was so dull.

"Mother!" I called happily, hugging her

"Thank you for waking up, you scared me" I said and released from the hug, looking at her, she had a small smile.

"You finally came home, I finally get to see you" she said still weak

"Yes mother, yes" I said nestling close to her

She rubbed my hair

"Carissa" she called

"Mother, you do not need to stress yourself, Swift is getting the physician, just relaxed" I said reassuringly

"Carissa my beautiful daughter, I am happy to see you today but before it happens, I want you to know something" she said

"Mother, can't it wait? You are weak" I said but she shook her head negatively

"It must be today" she said

"Okay, what is it?" I asked

"Your father... the king... your king..." my mother was trying to say but was coughing in between.

"Mother are you okay? Wait, breath okay, just calm down" I said

She calmed down and blanked staring at me, her hazel eyes was suddenly transfixed on mine. I raised her hands and it fell normally.

Is it happening again?

"Mother, mother..." I shook and cried but there was no answer.

The door opened, the Physician and Swift came into the room.

The physician quickly took out his equipment and faced my mother, doing numerous tests.

Swift was asking me if I was alright because I have just been crying.

"Sire, will she be alright?" Swift broke the silence.

"give me a minute" he answered and continued

"please save her, save my mother" I kept saying, crying and shivering at the same time.

The physician turned to look at us

"I am sorry Carissa but she is gone" he broke the obvious to me.

I know she was but I didn't want to accept it...
