Chapter 3 To think he is my new boss...

Chapter 3 ~ Valerie's POV

As the following day arrived, the glow of the morning shone into my bedroom reflecting on my face and obstructing my sleep.

Despite my eyes still laced with tiredness from last night, I looked at my side and found Dante still lying.

And then I decided to return to sleep when my eye direction moved to the wall clock close to my bed and suddenly I remembered I was going to work.

Instantly, I stood up from my bed, leaving Dante still sleeping soundly on my bed as I rushed into the bathroom so as not to be late for work.

Five minutes later after entering the bathroom, as I got done with my bath, then suddenly I heard the sound of the door being closed and so this prompted me to come out of the bathroom in a hurry.

Coming out, I realized Dante was nowhere to be found. I searched the living room but he wasn't there, I was confused as to why he left without saying a word to me or even leaving a note for me to read, then I reminded myself, how unbothered I should be about it as it was just a one night stand and we were never seeing one another again.

With that, I manned up and ended the chapter in my mind as I wore my clothes and had my breakfast.

When I got done and ready to leave, I rushed my way out to the subway and headed to work.

Reaching my workplace, I settled into my given office. Suddenly, the company's secretary, Ruth entered my office.

I was in awe at her sudden barge into my office and so I said, "Ruth is everything okay with you,"

"Yes it is Miss Skye, I apologize for barging into your office but the boss ordered a meeting with the top employees in the conference room and you were not around when he gave the order so I thought of coming to tell you before the rest of your colleagues reach there," she said.

"Oh thank you, Ruth, I appreciate your kindness," I replied to her, showing my gratitude.

And so she left my office, A few minutes l stood up from my chair as I opened the door and made my way to the conference room.

Reaching there, I realized most of my colleagues, who were also top employees were gathered there and the only missing person was my boss, Mr blaze.

After thirty minutes of settling into our wait, suddenly we heard the sound of a door as everyone turned, realizing it was our boss.

And so he began his talks, as he made his way to have his seat, "I am so sorry for the delay, I was handling some paperwork, anyways, good morning everyone,"

"Good morning Mr blaze," we said in unison.

"Firstly I want to thank you all for all your support over the years, Blaze publishing is nothing without you all and especially you Valerie, your role as my senior editor has been impeccably outstanding," he continued.

"The reason for this meeting is because I wanted to let you all know about my retirement, I am retiring from my role as the CEO of this company as my health is becoming too weak to handle some things," Mr. Blaze said to us, making it clear to our understanding.

This left me stunned as I never expected him to make such a decision and it was evident everyone else in the room felt the same way.

Out of curiosity, I voiced out, "But sir, if you are retiring now, what will happen to Blaze Publishing,"

Mr blaze chuckled as my words left him with such a reaction, "Well nothing would happen to Blaze Publishing as my son has agreed to take over the company on my behalf that's why I can boldly tell you all about my retirement, I can't abandon blaze publishing, and if I'm not mistaken he should be here in any minute from now,"

"That's better sir," one of my colleagues chimed in, and so we all laughed about it and gave our heartfelt wishes to him.

Suddenly, the door was opened which caused Mr Blaze to look in that direction only to find out it was his son, and so he said in a raised tone. "Speaking of the devil, my son is here,"

And so I turned to the door to see his son only for me to realize his son was Dante, the same handsome-looking man I had a one-night stand with.

Immediately I was filled with uneasiness as I felt like entering Into the enclosed wall and vanishing into thin air but then I turned my look away from him unable to contain my embarrassment,

With that he walked towards his father, giving him a tight hug.

Then Mr blaze continued with his announcement, "Everyone, meet my son Dante, Dante Blaze, your new boss, I hope you all would treat him well and make life easy for him here," he said with so much pride laced softly underneath his voice.

Giving a slight smile, Dante said, "It's nice to finally meet each one of you and I hope with our hands united we can produce something beautiful and unique,"

With that, everyone in the room clapped for him after his speech, acknowledging the fact that he is now our boss.

But as for me, I just stood there looking as I lost every grip on my concentration.

I began searching through my thoughts looking for a solution to my sudden problem but I made sure not to let it cloud my facial expression.

After the introduction and the end of the meeting, Dante began giving a handshake to everyone in the room as he took a step into getting to know them individually.

As he reached where I was, he approached me intending to talk to me, I was still stunned by his presence but I intended to snub him but seeing his father walking towards us, I had to retreat my decision.

Reaching there, Mr blaze said, wearing a bright smile on his face, "I see you finally reached my best staff, she is my senior editor and I must say Valerie is the best thing that has ever happened to this company,"

"Thank you so my sir, I am flattered," I responded to him as I felt on top of the world with his comment.

"I have heard a lot about you from my dad and I must say I can't wait to work with you I hope you will enjoy working with me," Dante said to me, pretending he didn't know me, as his voice hinted a bit of a flirtatious tone.

And so Dante extended his hands to me for a shake but Mr blaze left where we were at that point so it made it way easier for me to ignore him and walk out of the room as I was tensed on this unexpected encounter.

Reaching my office, I sat on my couch at the corner of the room taking a deep breath, releasing all of my worries.

"Oh my goodness what have I done?" I asked myself as it all seemed confusing to me.

Then a sudden idea of calling Annabelle crept into my mind as I thought of telling her my dilemma, perhaps she would have a solution to solve it.

And so I said to myself, finalizing my inner thoughts, "I should call Annabelle, she would have some advice to share,"

With that, I took my phone from my bag and dialed her number as I quickly stood up from my seat looking tensed.

And so the call began ringing and suddenly the call got connected.

"Hey babes," Anna said to me in a playful tone.

But I wasn't in such a mood so I responded, "Anna, I am not in the mood, I have a serious problem at hand, and trust me when I say serious because it is on an extreme level,"

"Valerie, please calm your nerves, what's the problem is it Raymond trying to beg his way back?" She asked in a soft tone, voicing her thoughts.

"Come on Anna, I wouldn't even call you if that had happened," I said.

"Then what's the problem, please talk to me, you are making me scared," she uttered.

Taking a deep breath, I proceeded to tell her, "Do you remember that handsome-looking man at the

the bar section of the club?"

"Yes, I do, what about him?" She asked with haste in her voice.

"We got intimate, I mean we had a hot fuck," I confessed to her.

"O-M-G, Valerie I knew something would happen, so does he want to hook up once again or is your intimacy a big problem," Anna asked, as her curiosity quipped.

"You still don't get it, I just realized he is my boss, I can't believe I had a one-night stand with my boss, I feel so ashamed of myself as it is," I said to her, having a laced annoyance growing in me.

"What! Valerie, your boss, now that's a huge problem," She said to me.

"But thinking of it in another direction, that shouldn't be a problem, you had a nice time so did he, it shouldn't clash with your work at the office, come on Valerie live a little, you are single and not bound to any relationship so enjoy the moment while you can, but I must say I am proud of you for hooking up with a billionaire," she uttered.

"Anna you are truly impossible," I bantered.

"I know, what would you do without me," she joked.

"Uhmm, nothing I guess," I responded to her, as we both busted out our laughter on both ends.

"I have to go, Anna, I have to work," I said, as I tried excusing myself.

"Obviously, what else would you want to do at this hour, alright girlfriend take care of yourself," she said, in a playful tone.

And with that, the call ended as my worries increased, still feeling tense. So I returned to my seat to relieve myself of the tension a bit.
