Chapter 4 Impossible Confrontation

RUTH.

A week of tireless dedication, analyzing and reviewing the fingerprints on the necklace. We had made an important discovery: the necklace belonged to the terrorist, whom I and my partner Eva had been pursuing. The mystery was beginning to unravel, but the urgency was imminent. We managed to identify the terrorist's name, although not his face. It was being hidden by some hackers. His name was Orlai. That's all we'd managed. "Damn it, Eva, that's all we've got now." I looked at her, who was trying to cheer me up. "Calm down, we're going to get more than that, we're going to catch these bastards." She smiled at me and said the swear word so that only I could hear it.

I agreed with her, putting my hand on her shoulder, and together we went back to work. Hours passed, and we were in front of the security cameras. Searching for the terrorist before the next attack took place. My gaze was fixed on the screens, showing a group wearing clothes like those worn on the days of the murders. I began to track their movements, aware of the approaching danger. "Eva, they're heading for the next location. From what I can see, they're going to gather before moving on. I know exactly where they're going now. We need to act now before it's too late. Let's go first and then call for reinforcements.''

I said, conveying urgency and determination in my voice. My friend cleared her desk and said, approaching me, "Come on, we'll take them by surprise.'' I agreed with her, grabbed my cell phone, which was on the table, and typed the location into the GPS. Where the group was going to meet.

We ran towards the parking lot, anxious to catch up with them. Every second was crucial, and time seemed relentless; we couldn't afford to fail. Together, we headed towards the abandoned warehouse. Where the terrorists were preparing for their next attack. The terrorists' dark words about their next targets echoed in my mind. Strengthening my resolve to stop them.

I watched the terrorists' every move, determined and thirsty for revenge. My desire for justice drove me to drop each one of them in the name of all the innocent lives that had been taken. I was covered by a cap and a mask to hide my disfigured face from the explosion. I carried with me the determination of a warrior, equipped with guns and knives. I was determined to fight those who posed a threat to the city. ''Today, my revenge is only beginning,'' I said as I walked, looking around me.

As the chaos took over the streets, I moved towards the warehouse. Ignoring the nonchalance of the people who were indulging in joy. They seemed like completely senseless people. They didn't care about the danger many were in. This aroused my anger, but I controlled myself for the moment. I kept walking with my hands in my pockets.

RUTH.

We arrived at the indicated location, and I stopped the car well away from the spot. "Come on, we have to be active and not waver.'' Eva agreed. We drove to the location, which was close by. The tension in the air was palpable; with every step we took towards the place, the pressure increased. Eva and I approached the spot where the terrorists were, determined to stop the attack. Meanwhile, Eva and I were advancing. Ready to engage in a confrontation with the terrorists. I kept my eyes on the street. I didn't want us to be taken by surprise.

It was almost completely dark there.

My partner and I arrived at the venue, and I could feel that they were already there, all together. As we entered, I shouted for them to hear us.

"I am the New Orleans detective. Turn yourselves in now," I said, observing everything around me. But no sound was heard.

"Eva, go to the next floor. I'll take a look around."

My friend nodded and hurried away. I kept moving forward, keeping the gun in front of me, ready for any eventuality.

I heard footsteps and turned around, my heart racing.

Seeing the terrorist with a mask and a furious look on his face, I ducked and heard the shot. Luckily, the bullet passed right by me. I positioned myself, aimed at him, pulled the trigger, and managed to hit the unfortunate man's leg.

He screamed in pain and fell to the ground.

More shots were heard upstairs.

"Eva," I worried about my friend, and, as I ran up there, I was surrounded by a group of terrorists. I managed to slip between their legs with one agile movement. I knocked them down, buying myself some time.

I ran upstairs to check on my friend before dealing with the terrorists.

When I got there, I couldn't find her.

I could hear the terrorists' footsteps behind me.

I hid and crouched down, hearing the voice of one of them.

"There's no point in hiding from us. We'll find you, and you'll get the end you deserve, you bitch," he smiled and concluded, "You're not going to stop our plans. Understand?" He shouted. His voice scared me, but I stood my ground, trying to aim at them while still hidden.

