Chapter 5 5

KATHRYN'S POV

"WAKE UP THERE!!!" What's up with Daniel this early in the morning? He's such a downer.

I got up from bed and opened my room's door.

"WHAT'S THAT? IT'S ONLY 10:00 IN THE MORNING!!!" I shouted back at him. I'm tired because we talked all night on Kha-kha's (Khalil) phone. Why? I just missed my other best friend.

"Sorry!" Is this for real? Did he just apologize? "Wow. Is this a miracle? Should I attend mass in Quiapo later?" I teased him.

"I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU!!!" Look at this. Mood swing.

"Just kidding! What do you need?"

"Mama called. We're having lunch at home, so get ready." Then he turned around and added, "Next time, before you leave your room, make sure you're wearing shorts, okay?" What?

I suddenly looked at what I'm wearing.

Oh no! I forgot to put on shorts. I'm just in panties and a big shirt because that's what I wear to sleep! This is so embarrassing!

Daniel and I were quiet as we traveled to Mama's house. I don't know why he's so quiet. What did he eat that makes him this silent every day?

But there's a part in my heart,

I miss the days when the two of us were noisy.

Did I say that? Just kidding.

I snapped back to reality when he spoke, "What's up, Chubby? Don't you plan to get out of the car?" He's already outside.

I peeked outside, and we're already in front of Daniel's house. "Oh, hehe," I just scratched my head. I was thinking too deep. I didn't realize we're already at Mama's house.

"You're so slow!" I heard him mutter.

"What did you say?" I couldn't hear him.

"Nothing, you deaf person! Clean your ears regularly. Don't just focus on Spongebob all the time," he suddenly smiled.

Is that really a smile? It's like the first time I've seen him smile. I suddenly felt something moving in my stomach.

Maybe it's just hunger.

"You're really something. You're such an abnormal guy!" I playfully hit him with his glass.

"Hahaha! Don't tickle me," he said, not seeming bothered by my hit. Oh, right, he goes to the gym. He has muscles. Fine, he has the muscles. Hmmp.

"Kath, Daniel, that's enough!" Mama suddenly appeared at the door. "Come inside. The food is ready." Mama said and went back inside.

The guy suddenly grinned :p and ran inside.

"You're really abnormal, anytime," I thought to myself.

We just ate with Mama. I was surprised because there are only three of us eating, but the food feels like it's a feast. Papa is not here; he has out-of-town business. Oh well, that's why they're getting richer.

I suddenly missed my parents. They're in America, living there. Well, they come back here for occasions. But when there's none, they expect me to visit them. They're also busy with our business.

I miss Mama :'(

After we finished eating, Mama and I chatted for a bit. Daniel is in his old room. I don't know what he's doing there.

"Kath, how are you and Daniel at your house?" Mama asked.

"Uh, we're okay, Ma." I slightly smiled at Mama.

"I know that you and Daniel are not on good terms. You were both shocked by what happened. But I hope you won't fight. I don't want you to argue," Mama looked sad.

"It's okay, Ma. Let's forget about it. Besides, I'm getting used to married life and to Daniel's teasing." Used to it? Yes, Kath. You're used to married life and to that annoying guy.

"Thank you, my child." Then Mama hugged me. "I'll leave you here for now. I'll pick up Danilo from school. He has a tutor." Wow, I miss Danilo. Daniel's brother.

"Sure, Ma. Take care :)"

DANIEL'S POV

"Anak?" Mama called me from outside. I'm in my old room, about to sleep.

I opened the door. "Yes, Mom?" I asked.

"I'll be leaving for a while, okay? I'll fetch your sibling," Mom said.

"Sure, Mom. Take care," I was about to close the door when Mom spoke again.

"By the way, my child," I looked at Mom. "I hope you lessen your arguments with Kathryn. Don't always be at odds."

"She's sometimes the one at fault, Mom."

"Even so, my child. Kathryn is a girl. It's natural for us to have a hot temper occasionally. And what if she leaves you? Can you handle going home alone? To a quiet house, without Kathryn's usual noise. Can you?"

I couldn't respond to what Mom said.

What if she leaves me? Can I go home alone? Without finding her in our house?

I glanced at the living room and saw Kath smiling while watching something.

Suddenly, my heart started beating faster. This is so corny. Maybe I have a heart problem. Psh.

My phone suddenly received a text.

From: Julia <3

Can we meet now? Starbucks. I have something important to tell you!

Seems important, so I quickly changed my clothes and went out of the room.

KATH'S POV

"Chubby, I'm leaving for a bit! Just meeting a friend," Daniel said.

Wow. The guy looks handsome in his outfit today. I wonder who that friend is? Why does he need to dress up like that? Maybe it's Julia?

Oh well. Why am I even thinking about it? What do I care? But there's a part of me that thinks maybe it's Julia he's meeting. Suddenly, it feels like a needle is piercing my heart. It hurts! Weird.

"Okay," I said without looking back.

I heard his car leave. Ugh! So skillful. They left me alone in this house. It's so boring.

Suddenly, I remembered to text Kha-kha and invite him to hang out.

To: Kha-Kha

Where are you? Pick me up at, let's go out? :)

After 10 minutes, he replied that it's okay, so I went out of the gate to wait for him.

After another 10 minutes, a blue car arrived. It must be Kha-kha.

My handsome best friend stepped out of the car, smiling.

"Let's go?" he said, opening the car door.

"Wow. My Kha-kha is such a gentleman!" I said, pinching his cheek, then got into the car.

He immediately got in and started driving.

"Where do you want to go?"

"Just to Sm, Kha-kha," I said.

"Sure," Kha-kha smiled again. My best friend is really handsome.

DANIEL's POV

When I arrived at Starbucks, I immediately saw Julia sitting. So I approached her.

"Sorry if I'm late," I said as I sat in front of her.

"It's okay. I just got here," she smiled. Her beautiful smile.

"So, what are we talking about?"

"About us," she said directly.

"What about us?"

"I won't beat around the bush, Daniel. I love you, and I know you love me too."

"Wait? I don't get it. What do you mean?"

"That I'm saying yes to you! That it's okay for me to be married to Kathryn. I know you don't love her, and you'll eventually break up, right?"

"Ah...yeahhh. So, you mean?"

"Yes. We're together now, babe."

"Wow!" If I could jump for joy, I would. Finally, my long-time mutual understanding is now official.

"But, Daniel, after 1 year, please process your annulment papers quickly?"

"Don't worry, Julia. I will :)"

"Thanks! Let's go on a date?" Then she stood up.

I stood up too, and she held my hand, smiling.

But there's a part of my heart saying that what I'm doing is wrong. I'm deceiving Kath! Tsk, it's so confusing.
