Chapter 10 WHAT HAS XAVIER DONE !

Jenny's POV

Before school started, as early as 6am Sabrina followed my dad around the house, begging for his permission to attend a birthday party that was all the rage in her school.

"Please dad, everyone's talking about it, if I don't go I would literally pass away." She dramatically spoke.

"You know you can't do that right?" My dad said.

"Decline my request and you'll watch me die," she sinisterly said.

"Come on sweetheart, Mr. Pedro's driving me to a friend's place at the exact same time the birthday parties starting." Dad explained.

"We have five cars right? Jenny could take us." She said.

"Woah, I never completed my driving course. Plus, why would I do something that'll make you happy." I jeered.

"God forbid something should happen to your long cascaded hair." She threatened.

I gasped while touching my hair out of shock then a male voice from behind said, "I could drive her," it was Xavier.

"My messiah has spoken!" Joyous, Sabrina squealed.

"You can drive?" Dad asked him.

"Yeah, started when I was sixteen," he responded.

"Two years of experience, that's something." My dad commended him. After much deliberation, my dad accepted Sabrina's request. "Take the BMW and Jenny with you."

Xavier's reaction to what my dad said gave my response, "It's okay dad, I don't have to go with them." I said softly.

"But you'll be home all alone I can't have that," my dad insisted.

"I've been home all alone before haven't I? I can handle it for real and besides, Amelia's here with me." I persuaded.

Xavier cut in softly, " If you change your mind you're welcome to join us though,"

"Yeah right," I said as I went upstairs to get prepared for school. Unascertained, Xavier followed me directly up till we got to our bedrooms. Just as I was about to go into my room he said with a throaty voice, "Jenny you know you don't have to act like this,"

"Like what?" Knowing fully well what he was talking about I decided to dive into a pool of pretence.

"You declined your father's wish just because I was the one driving." He explained.

"I didn't decline his wish, I just didn't feel like leaving the house for some crappy tween birthday party." I sternly said to him.

"Okay, if you say so." He said as he placed his hands into his pockets, raised his head to the ceilings while biting his lips for a while before going into his bedroom.

Kingston Southgate Academy,

While we were at school, I avoided Xavier and he avoided me as well at the slightest convenience it was almost as if we hated each other.

"Did you guys fight at home or did Liam say something?" Monae asked.

"Both," I replied then I sighed. The three of us rested by our lockers as we discussed. "Liam threatened me and Xavier."

"Threatened you?" Abby asked confusedly.

"Why would he threaten you?" Monae asked as well.

Thinking back at what Xavier said to me at the patio the other day made me conclude on my decision to let my friends know about my family's situation. "You guys, I haven something to tell you."

Liam saw me in my mini skirt and body gripping white long sleeves so he thought it right to grab me amidst my friends and kiss me for minutes.

"Liam Southgate, this is very inappropriate!" Mrs. Duval apprehended Liam. He stopped then he laughed it off while his guys and supporters cheered him up.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Duval but she's my girlfriend. Since when did it become a crime to kiss your hot, sexy girlfriend in the hallways. Look around you, no one died, no one got harmed. Everyone's perfectly fine Mrs. Duval." Liam said arrogantly.

I felt for Mrs. Duval, Liam seconded her and bested her publicly, something only Mrs. Southagte could do. Before Liam left with his friends, he spanked my ass real hard. Disgusted by his actions lately, Monae said, "Is it just me or is Liam becoming more of a dickwad lately."

"Yeah, he's been real shitty these days." Abby remarked.

"Unlike him," Monae shrugged. "So, what was it you wanted to tell us?" Monae asked.

I was reluctant I changed my mind almost immediately, I was afraid of loosing them. Xavier was right. Shortly, the bell for the next class rang, saved by the bell I thought.

Class had begun and with a warm smile, Ms. Norman stood at the front of the classroom and announced, "Today, we're going to explore the power of teamwork and collaboration. I'm going to divide each of you into groups of two for a unique project."

The room buzzed with curiosity as Ms. Norman used a random name generator to pair up us up. Some exchanged nervous glances, while others were excited to work with their each other in a new way.

As the pairs formed, Ms. Norman explained the assignment. Each duo was tasked with choosing a topic from a list of societal issues that interested them. We were then to research and prepare a presentation highlighting potential solutions to their chosen problem. The catch was that the two students in each group had to have contrasting viewpoints on the issue.

And as if I knew, I and Xavier were paired. Immediately Ms. Norman called out the pairs, Liam seconded her. "Ms. Norman, I'm not a fan of your list."

"Excuse you young sir?" She said.

"I can't be paired with Carey, she's a dumbass. I'd rather be paired with my sweetheart; Jenny Parker." He arrogantly said.

Dumbass? I thought to myself.

"He did not just say that..." Abby whispered. Meanwhile the insulted just watched as everyone murmured indisctintively.

"That's not a very nice thing to say about your fellow classmate Liam." Ms. Norman cautioned.

"I didn't lie though," he said in his defense.

"Apologize this instant!" Ms. Norman ordered.

He was reluctant before he apologized, "I'm sorry I called you that, you're not a dumbass."

"Do you accept his apology?" Ms. Norman asked Carey.

"Yeah, yes I do." Carey said faintly.

As the class continued, Liam kept on staring at me and Xavier despite the fact that we were seated far apart from each other. The bell rang signaling the end of our class so Ms. Norman decided to wrap up her class by saying,

"This project is to be submitted next week so do well to bear it in mind. Plus, it accounts for 30 percent of your grades in this course."

After class, I and the girls made our way to the school's diner. "30 percent of our grades? That's bullocks!" Monae complained.

"Exactly what I thought about it as well. None of the societal issues interested me I mean, my dad and mom are fucking filthy rich!" Abby commented.

"The only solution to societal problems is obviously money and thank God we have a lot of those." Carey bragged.

"Jesus Christ can you guys be fucking empathetic for once!" I said irked by their arrogance.

Just as we were about to have our seats, Xavier walked up to us and asked if he could speak with just me. I scanned the place for Liam and when I couldn't see him, I spoke to Xavier.

"What do you want?" I asked him as I folded my arms.

"Since we're partners, I just wanna say I take tasks assigned to me as serious as I take any other thing in the world."

"Is that all?" I impatiently asked.

"One more thing-" just then, out of nowhere Liam popped out and pushed Xavier from me.

"I thought I told you to stay away from her!" Liam gritted in anger.

"Okay I have had about enough!" Frustrated and fed up, Xavier yelled and then threw his fist at Liam's face causing him to have an instant blackout. He had the whole room gasping in awe and utter shock. What had Xavier fucking done?