I had good aim and shot one of them in the arm. The man cursed, looking around for me.

"You tramp. Where are you?'' He shouted, holding his bloody arm with his other hand.

I came out of hiding and said :

"Come and get me." I kept my face hidden, waiting for them.

They all ran towards me, armed.

I ran to the railing and heard the shots fired at me. I jumped down to the floor below, and, luckily, I caught my balance and didn't hurt myself.

The terrorists jumped after me, determined to kill me.

I ran and, after recovering, aimed at them, ready to stop all the evil.

They surrounded me again. One of them advanced with a knife in his hand. He kicked my gun away.

I looked at him with a tight heart, but I was willing to show my combat skills.

"Before you get shot in the head, you're going to suffer a lot." I said nothing more, prepared for what he would do.

The big terrorist lunged at me, trying to stab me in the stomach.

I dodged and, with a sharp blow from my elbow, hit him in the back. Even though he was big, I wasn't a weak woman. I had worked hard to defend myself in battle.

He fell to his knees, feeling a stabbing pain in his back. I twisted his arms, grabbed my gun, and shot the terrorist in both legs, and he screamed in pain.

I turned to the others.

"Who's next?" I said, wiping away the sweat and looking at them.

One of them lost his temper and advanced with such fury that he punched me in the jaw. I fell backward, off balance, and hit the ground, feeling my lip bleed and hurt a lot.

Still down, I picked up my gun and aimed it at him. But the other man, big and angry, aimed at me, smiling. "Die, you bastard, like your friend.'' As he said this, I felt tears fill my eyes. Was Eva dead? I held back the tears, looking at him.

When his hand was on the trigger. I heard the sound of a gunshot, and the man fell motionless to the ground, lifeless next to me.

The other terrorists, noticing yet another enemy, turned to see who it was.

But when they looked, they saw only a figure walking past them, shot down one by one. They had no chance to fight back.

I was stunned, unable to understand what was happening. I stood up, holding my gun, and looked around. I saw a terrorist approaching me, pointing his gun at me.

I ran and hid so as not to be answered. When I turned to hit the terrorist, he was faster.

He shot at me, and I managed to dodge a little, causing the bullet to graze my arm.

"Fuck!" I cursed as I aimed for the man's head. I hit him, and he fell motionless to the ground.

I put my hand on my arm, feeling the blood drain. The bullet hadn't gone through my arm, but it had hurt me.

I saw several lifeless bodies on the ground and thought it was all over. But, I noticed a wounded man who was still alive and determined to kill me. He only had a knife, and he laughed as he threw it in my direction.

I didn't have time to dodge.

Then a figure appeared in front of me, dressed in black. I stared at this man, wondering who he was.

He grabbed the knife out of the air and aimed it at the eye of the terrorist. Who fell, moaning and fainting. I lay stunned on the ground, frightened at the sight of this strange figure in front of me.

Amid the chaos, a giant shelf fell on my leg, and I fell to the ground, feeling its weight on me. '' What the fuck!'' I cursed out loud.

I looked at the man, who still had his back to me, but he seemed to hear me moaning in pain. The man turned and looked at me, noticing my bruises. I was terrified when I saw his yellow eyes. I was frightened by this man with long hair and a mask covering his face. Who was he? I could not speak at the time, I was so scared.

Then his eyes returned to their normal color, and I panicked, thinking I was delirious.

I tried with the rest of my strength to get out of there, but to no avail. I was weak. I felt the tears fall into my eyes, giving up on getting out of there. I wasn't going to make it. , I felt someone very close to me. I looked straight ahead, focusing on the man's dark eyes. With a simple gesture, he took the shelf away from me. He seemed to have pushed it off without any effort. I was free, and the strange man was standing in front of me. Staring at me with eyes as dark as the night. I tried to get up, but my leg hurt. I complained once more, and when I looked at the man, he was on his back again.

Who is he? I thought. I heard footsteps coming towards us, it sounded like the police from my base. The man seemed to realize this, looked at me again, and, in a matter of seconds, disappeared from my sight. As if by magic. "How did he do that?'' I couldn't think straight anymore, and I started to lose consciousness. I began to see everything black. My energy had run out.
