Chapter 5 Love Hate Affair

The elevator at the office had been messing up for weeks.Shortly after Riley got into the elevator with Ellen's son Judy,Bryan followed.Ellen works as a janitor where Riley works.Bryan greeted Riley but she just responded with a nod.Two minutes in the elevator, it stopped and the light was cut,Bryan began to become uneasy.Riley took out her phone and turned on her phone light."Hahahaha are you scared?, Miss Riley he's scared",the little boy made fun of Bryan.Riley immediately remembered how scared Bryan is of the dark and started to giggle.

"Ummm Riles,you don't by any chance know how to fix an elevator do you?" Bryan asked, but still trying so hard not to look scared.Riley said no. "Hey little buddy,you must be scared huh,let me hold your hands until the light comes okay? you'll be safe with me".Riley couldn't hold back her laughter.She laughed out so hard and bumped into Bryan's arms,they gazed lovingly into each other's eyes for some few seconds just before the Fire department came to rescue them from the elevator.Riley rushed immediately to the washroom, looked at her reflection in the mirror and told herself to snap out of it.She realised old memories and feelings were rushing back and she wasn't up for it.She went into Bryan's office to give him a contract to sign but he told her he had an appointment with someone,he would sign it as soon as he's back.Riley was curious what appointment would he be going to outside the office but she didn't bother to ask.Just as she turned around,a lady walked in and Bryan got up to give her a kiss on the cheeks."Hey Riley meet Heather my ummm date,Heather meet Riley our Marketing Manager",Bryan said. Both of them exchanged pleasantries and went their way.With a hint of jealousy on her face , Riley could never accept she was starting to develop feelings again for Bryan.She slapped herself again and told herself to snap out of it. Working hours were over and Riley thought she was the only one at the office.She heard a strange noise and she got scared for a minute.She picked up a gulf club at her office and followed the noise.She realised the noise was coming from Bryan's office so she went so she went closer and opened the door but no one was there,just then someone started opening the washroom door and Riley raised the gulf club ready for attack as soon as the door opened."Whoa! Whoa! Riles it's me,easy easy"uttered Bryan in shock. "You know I really think I should just hit you with the club,what are you doing?,aren't you supposed to be on a date rightnow?"Riley furiously said.Bryan told her he had left the dinner date early because he found out they had nothing in common.Riley looked over at Bryan and shook her head,she saw a scar on Bryan's hand which he got from high school and they started reminiscing.Hearts were beating,time stood still,passion consumed them like a raging fire,Riley's belly started rumbling reminding her of an old flame.Bryan moved closer and moved Riley's hair behind her ears,then both of them couldn't resist locking their lips together,they kissed passionately like never before.A few seconds of them kissing,Riley pulled back and punched Bryan in the belly."How dare you huh?,how dare you kiss me,oh I see it's just fate repeating itself again huh,I'm the new Ashley huh?,you left your dinner date to come here and kiss me?, "Unbelievable,absolutely unbelievable".These were Riley's words.In pain from the punch, Ryan rumbled,Riles I told you nothing happened between Ashley and I,I was just as surprised as you are when she kissed me".Riley walked away from Bryan's office without stopping to listen,in her mind men were just the same,and she never again wants to be the punching bag of any man,she will never settle for less or allow any man to make a fool out of her.Later that night in his apartment,Bryan realised how much he still lived Riley,old feelings and memories started rushing back and he recalled the kiss Riley and him shared at the office and completely forgetting he was still in pain from the punch.
