Chapter 3 Can't we just ignore it

Xavier quickly released his grip on Nadira's shoulder when

he saw Anita, who was now standing silently in the doorway, looking at them

with a questioning gaze.

"What are you doing?" That was the question Anita

asked when she saw her husband and Nadira alone in the room. Although it wasn't

necessary for Anita to inquire, as it was perfectly normal for her husband to

spend time alone with his second wife, for some reason, just thinking about it

made something very painful well up inside her.

Initially, Anita had wanted to accept Xavier being with

Nadira, but after facing the reality, it turned out to be extremely difficult.

Anita could only clench her fists, feeling the pain she was now experiencing.

Even though Anita also clearly saw how surprised her husband, Xavier, was, who

then immediately approached her when he saw that his wife was still motionless.

"I was just making sure that she was properly treated

by Irfan," Xavier replied, making Anita look at Nadira for a moment, and

Nadira looked back at her silently.

"But I saw Irfan leave a while ago, and he also said

that he had treated her properly. That's why I followed you here," Anita

replied, making Xavier feel wrong for staying too long in this room. "I

just wanted to make sure that she takes her medicine correctly, that's

all," Xavier added. However, when Anita was about to respond further,

Xavier gently held her shoulder.

"Let's leave it. Besides, she's perfectly fine now.

Shall we go home instead? I've had enough of this party," Xavier suggested,

making Anita pause for a moment before nodding. They left Nadira alone in the

room.

Xavier put his arm around Anita's shoulder, even though he

knew his wife was still somewhat upset with him. However, Xavier knew how to

soothe Anita's gentle heart.

"Are you sure you want to go back to our

house?" Anita asked, making Xavier stop and face her before nodding.

"Yes, of course. Where else would I go?" Xavier

asked, making Anita sigh deeply.

"Hasn't your grandmother prepared a new

home for you?" Anita added, making Xavier realize that it was still their

wedding day, and he would have to consider the feelings of both Anita and

Nadira going forward.

"So what should I do? What do you want right now?"

Xavier asked, making Anita fall silent. Of course, if she followed her heart,

Anita wanted to go home with her husband to their house, where it would just be

the two of them. However, that wouldn't be easy, as her grandmother might not

allow Xavier to leave Nadira.

"You know what kind of answer you're going to hear.

It's your wedding day. How could you marry Nadira and come home with me?"

Anita replied, making Xavier close his eyes and then pull Anita into his

embrace.

"Can't we just ignore it? Haven't I done what I had to

do? I married her, and that's done, right?" Xavier said, making Anita

shake her head.

"It's not just that. There's a lot more you have to do.

Remember, they don't just want Nadira to enter your big family, but also an

heir. And that won't happen immediately if you two just marry like this without

being together," Anita said, finally making Xavier release his embrace.

"Okay, okay, I'll visit her occasionally, but not

today. I'm really exhausted, and I want to be with you. Can I take a break and

enjoy some quiet time with you? Can we just ignore them, okay?" Xavier

said, giving assurance to Anita, who finally nodded in agreement.

"Okay, then let's go home now. But remember, in the

future, be careful," Anita said, as Xavier led his wife side by side.

"Do I also have to be fair?" Xavier asked, making

Anita tilt her head for a moment before falling silent.

"I don't know if I like that phrase or not. But from

your family's point of view, of course, you have to be fair," Anita

replied, making Xavier smile. Xavier understood his wife's wishes, as it was

difficult for Anita to see her husband with another woman.

"Yes, I'll do my best, but I can't promise to always be

fair. Anyway, let's stop talking about me, you, and her. Didn't you allow

ourselves to rest?" Xavier said, making Anita finally nod without

answering, showing that she wanted to stop the topic and enjoy time with her

husband.

They immediately left for the back door after Anita

instructed one of the servants to check on Nadira's condition. Xavier turned

off his phone and Anita's phone. They wanted to enjoy time together without any

interruptions. Xavier was sure that a few minutes after they left the party,

people like his grandmother, his father, or the head secretary would try to

contact them, wondering why they left Nadira alone there.

Xavier then turned to Anita, who had already fallen asleep

beside him in the car. Even though he had been the one whining about tiredness

earlier, Anita looked even more tired than him now. Xavier smiled and let Anita

sleep until they arrived home.

As Xavier looked at the road that was starting to get dark,

he was disturbed by Nadira's words. He didn't know what expression Nadira had

shown, and he couldn't read that woman's mind. Xavier pondered why Nadira had

left the happiness he had intended. His mind continued to churn until they

arrived home.

Xavier got out of the car and carefully opened the door,

seeing Anita still sound asleep. He knew that in this state, it was better not

to disturb his wife's sleep. Xavier decided to cradle Anita gently. Anita

shifted in his embrace and eventually nestled against his chest. Xavier smiled.

