Chapter 4 I SMELL LOVE

Jenny's POV

Temporary guest? What was my dad thinking harboring strangers into our home. Was that his way of making adjustments in our lives?! I told everyone to leave so I could qestion this Xavier guy, Liam didn't like Xavier that much I could tell. Carey was the last to leave, obviously.

"Carey would you just fucking leave?!" I stressed.

When everyone left the poolside and it was just me and Xavier, we took a walk around the house while I asked him series of questions.

"So, you're my temporary guest huh?" I said to him with my hands folded while we walked through the gardens.

"Yeah, I'm actually here for a scholarship exam. I never got your name."

"I'm Jenny. And, did you just say scholarship? You're that smart?" I asked him in disbelief.

"Why do you ask like that. I don't look smart do I?" He chuckled slightly.

"At all...you look like you copy off people's answers and like have girls do all your assignments for you." I teased. He laughed out loud and then he asked, "Do I strike you as a school's football captain or what? Those are the only people that get that kind of kingly treatment."

"Really? At my school, it's only if you're stupid rich and extremely handsome or the principal's son that's only when you get that type of treatment."

"Really?" he asked.

"Yeah, you're a nobody at my school if you don't have money, especially if you came in through scholarships. That reminds me, what school are you writing your scholarships exams to?" I asked him.

"Ah...I see you've met with Xavier already." My dad interrupted us. "It's amazing to see you guys already settling in pretty well." He added with a delightful smile.

"Yeah he was just about to reply I question I asked him," I turned to Xavier and asked, "So?"

He hesitated when my dad asked me what the question was, my dad wanted to reply so Xavier cut in abruptly. "Mr. Parker can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure," my dad replied as he walked with Xavier leaving me behind.

"Okay that was so rude!" I yelled.

Xavier's POV

After hearing what Jenny said I had to talk privately with Mr. Parker. "I see you're doing pretty well with my daughter back there," he said to me.

"She's a nice girl," I said.

"You don't wanna see her when she's mad." He jeered. "So why'd you say you wanted to talk to me?"

"Oh that... I uh...talked with Jenny and the things she said about KSA kinda made me feel should I say different about going there. Like a pang of insecurities."

"Different? A pang of insecurities? Did she say anything in relation to money?"

"She said and I quote, 'you're a nobody if you don't have money at KSA, especially if you get in through scholarships.' That's just me in words." I said sadly.

"Don't let that stop you, your uncle said it was your dream to go there so you could get into an Ivy League easily." Mr. Parker encouraged me.

"Nah that's not gonna stop me, but there is something that might." I hesitated as I spoke, "My life's gonna be miserable at KSA if everyone thinks I'm some poor kid who got in through scholarships."

"So what do you suggest?" He asked me.

"Can I make up a story? Just so no one can think low of me."

"Kid, caring about what people say might be the end of you. Just don't listen to haters, you're there for a reason, to get into a fucking Ivy. Just focus on that." Mr. Parker patted me on my back and left me.

I would've taken Mr. Parker's advice but I chose not to.

Jenny's POV

As much as I wanted to go to school I couldn't until my dad found a way to pay my tuition. There were only three ways I could get to continue schooling at KSA. One, if my dad somehow managed to find 10millions dollars to spare. Two, if Mrs. Southgate agreed for my father to pay in installments and three, if I took the scholarships exams. And it was only one of three I constantly prayed for, that is for my dad to find 10 million to spare.

During dinner, we all sat by the table, eating in silence. For some reason, Sabrina and Danny kept on staring at Xavier.

"Did I...do anything wrong?" He asked them innocently.

"You're hot, like overly too hot. Where'd you come from?" Sabrina asked him.

"Sabrina! That's not what we planned on saying to him." Danny gritted in annoyance.

"If he wasn't this hot, I would've planned on making his stay here a very miserable one." Sabrina said serious toned.

"Okay that's enough." My dad commanded.

"How are you all enjoying your meal?" Amelia asked cheerfully.

"It's the best, I love it." My dad turned to her and said with a smile.

"My pleasure sir. And the kids, do you like it?"

"Yeah Amelia, it's tasty." I said to her.

"You're a really good cook." Xavier's compliment to Amelia and the way he looked at her somewhat made me jealous.

"So Xavier, your exams tomorrow how'd you feel?" I asked him.

"Pretty tensed. But I know I'll ace it." He replied with confidence while he ate.

"You never told me what school you're writing this scholarship exams for?"

"It's bad luck to let people know before writing the exams." He replied.

"You're superstitious? I have immediately fallen out of love." Sabrina teased him.

"He's way over your league anyways." Danny ridiculed Sabrina.

"Fuck you Danny," she cursed.

"Language!" My dad yelled.

They both went silent and then made silly faces towards each other when my dad wasn't looking. This made Xavier chuckle.

After dinner, I escorted Xavier to his bedroom, "Are they always like that?" He asked.

"Not always. Sometimes, they team up and gang up against me."

"My siblings do that as well. Isabelle and Angelo, those little rascals." He said in a lowered tone.

We got to his doorstep and it was time to bid him good night, "You're not gonna go to bed right? You're gonna stay up all night reading aren't you?" I asked him nervously.

"Yeah, I really wanna get in so I guess that's what I'm gonna do."

"If you need any assistance I'm just a footstep away." I said as I smiled crookedly at him. His door was opposite mine, so we weren't that far from each other.

I was about to leave when he called me back, "Hey Jenny, thanks for not making me feel unwanted."

"You're welcome," I said softly as I went into my bedroom.
