Chapter 4 4

Six whole months have passed since I last saw him.

His dark eyes wandered the classroom until they landed on me. As he stared, the tension in his brows appeared to ease.

Holy crap. No portion of my body registered on my senses. My soul felt light as air as it floated above my chair.

Like I'd seen a ghost, my limbs shook and my chest tightened.

The students were alert and began to whisper in amazement.

"Oh my goodness. Let's hope it's not Keiran Diaz. It's been forever. "The instructor made the remark with a huge grin on his face.

Keiran didn't say a word and quietly nibbled on what I assumed was bubble gum. He moved closer, knocking over several books on the teacher's desk and forcing Mrs. Katherine to stoop to pick them up.

Gosh! The poor lady.

I would hurry over to assist her if he weren't one of my worst fears.

Still, I was having trouble breathing evenly, and sweat was beginning to form on my forehead. The heat and tension were unbearable.

He and his human closest friend Hillary began making their way to the rear of the auditorium.

Oh God. Weird, right? From whence on earth did he emerge?

My body gradually tightened up.

I fiddled with the seatbelt and the height. I felt uneasy all of a sudden. I looked like a sitting duck in his sights.

Okay, don't even bother asking that... Him... He is looking down my neck.

What gave it away?

In my gut, I know it!

The heaving continued gently throughout class. my sternum

I can't wait to get out of here.

As expected, the bell chimed shortly thereafter.

Goodness, I appreciate it, Moon Goddess.

As I hastily selected my textbooks, I became aware of Daphne's gaze upon me. "Are you okay?" I smiled crookedly in response to her apprehensive question. Even though I was facing him, I dared not look at him.

"Yes, what about we go grab some lunch?" When I asked her, she confirmed my suspicions.

I tried to leave class on foot, but his prying eyes had an effect on my legs, and I ended up almost running.

Daphne and I were getting to know one other better as we walked to lunch together.

"I don't want to lose my mother to her illness. How long has she been ill?" She broke the news sadly.
