So here I am in the Hoh Rain Forest with Bo, who is happily jumping and running around. He's a bright little guy. Watching him just makes me happy.
Aunt Heather was right. The forest was really around the corner and it only took me about 5 minutes to find it.
At first I was worried about Bo running away, although Heather had assured me he wouldn't. Which is why I spent some time with him on a meadow in front of the forest. But then I realized that Heather was right again. So I actually went into the forest with Bo without hesitation.
I threw him a stick I had picked up at the edge of the forest.
He ran straight after the stick, picked it up, and ran over to me.
I enjoyed the light breeze that the wind blew towards me. She was very pleasant. I had left the house in a blue sweater and sport leggings. And wore my black sneakers.
I threw the stick at Bo a few more times until my oh so great inner voice spoke up to Daisy.
*cough irony *cough.
I know I'm great! Since even the irony pulls in the tail my dear!
But that's not why I'm signing up. It's because I wanted to let you know that you smart girl got lost. And that's because you were so fascinated by little Bo...
Oh shit! You're right! Not again...why do I always tend to get lost?
Of course I did.
Oh man....
damn...and now? I looked around in a bit of a panic. I actually hadn't paid attention to where we were walking. Such a crap!
Bo looked at me questioningly with his wonderful hazel eyes and wagged his little tail.
Oh Bo... what kind of situation did I get us into just by my clumsiness or rather my inattentiveness? I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair in desperation.
I had already walked quite a distance with him, there were quite a few forks and they all looked the same. Which is why I just stopped and thought about what I should do best.
Bo has meanwhile made himself comfortable on the floor and is waiting for any reaction from me.
You dumbass can't even use your cell phone because you left it on the dresser next to your bed to charge.
I could smack myself on the forehead for my behavior, but that wouldn't do us any good in the end.
And after a few more minutes, while I was still thinking, I heard a few voices.
I turned around and saw two girls. Before I could say anything, Bo started to run towards the two of them.
I followed him and also approached the two.
They were petting little Bo when I joined them.
"Hey...um...I got lost and I don't really know how my little friend and I are going to find our way back home. If it isn't too much trouble for you, could you please show me the way?" I pulled myself together and said these sentences because I was someone shy and under other circumstances I avoided speaking to strangers. But it was necessary because I didn't want to put little Bo out there all night with me.
The two look at me alternately and scrutinize me. I did the same and looked at them closely.
The difference was that after a moment I felt awkward. Since the two in front of me are pretty pretty and even a bit intimidating..
I thought I always looked normal. There are always people who are better looking than you.
My parents, Heather and a couple of my then-boyfriends often said I was really pretty, but still...it didn't really change anything because I was pretty shy.
The two in front of me look really nice, but since I don't know them and I don't know what makes them tick, I prefer to stay quiet and wait and see what they have to say.
"Hey you... well I haven't seen anyone get lost here.
It's really an achievement to pull it off. I've never seen you here before either, are you new here?" One girl breaks the silence first.
"Yes, I moved here to my aunt's today and was supposed to walk the dog." I pointed to Bo, who has meanwhile thrown himself onto his back and is having his stomach scratched by the other girl who is squatting next to him.
"Achsoo is that... well then..." came from the girl, who was still unknown to me.
"Where do you live?" it came from the girl who keeps scratching Bo's stomach but looks at me curiously.
"I live at 505 S Francis St I don't know if that means anything to you... if it helps, when I wanted to go to the woods with Bo it only took five minutes from there..."
"Bo?" Both asked at the same time and then looked at each other laughing.
They seem to be good friends. It would be nice if I could also find friends here who have the same thoughts as me.
I interrupted the two and explained to them who Bo is. Then they laugh again. I laugh with them this time.
And it's like the ice is broken between us. Because a few seconds later, one of the two introduced himself and the other.
"Well that's a really fun name for the little one. My name is Kimberly by the way but just call me Kim and the girl next to me that Bo scratches her tummy all the time is Jolene but you can call her Jo as it's everyone do it. In fact, I think I know where you live. Your aunt isn't Heather by any chance?"
"That's exactly what my aunt is. I'm Katharina, but you're welcome to call me Kate. Nice to meet you. How do you know my aunt?" I also introduce myself and ask where you might know my aunt from .
Now it was Jo who answered my question. But she still scratches Bo. Which makes me smile. "That's a nice name! It suits you. You're absolutely beautiful, by the way."
At the same time she winked at me.
"We are also pleased to meet you Kate. Your aunt is the author par excellence, everyone who knows anything about books knows her here. She is also really friendly and to make it short I live across from her." Jo laughs Come on.
"I also live across the street from her, by the way. And she's really great. Kate you look really pretty, apart from the fact that you're staring at you like a lost deer." Kim answered again.
Her words made me blush a little. I look down, embarrassed, and mumble a little "thank you" to myself.
"You look stunning."
The words came out of my mouth faster than I wanted and we started laughing again.
We talked and fortunately hit it off right away. Both also go to my new school and they also offered to accompany me to school on Monday.
We stood in the same place for over an hour when it slowly started to get dark.
We completely forgot the time. Also, we would have kept talking if Bo hadn't started growling.
Kate that wasn't Bo! The growl came from behind. And as if such a small dog could growl so monstrously!
I look behind me in shock, but can't see anything. One moment after the other, Bo actually started to growl. But it sounded much quieter than the first growl, which confirmed Daisy's statement and the first growl could not have been Bo's.
I look at Kim and Jo desperately.
Both look at each other briefly. I couldn't read their looks. Shortly thereafter, they turn to me.
"Kate do you have a leash for Bo? I think we should go now." Kim whispers to me.
I nod and pull the leash out of the front pocket of my sweater. I put Bo on the leash and Kim and Jo were about to run when we heard a creepy growl again.
It came from the right and behind us. Before I could react, Kim grabbed my wrist and looked me in the eye. She'd given me a what-are-you-waiting-for-Kate-come-let's-quickly-get-out-of-here look at me.
We finally hurried and, thank God, arrived unharmed.
I thanked them both and we made a time for Monday morning.
Now I lay in my bed. Snuggled up under my soft blanket and Bo is lying next to me.
I cleaned his paws in my bathroom and didn't mind when he lay down next to me. I was actually very happy to have him with me.
I reviewed the whole day or the afternoon until the evening and wallowed in my thoughts.
My arrival was wet. And I was annoyed by lightning and thunder.
It was my favorite meal.
A very embarrassing meal.
And a very weird trip to the woods.
Although I have new friends now.
But I still couldn't really realize what was going on towards the end...or even explain it to myself...
I kept wincing at each growl on the way back. There were so many... And I had never heard anything like it before.
Luckily Kim and Jo were with me. They kept trying to calm me down. Or they helped me when I almost stumbled... and I would.. unfortunately several times....
I stared at the ceiling for a while.
And came to the conclusion that I would go into the forest again tomorrow. Apart from this incident, it was very nice there....
With a little smile I fell asleep at some point.
