Angela thanked Lyla for the style. While seated in the chair she paid her and gave a generous tip to Lyla and the shampoo girl. As she stood she was a little shaky on her feet. "That bistro down the way should be open for lunch now, right?" I'm going to eat something to help soak up this alcohol. " "I'll come with", said Lyla. " My next appointment just cancelled, so I have some time." "That is if you don't mind." Angela was glad she wouldn't be eating alone.
"What are you going to do now, Angela? " I have not given myself much time to think about it." Lyla responds, "It's time for you to start thinking about what you're going to do. You need to formulate a plan." "I will start my life again soon, I have enough money to rest on for now. Maybe I will put those degrees to work and start a business of my own." " That sounds good, that is the beginning of a plan. What are you going to do about that ex-husband of yours and the girl you thought was a friend?
Angela did not want to talk about them or think about them. The more Lyla talked, the more Angela felt she was right. Something needed to be done to teach them a lesson. As the night played back in her mind she remembered telling them both "This is far from over". Had she spoken those words out of hurt or did she truly believe they deserved to pay for what they had done to her?
"Angela, Angela", Lyla said. "Girl where did you go? I was asking if your food was alright, you stopped eating so abruptly and went into a daze" Shocked back to reality Angela replied "yes my food is alright, I was just thinking too hard I guess. Lyla laughed and told her "you've got to stop doing that, you scared me that time." "So, what we're you thinking about?" Angela thought that was a very personal question to ask, seeing they had just met, but she had to admit she really liked Lyla and could tell they would be very good friends. She decided to talk to Lyla about the question in her head.
"I'm just not sure if I want to start my new life concerned with my old one, it's over and done now. "Has the divorce been settled? Lyla asked rhetorically. Then it's not over, there will be court appearances and fees. You could not even go to your regular stylist today for fear of having to talk about what happened. Angela this is not over and done yet. You have to deal with family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers asking what happened. You will be reliving the pain you felt and dealing with them blaming you for a long time. Do you think that is fair?
Angela decided right then that she would not let the way they treated her go unanswered. Edward thought he had gotten the best of her , but he was sadly mistaken. He viewed her as useless and weak but he was about to witness her true strength.
