Chapter 3 Emotional Breakdown

By the time I reached Ember, the restaurant where I worked, two blocks away, I could feel a silver of sweat brushing my upper back. I dived into the delicious smell of burnt coffee and sweet pastries as I went through the back at the kitchen where I worked as a waiter.

Hey Kira, I greeted with a smile as I entered the Kitchen.

"Really Dia, you late again, the boss is fu****g mad and he wants you in his office right now, and trust me he isn't smiling, and when I said right now i mean RIGHT NOW"

Oh great! I mumbled as I found my way to his office. And the one thing about my boss, he never smiles,goshh i can't believe how a human can do without even wearing the faintest of smile on his face, and whenever he's angry it's like an hot larva ready to blow out some Volcano, and the last time i saw him lashed out on Kira, trust me, it wasn't good he almost tore her into pieces but i guess it's my turn today. What a way to start the day.

"Here goes nothing " I murmured to myself as I knocked on his door.

"Yes, come in. " I heard him say from the inside. As I entered his office, I saw a Dark, huge man relaxing on the couch with his back facing me. "It's Diana sir" I announced, and as he turned to look at me, "Diana." He said with his leg crossed and on the table, his arms crossed over his tuxedo with a large computer on his table. His eyes staring like a cold sky on a winter morning, his piercing gaze ready to tear into pieces anything it comes in contact with, his dark hair smoothly and perfectly curled. And oh boy! He seemed pretty annoyed with me.

I felt shivers run down my back as I couldn't break eye contact. As he lifted up his gaze he offered me a seat and to my surprise he wasn't yelling and shouting like he always does, but I said in my mind maybe he wants me to feel relaxed before shouting at me. As I walked up to sit still shivering I managed to get my ass sited trying as much as possible to hide my nervousness.

"Diana Diana Diana" he called out to me staring at me like a Lion ready to pounce on a prey "yup, i saw this coming, you are so dead girl" i said to myself as i heard him continue

"You know, there are certain people in life who don't have this kind of life you're living."

"oh please my life? I'm sure no one lives a life as rough as mine" i kept saying to myself

He started rolling a pair of dice an his table as he continues"

You come late to work every damn time and all you give me are lame excuses about you trekking here all the way from your street?" "Actually sir I ain't lying I said to him" when i clearly know he knows where i live and that I'm just capping.

"Oh really!" He shouted at me "you know you don't lie to me, i will always find out one way or the other, or what do you think that just because I'm being lenient on you while you pull out shit in my restaurant when clients and customers try to get close to you"

"But sir,"

I tried to speak but he didn't listen as he kept lashing out on me and tears managed to find their way to my eyeballs.

"You know girl, we get our money from these people, I get to run this restaurant only when they patronize us, and only then I get to pay you motherfuckers and that's from their money, that's how I get to pay you girl! Only and only if you satisfy their wants and that is what you're paid to do.

And what do you think, that you're more than your colleagues who tends to me customers whenever their service is needed?

Oh no girl you are nothing less than them..and you know you are as worthless as a church rat without me in your life.

Ohh! Oh! Oh! Or are you thinking that just because I was acting all nice when I found you, I'll just overlook all the atrocities you committed in my restaurant? You know i picked you up on that street that night so that you could get to make me money and get to feed yourself a little and you know this by now, if it hadn't been for me that night you probably be dead like your mother or perhaps locked up in jail because the cops caught you stealing so that you can fill your little tummy. He said as he points out his hands to my tummy

So "Diana" he called out to me one more time as he walked back to his cabin and sits down

"You better not be an ingrate or you sure will regret it for the rest of your life that you know pretty well.. Understood?"

"Yes sir!" I managed to answer back as rivers of tears were already rushing down from my eyes. I rubbed the tears off my face with the back of my palm as I walked to the exit of the office.

My friend Kira was there peeping through the door and listening to our conversations, but I guess she knew it was gonna turn out like this one way or the other.

"Hey Dia shake it off, you really don't have to think about any of what that asshole said, you know it's not true right?" She tried to cheer me up,but wasn't helping matters anyways.

"I know it's true Kira, every fucking thing he said in there was true and i know it, we both know it" I replied

"Errmm you know what I'm just gonna go to my section and start working already hun? Take care Kira" I said to her to avoid prolonging the conversation and started walking away without waiting for a reply from her.
