Chapter 5 NEVER LET THEM KNOW YOUR NEXT MOVE

Jenny's POV

The next morning I woke up the earliest, ready to wish Xavier good luck in his exams. But to my surprise he was already gone. How could 9am not be possibly too early?

"Sweetheart, the exact person I was looking for." My dad said to me. "School starts tomorrow for you." He said delightedly.

That was the best news of my life! I was elated, brimming with joy and excitement, "Are you serious?" I asked my dad in a high pitched tone.

"Yeah, I talked to Mrs. Southgate and she agreed that I could pay in installments."

My mood switched abruptly, "What the hell, dad!" I yelled at him. "If Mrs. Southgate knows that you can't afford to pay my tuition, then the whole school knows that we've fallen off." I stressed in annoyance and frustration.

"Honey calm down, I told her to keep it between us. No one's gonna know." He assured me.

"Dad people talk, rich arrogant people talk. Do you know she told her son to tell me to leave school that day?"

"I know Barbara Southgate, she has principles." My dad enunciated.

"We'll let's hope one of those principles is to keep her mouth shut whenever someone tells her a secret." I retorted.

Amelia walked by with a heap of folded clothes on her hands, perhaps concerned, she asked, "Any problem?"

"None that you can solve," I said as I walked out on both of them.

"Amelia, wait." My dad said to her.

Mr. Parker's pOV

"Jenny is my princess, my first daughter, but sometimes she could be nerve cracking like her mother." I said to Amelia.

"Sir, I understand. I'm not offended."

"I promise she's not like that all the time."

"I know, I only worked here for three days before you sacked the rest of us. Sometimes I do see her smile," Amelia said as she turned back to look at Jenny. She turned back to look at me, wearing a concerned look on her face, "Do you care to tell me what really happened at the office?"

Immediately, I became stern. "Don't push yourself," I said to her then walked out on her.

"I'm sorry Mr. Parker."

Jenny's POV

I was at the balcony, waiting for Xavier. I sighted him from a distance, talking to Mr. Pedro, they discussed for a pretty long amount of time. He made his way into the house and his scream confirmed that he met my pleasant surprise. It was a confetti. I hurried on downstairs to congratulate him on successfully writing his scholarship exams.

"So, how was it? Are you sure you're gonna ace it?" I asked him.

"I thought it was gonna be tough, but after seating through it, it was easy peasy."

"Really? You're lucky you're smart. If it were me, I'd probably flunk it." I mocked my learning abilities.

"Learning isn't that difficult, most people make it seem difficult but it isn't."

"That's something only a smart person would say. Anyways, sorry about the confetti," I apologized playfully.

"That was your doing?" He said surprised. I admitted to it and just like that, he chased me around the house, both laughing hard while he did it. I have never felt more child-like. He eventually caught up with me by the poolside and cornered me. "You have no where to run now Jenny, I've got you cornered." He said while panting profusely.

"Fuck, I'm not gonna let you win though." I said while panting as well.

"I already won," he was too quick to speak, he didn't know I was street smart.

"Think again my good friend," I teased as I jumped into the pool.

"What the fuck!" He chortled, he couldn't believe it.

I wiped the water off my face and said at the top of my voice smiling, "Never let them know your next move!" He jumped into the pool too and swam over to meet me.

"Your next move has a loophole," he said to me deviously as he grabbed me tightly. I chuckled as I struggled inside the pool to release myself from his tight grip. To people who didn't know we were playing, it would seem as though he was forcing me or he wanted to rape me.

Then, out of the blue Liam appeared, "Let go of her motherfucker!" Liam yelled as he jumped into the pool to 'rescue' me.

He threw several punches at Xavier's face while I was left shocked and appalled. I tried stopping Liam from hurting Xavier the more by yelling and screaming at him to stop but he didn't listen to me. Shortly, my dad and Amelia came rushing to see why I was screaming so hard.

"Liam Southgate would you stop this nonsense right now!" My dad yelled, that was enough to make Liam stop. But it was too late, Xavier's face was badly bruised. My dad ordered us to get out of the pool so I helped Xavier and left Liam to help himself out.

"What happened? Why were you beating him up like a mad dog!" My dad said at the top of his voice.

"He put his hands on my fucking girlfriend! He forced her while they were in the pool!" Liam yelled while pointing at Xavier who looked badly bruised on the face.

"Dad that's not true!" I yelled in Xavier's defense.

"You will shut your mouth up young lady!" My dad said to me angered. Then he turned to Xavier, "Is this true?" My dad asked him in disbelief.

"No sir," Xavier replied to my dad while being unable to look at him.

"You're a fucking liar!" Liam said to Xavier with spite.

"Dad that's not what happened, if you could just let me speak!" I persuaded my dad.

"No, Liam doesn't lie." My dad said sternly.

"Sir, I think you should let her explain at least." Amelia urged my dad.

"Don't you have things to do?" My dad blurted. That put in her place what my dad said, so after apologizing, she left us.

"Dad Amelia's right, let me explain!"

"Fine! Speak."

"We were playing. He was chasing me he meant no harm, so he cornered me by the poolside and then I jumped in. He jumped in as well and then caught me, we were just fucking playing!" I said almost to tears.

"It was just a misconstrued scenario." Xavier added disappointedly.

My dad took a dramatic pause before saying, "Liam, go home. Xavier, Jenny, get yourselves cleaned up and go to your rooms."

Liam shook his head at Xavier and left angrily. Xavier apologized to my dad before leaving while I just looked at him with disappointment and left him.

Liam's POV

I was pissed and enraged, so I didn't care how I parked my car. It made a screeching sound that attracted my mother and she hurried downstairs to scold me.

"Liam, what in tarnation is wrong with you? You wanna ruin the car your dad worked so effortlessly hard to get you?" She gasped when she saw me drenched, "What happened to you, did you crash into a pool perhaps you're drunk again!"

"None of the above mother. I went to go see Jenny, to ask her why she has been missing classes but instead, I go there to meet her in a pool with another boy."

"They still got a pool?" My mother asked surprised.

"What do you mean they still got a pool, they've always had a pool in their mansion just like we do." I said confused.

"I can't say, I promised not to..." she stressed.

"Promised what?"

She exhaled sharply and then said quickly, "Jenny's father lost his job so he can't afford to pay Jenny's tuition. There, I said it."

"What?" I said underneath my breath, incredulously.

"But you have to keep mute about it, if anyone knows Jenny could be in a real mess and it wouldn't look good for you either."

"Yes mother," I assured her I was going to keep the Parker's secret safe. After all, I can't be girlfriend's with her if everyone knows that she has fallen off. Unless...
