Chapter 3 New Day New Me

In the center of town Angela was awaking to a new day in new surroundings. Everything seemed so unfamiliar. As she batted her eyes adjusting them to the morning sunlight, she was also adjusting to her new life. She decided since she had a new life she would also have a new attitude.

Angela went into the bathroom and washed her face. When she held her face up and looked in the mirror she knew that she wanted to do something drastic. She reached into a draw pulled out her scissors and cut over half her hair off. She looked at herself and said "I will be going to the salon today after this hack job". Angela rolled her eyes in disbelief and awe. She couldn't help but chuckle within herself, because she had not hesitated, she had not calculated the consequences, she just acted and that was not like her.

Angela took a shower and dressed down in a t-shirt and sweats with her favorite pair of tennis shoes. This would normally be the time she would pull her long hair back into a ponytail. "What have I done?" She picked up her phone to call her normal stylist and realized she could not go there, not today... She did not want to face Shelia ,her regular stylist. She did not want to explain why she cut her hair, she did not want to explain what happened between her and Edward, or how Michelle was in the middle. Angela felt like she needed to think so she put on a baseball cap and went for a walk through her new neighborhood.

While walking through the neighborhood Angela took in the beautiful surroundings. She noted that she was in a central location. She was in walking distance from a grocery store, gas station, and a small shopping complex. The area was not overdeveloped it was mostly residential. Angela decided to check out the shopping complex and maybe grab something to eat from the bistro located there. When passing each suite, she noticed one of them was a salon. She stood outside looking into the window. The decor was beautiful all she could really see was the receptionist area. The place looked warm and inviting so she walked in.

The receptionist met Angela with a big smile. "Hello, can we help you?" "Hi, I was wondering if any of your stylist has an opening for today." The receptionist asked, "are you looking for a morning or afternoon appointment?" "Anytime is good for me, I'm available all day." "Can you tell me a little about what you are looking for today?" Angela took off her hat and explained what she did. She needed someone who could fix what she had done to herself. The receptionist chuckled and said "I recommend Lyla she is the best at the breakup, hook-up. That's what we call it around here. We have seen our share of these do it yourself haircuts." Angela could not help but laugh at herself again and think she must be in good company. "Lyla it is then, l want to come out of this a new person."
