IRIS POV
My whole body hurts so badly that I couldn't help but emit a loud groan. "Ugh."
I remembered that I jumped down from a cliff, which means that I was dead.
I heard that dead people don't feel pain, have I been fed lies just like my identities and all? Thinking about my identity and everything that happened sent tears clouding my eyes.
My head was pounding, and I was suddenly feeling thirsty, which made everything weird.
"Are you awake?" The sweetest and softest voice I have ever heard drifted into my ear which made my eyes fly wide open
I found myself in a room that was decorated with pink all through. Besides, there was a woman who was standing beside me.
My eyes were blurry, so I couldn't make out her features, but I guess that she owns the sweetest voice that I had just heard.
"Who are..." A glass of water was stretched toward me which interrupted my question.
Now everything was getting more confusing.
I jumped down from a cliff which ended my life, so what am I doing here? Is this heaven? Who's this woman? Is she an angel? And why was she handing me a cup of water? Should a corpse like me be drinking water?
I have many questions running through my mind, but my thirst for water was more interesting to me than the answers to my questions, so I tried to sit up.
"Don't!" The woman suddenly used her hand to press me down, a perfect way to stop me.
I lifted my brows to ask her the reason behind her actions, but the woman suddenly fed me the water gently.
My blurry eyes were now cleared, so I was able to stare at the woman. The woman should be in her thirties estimating her small, cute, and beautiful face.
"Who are you?" My voice came out in a hoarse whisper. "And where's here? Did I die or not?" I asked.
"You're exactly like Stanley." The woman muttered with a smile while staring at me with a fond look that shouldn't be given to a stranger.
I was more confused because this woman's words weren't helping in any way. Who's Stanley? And what did she mean?
I was about to ask her, but she beat me to it, "I'm Cynthia Morgan, the queen of the blue lycandom and most importantly, your real mom." The woman... I meant, Cynthia told me which made my expression change in amusement.
"Did you just say, Mom? Or did I hear you wrong?" I laughed in amusement.
I had just discovered that Mrs. Heather wasn't my mom but now another woman who introduced herself as Cynthia Morgan is now claiming to be my mother.
What's wrong with everyone? Or am I the one going crazy? I decided to pretend as if I didn't hear her words, "Hm. Excuse me, Miss Cynthia. Is this heaven? Am I dead?" I silently asked, and her face fell, which was likely due to the fact that I ignored her response.
"No, you're not dead." Despite her vivid sadness, she still replied to me, but her reply shocked me.
I wasn't dead? How come? That's impossible! I clearly fell from the top of the cliff and I landed head-first. Moreover, the last image I saw was my blood filling behind me, so how's that possible?
"Stanley, your dad and the current king of the blue lycandom saw you when you fell headfirst and brought you home after discovering your identity," Cynthia replied, which made me guess that what I was thinking had been blurted out by me.
"So you meant you were my mom. And, my father was the one to save me?" I asked calmly while trying hard to suppress my chaotic thoughts and Cynthia nodded to me which almost made me scoff.
"So you expected me to believe that you, a stranger who appeared from nowhere, was my mom. And more importantly, your husband, which you claimed to be my father, happened to see me when I fell headfirst, how's this even possible?" I retorted sharply.
Cynthia's calm expression broke and tears pooled in her eyes. Her hurt expression stabbed my heart, but I tried to ignore it.
After all, I had just witnessed many incidents that changed my life upside down yesterday, so it would be crazy if I decided to believe her words.
Cynthia's hand moved toward my hand, and she took hold of it. "Listen, baby..."
I removed my hand from her grasp and shook my head fiercely. "I'm sorry no. I don't want to listen to your words. How do you expect me to believe you, especially when my life has just been turned into a mess? Do you know what happened to me? My real parents turned out not to be my parents only for you to tell me you're my mother? After all, I went through, do you expect me to believe anyone? No!" I remarked sharply which made her expression pale.
"I know you and your husband saved me, but that was the worst decision ever. I really wanted to die, why did you have to save me?" I yelled at her which made her take steps back with her expression turning paler. I think she was frightened. Honestly, if I was in her state, I would be.
"Thank you for saving me, I'll find ways to repay you later once I'm out of here..."
"You're leaving?" The woman asked me with disbelief. She took steps toward me while shaking her head in determination. "We... Are your parents... I'm not lying to you..."
I scoffed loudly at her. "So, you expect me to believe you. If I could remember clearly you introduce yourself as the queen of lycandom which means you're related to Lycan, right? Just take a look at me, I'm nothing but a powerless human. Ever since I was born, I had never felt any trace of a wolf, how's it possible that I'm a lycan? If you don't mind..."
"How dare you talk to your mother like that?" An angry voice suddenly boomed in the room.