Anita always did this when she slept, clutching him tightly, and Xavier always

felt warm and enjoyed her scent.

After that, Xavier carried Anita inside their residence.

Some servants who saw them seemed somewhat surprised, but Xavier didn't care

about their feelings. "Sir," greeted the head servant, and Xavier

looked at him.

"Please prepare Anita's favorite meal for dinner

tonight," Xavier said, surprising the head servant. They might have

thought that Xavier wouldn't return home on his wedding day, but Xavier paid no

mind to their assumptions.

"Is it only Mrs. Anita's favorite food, Sir?" the

head servant asked, and Xavier nodded in response.

"Yes, of course, because I can eat anything, and I also

like Anita's favorite food, so I want dinner tonight to be dedicated to my

wife," Xavier said, but the head servant still looked at him with a

puzzled expression, perhaps because his orders weren't entirely understood or there

were other thoughts they had.

"Why, is there something else you want to ask?"

Xavier asked, making the head servant tilt his head slightly, indicating there

was another question.

"What about Miss?" the head servant inquired,

causing Xavier to furrow his brows.

"Miss who?" Xavier asked, only to turn around when

he suddenly saw Nadira standing behind him with a suitcase. Xavier didn't know

when Nadira had appeared behind him, and he was surprised.

Xavier sighed and decided to address the situation. "Listen,

Nadira, I understand you might have your reasons, but this isn't the right

place or time for you to be following us around," he said sternly.

Nadira met his gaze with a hint of defiance. "What do

you expect me to do, Xavier? You left me alone, and I didn't know what else to

do. I followed the car, hoping to find some answers," she replied, her

voice tinged with frustration.

Xavier's expression softened slightly, realizing that Nadira

might indeed be feeling lost in this complicated situation. "Look, I

appreciate that you're concerned, but it's better if you stay here for now.

I'll sort things out with my family," he suggested.

Nadira didn't seem convinced. "And what if they don't

want me here? What if they want me to leave?"

Xavier sighed again, unsure of how to handle the situation.

"We'll deal with that if it happens. But for now, please stay in the guest

room. I'll talk to my family, and then we'll figure out the next steps

together," he explained.

Nadira nodded reluctantly, realizing that she might not have

much of a choice. Xavier turned to lead her to one of the guest rooms, hoping

to settle this matter before it escalated further.

"And you should be thankful that I followed you. I

can't imagine how your family would react if you left your bride alone in her

room with an injury on her leg. Wouldn't that cause a big problem for

you?" Nadira said, leaving Xavier momentarily speechless.

"I will handle that issue on my own, so you don't need

to dwell on it too much. I also won't thank you just for what you did. It's

best if you leave this house now because I don't want to make Anita

uncomfortable," Xavier replied, causing Nadira to grow frustrated.

"So you're kicking me out. Where should I go?"

Nadira asked, making Xavier glare at her.

"Didn't Grandma provide a house for you? You can stay

there. Why did you follow?" Xavier responded, causing Nadira to let out a

long sigh.

"And right now, Grandma is at our new home. She's

waiting for us. Unfortunately, I can't go alone. That's why I kindly picked you

up to go to our new home. How about it?" Nadira replied, making Xavier

widen his eyes.

"What? Why did Grandma go to the new house? Shouldn't

she be resting? Moreover, her condition isn't that great to welcome newlyweds,

is it?" Xavier said, making Nadira shrug indifferently. She then

approached her suitcase and began pulling it slowly.

"I'll wait in the car for five minutes, no more. If

not, I'll go alone, and you'll have to face the consequences if Grandma happens

to be angry with you," Nadira said before truly leaving, leaving Xavier in

silence. Xavier rubbed his face roughly. If this was about his Grandma, he

couldn't just stay quiet, especially since his Grandma was already at their new

home.

Xavier returned to the second floor, where their room was

located. Anita was still fast asleep, and Xavier checked the time on his

wristwatch. Time was running out, and if he took too long, Nadira would surely

bring it up again. That could affect Anita, and Xavier didn't want that. Xavier

summoned the head servant.

"I need to go. Prepare dinner for Anita and say I have

urgent business if I'm late," Xavier said, leaving the head servant

somewhat puzzled by the situation his master was in.

"And if Madam asks where you're going, what should I

say?" the head servant asked, causing Xavier to pause for a moment.

"Tell her I'm taking care of some outside matters, and

hopefully, Anita is still asleep when I return later, because I'll handle it

quickly," Xavier said, making the head servant nod. Xavier rushed out of

the house without changing out of his wedding attire. He spotted the white car

parked behind his black one, where Nadira was already waiting inside.

"You're five minutes late," Nadira said when

Xavier got in, her jaw clenched.

"I didn't want to waste any more time, so let's go now.

I have to be back before dinner and before Anita wakes up," Xavier said,

then started the car's engine and sped off. Nadira simply shrugged.
