Chapter 6 Place a bet on it...

It's been a fortnight and I still couldn't process the fact that my mother had died and she is not going to come back, I couldn't believe she was buried.

The physician said she suffered a serious heart attack, I never knew she was sick. I could have paid more attention to her, it's all my fault.

Sitting down on a stool, I kept crying, Swift has tried his best to comfort me, everyone has including Acquilina's mother but they don't understand the pain that I'm going through.

I felt a hand on my shoulders, I knew it was Swift.

"You are crying again" he said

"No, it's nothing, I am fine" I said, while wiping my overflowing tears.

I do not remember, ever breaking down like this, I have always been strong.

"By the way" I said, remembering what my mother was trying to say.

"I think... I have a father" I muttered but he heard it.

"What?!" He asked shocked.

"Mother, has never spoken about him and I never asked, I thought he was dead but I think he is still alive" I said, he kept on looking at me, dumbfounded, he must be really shocked.

"Your father... the king... your king?" I repeated what she said, to Swift.

What was she trying, to tell me?

"Could it be, your father was the king before king Alaric?" He asked with widened eyes.

"Or... Could it be, the king is my father and king Alaric is my brother?" I asked him back.

"What!?" He shouted

"That would be outrageous, I cannot imagine king Alaric being my brother" I said

"What are you going to do?" He asked

"It must have been very important, for her to tell me, at that particular time" I said and sniffed.

"Maybe, i should go to the palace?" I said and looked at Swift.

"You know, you are not going to be allowed without any reason, I heard the castle has strict rules" he replied

"I have enough reason, my father is there, he could be anybody" I said

"It's not going to work out " he said, sighing.

I closed my eyes in deep thoughts, if king Alaric is my brother, I will be very angry but on the beautiful side, I am going to be very rich.

I will inherit a lot of money, and if he isn't, I am going to swindle him and run far away to other kingdoms, I have no one now.

Probably, I will run away with Swift and we can enjoy a happily ever after.

"Huh, you are smiling" Swift said surprised.

"When is the full moon, again?"

"It's tomorrow, why do ask?" He said

"We have a new target"

"Hold on, what are you suddenly talking about?" He asked

"We are going to kidnapped the new Courtesan, that is coming tomorrow" I said

"What! I have done a lot of crazy and abominable things but touching what's the king? He is going to kill us" swift said, shocked and in fear.

As expected of him...

"Let's not do it" he added

"That is my idea of getting his attention, we are going to kidnap his new Courtesan and use her as bait, to tell us what he knows, if he does not have an idea of what we are talking about, we are going to ask him to find my father" I said

"What an outrageous plan, do you really think, the king will care about a Courtesan who got kidnapped?" Swift asked, I shrugged and said

"Well, I am placing a bet on it"
