Or could it be that they weren't here to terrozie his employees and they were only here for her, Lyra. The policeman had said that she would now be their utmost target and they're most likely here to eliminate her today.
"TELL US WHERE LYRA IS!" She heard an angry, hoarse voice demand harshly from outside and her heart instantly skipped a beat. They were indeed here for her. All the hairs on her skin stood on her head as her heart beat mirrored a thumping drum.
These men were for her. They were going to kill her.
By the way, where was Stone? His only job was to protect her against attacks like this and at the most crucial time of need, he's no where to be found. On his first day! Lyra was terrified, she knew she had a bad feeling about Stone; his only good quality were his looks, how can he fail at this very important time?
Just then, the door burst open-or rather, went flying out of it's hinges and Lyra's blood ran cold and she began trembling underneath the table. She tried to still herself so they won't know she was in there, and she hoped it was working.
"Where is she?" The scarily bold voice questioned immediately they stepped into the office. Lyra instantly recognized that voice as one that belonged to one of the men that killed her boss. Her apprehension tripled at that.
She was silently praying to her gods that she won't be found, she wished that a miracle would suddenly happen and she would be saved.
"Ha! I see her under the table!" Another one of the men pointed out and Lyra's eyes widened, how where they able to spot her? She swallowed down nothing and started sweating profusely. Every step the men took towards her, she felt the frightful rhythm deep in her heart.
One of them pushed her table aside and the force he had used caused the table to rumble over-yes, tumble over. Everything on the table came crashing down, including her computer system with shattered into pieces. And then they saw their target, the petite blonde woman curled up and shaking like a leaf.
"Grab her!" The one who seemed like their leader commanded and his subordinate grabbed Lyra by her ponytail and yanked her up to her feet. She yelled in terror and pain.
"P–please. Don't hurt me, I beg you." Her hands clasped together as she begged for mercy. Their leader eye's noticed something- or someone, in the distance and then he simply smirked and slowly reached for his backpocket and what he brought out was a a revolver gun.
Lyra gasped in fear as the man cocked in gun. Her orality was lost and her tongue tied in fear, she couldn't even find the words to beg anymore. And then, he fired the gun.
Lyra shut her eyes, preparing herself to welcome the bullet and feel the sharp, piercing pain of it's entrance but moments passed and she felt nothing. She gradually opened her eyes to see that she was still alive we hadn't been shot, neither where any of the gunmen. So had gotten shot?
She turned around to look and what she saw made her eyes widen, it was her co–worker.
"Next time, you learn to not try to call the cops." The leader said and then fired another bullet at the co–worker who was already emerged in his pool of blood.
The sight of how hasty they were with their gun skyrocketed Lyra's fear over the fence and in that moment, she knew it was over for her as the leader aimed the gun at her.
She shut her eyes again, this time she was fully expectant of what was to come. When she heard the gunshot sohnd, she expected to feel the rush of raw pain but she felt nothing again. With furrowed brows, she opened her eyes, wondering who the gunmen had shot now...
But she was met with an interesting surprise, it was one the gunman that was shot. By Stone! The leader with the gun was on the floor now, a bullet engraved in his leg and he had blood gushing out of the spot.
The other two men sprang into action to attack Stone-one of them being the one who grabbed Lyra, he had set her free as he rushed to fight with Stone. Before any of them could land a shot on him, he brought out another gun from his pocket and shot the two men down immediately.
Then he rushed over and grabbed Lyra by her hand and started leading her out of the office.
"What are you doing?"
"There are so many of Adam's men in this office complex, not just those three. And they're all looking for you. We need to get you out of here immediately."
Lyra nodded and followed after Stone as they ran out of the office building and Stone effortlessly defended her, shooting down any threat that came close to her.

Stone took the wheels of Lyra's car and he was driving her to a safe house. He figured that Lyra was no longer safe in that town and she won't be returning back to her office place nor her previous apartment. So they quickly went back to her place, packed up a few stuff and now Stone was taking her to a safe house.
They've been driving for about an hour now, and not a word has been said between any of them. Lyra's thoughts were scattered about in her head space, she had a million questions that she needed a million answers too. And the silence was killing her!
Lyra groaned in frustration, "Stone, I know you know something about all of this. Tell me everything now." Lyra strongly demanded from him.
Stone looked away from the road and then he casted those eyes of his on Lyra. She felt some amount of her brazenness melt away being underneath his parching gaze. Stone stared at Lyra without saying a word, just looking down at her with his cold–as–icicle eyes and then he returned back to concentrating on driving.
She sighed pathetically. Did she really think he would tell her anything? But she really needed answers, the explanation they have her at the police station sounded vague and she knew it wasn't the full st-
