Chapter 6 CEO's Girlfriend's Ridiculous Thoughts...

Chapter 6. CEO's Girlfriend's Ridiculous Thoughts...

Melinda took a break at her work–Dolan's Cafeteria. As her typical day ritual; primarily during lunch, she posed at the everyday restaurant corner table and commenced to relish her coffee. With a Chicago Daily Nation Newspaper in her hand, she concentrated on her reading. On her right hand was her favourite milkshake and a tiny chunk of black forest cake. Unsystematically, her eyes met the narrative of the demise of Jessica – Adam's missis.

The 56-year-old woman's snapshot that met her eyes left her heart shivering. Jessica was always her favourite woman and occasionally, she strived to be like her. Despite being brutal to the boys–Cody and Luke, she was always kind-hearted and substantiating to her. Her shocking driving accident caught her mind unaware, reminding her of the moment when Cody flew from the city to anonymous land. Her feelings couldn't bypass how one evening she had enlightened her with fabulous guidance. The incredible recommendation cost her mourning throughout her entire life.

Despite her guidance turning into a lousy one, Melinda hadn't condemned her, but her boyfriend–Cody. Perhaps, she understood that not all hints work equally for everyone. If that was the way she manipulated her husband's devotion, and it worked, she wasn't awry if it didn't work on her son, Cody. Melinda didn't want to see her as the justification behind her break-up with Cody. If Jessica was to be asked, she could enunciate that she had done a favour to her by offering her the suggestion.

Jessica had sat her in their dining room, after preparing a wonderful cake for Cody's birthday, and conversed. They enjoyed the conversation until she opened up with her amazing suggestion. Jessica had always attended to how she had previously reacted to the scenery of Cody, and that aggravated her. That wasn't the reasonable method, as she asserted. After sipping coffee frequently during that cold winter, Jessica told her that to succeed Cody's devotion, she was reckoned to make him desirous. Tired of Cody's inflexibility, she tried to make him envious by feigning that she was curious about his best friend– Brian. What a terrible outcome!

How ludicrous she was to appoint his best friend. Perhaps, if she had selected an alien wisely, Jessica's strategy could have worked. Brian was dubious of her plan at foremost since he was convinced that Melinda's heart belonged to Cody. After pressing that it wouldn't be a major deal, he admitted without comprehending how badly he was going to wound his friend. Nothing love like existed between them. The date meant nothing to him, either.

What she anticipated reasonably became her regrets after Cody twisted her down. Staking everything for the sake of triumphing him through jealousness, Jessica's strategy boomeranged, leaving her helpless. Instead of being devoted to her, as Jessica had predicted, he became a refugee in another country, contending that Melinda had fooled him. What a catastrophe! After whatever worse had transpired between them, she reckoned Brian knew his heart more than she did. He had cautioned her about the impeding hazards that awaited her, and definitely, it ensued.

The nastiest were her reflections on what had transpired that night. Outraged, remorseful and heartbroken, Cody had stood there motionless. His pale face implied the ludicrous thoughts that run through his sanity. Shuddered by her nasty behaviour, unbelievably, he couldn't withstand grief any more. Every time she thought about him, painful shudders ran down her spine. After scrutinizing them thoroughly for seconds, he couldn't believe what kind of woman Melinda was. His eyes read through Brian's marble and back to her little one. What a torture! His intellect must have thought.

"What kind of amusement, Melinda? And you, Brian? What torment of a friend are you?" he snarled. Deeming the burning crisis between them, his remarks were as kind as he could ponder off. If he hadn't shrieked to awaken the dead, then precisely, his remarks were mild. Helplessly, he had veered around from them, wishing them victory and vanished. Early in the morning the next day, he left the city forever without saying goodbye to anyone. What an absurd determination to escape without clarification!

For the one and a half years, Melinda wasn't conscious of his whereabouts. Additionally, Brian hadn't heard from him, and she wasn't anticipating speaking to him. Not a single reflection of him brought a smile to his lips. Despite having remarkable adventures through the ranch before his betrayal, he couldn't reminisce of anything pleasant with him. Overwhelmed with disgrace, Melinda was unable to face any of Cody's relatives to ask about his whereabouts. Extremely, she was unable to face his brother, fearing to be termed as the rationale for his disappearance.

Periodically, Melinda considered being mute as a gift to her. Occasionally, she thought of hunting him to know where he had vanished to, but after acknowledging that he wasn't a child any more, she declined her idea. Could she pamper a grown–up man over cherishing her? Furthermore, chasing after him could erase all the worthwhile dignity and independence she had built when he was away.

For certain, her thoughts were right about Cody's existence. She was absolute that regardless of what misery had hounded him away from his family, he wasn't going to mess–up with his mother's funeral. And he did come home. At least, this time, her ridiculous thoughts were fulfilled.

Melinda couldn't figure out his current look after a year and a half without seeing him. She could feel his flirtatious demeanour around her. His young, adorable face was still fresh in her fantasy. Would he loathe her forever and never want to see her again? Rhetorical questions haunted her!

"Welcome back, Melinda, from your world of fantasy. I know you miss him... Thinking about him won't help you with anything, Mel!" snapped Madeline. He peeked at her newspaper and beamed. Melinda couldn't get what was humorous with him, with such sad news.

"How sure are you about my thoughts? I think you are mistaken, Madeline..." she argued, slightly opening a different page of her newspaper. She pretended to like someone busy reading something intriguing and significant, of which her keen eyes couldn't concentrate on what she was glimpsing...
