Chapter 9 Freaks

Aaron may only be 5 but he's one strong puppy and when he gets mad, he's not afraid to show it.

"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" the crowd of kids were cheering.

Miss Leah, one of the pack teachers, runs toward the commotion in the lunchroom.

"What's going on?! Stop fighting now!" she looked at the two boys now separated by other kids.

Aaron was huffing and his eyes were gleaming an electrifying amber. Everyone stared and whispered.

"What's wrong with his eyes?"

"Oh my gosh!"

"What's wrong with him?"

"I've never seen that before!"

The other boy, Jared, was frozen when he noticed Aaron's eyes. No one has ever seen them shine like that.

Idalia has come to Aaron's aid. "Are you ok?! What happened?" she examines him as he is still staring at Jared, heaving and his eyes still blazing. Idalia realizes his eyes are different, like hers, and hugs him helping him calm.

"Let's go boys." Miss Leah walks them to the office, Idalia accompanying them.

They all sit with Miss Leah at the head of the table. "Tell me what happened Aaron."

Blinking a couple times, Aaron explains "Jared tripped me because I'm faster than he is. He called me a freak, so I tackled him." Aaron clenches his fists, but Idalia pats his arm and smiles relaxing him.

Miss Leah looks at Jared "Is that what happened, Jared?"

He rapidly shakes his head. "NO! I did not!" Jared shouts and looks at Aaron "and you are NOT faster than me!"

Aaron's eyes begin to flare amber again. Jared gasps and see's that Idalia's eyes are raging lilac gold in protection of her little brother.

"See! They're both freaks! Just look!" Jared screams pointing at them.

Miss Leah slams her fist on the table "Enough Jared! You don't speak that way about others! And you do not fight outside of training! Do you understand?" She peers at him.

"But-." Jared stammers.

"DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" She repeats.

Jared looks down "Yes."

"All of you back to class." She coldly states as she stands trying to keep a level head of what just happened.

Idalia walks Aaron to class making sure he's ok. After school they don't go to training but go to the pack house instead.

Camila is cleaning the kitchen when she sees then enter. "Idalia? Aaron? Why aren't you two training? Is everything ok?" They climb on the stools at the kitchen island and look at each other slightly frowning. "Miss Camila?" Idalia asks, "Why are we different?" she's holding Aaron's hand and they look lost. "Oh honey, what do you mean?" knowing exactly what she means. She sighs "Let me make you two some food." Giving them a soft smile as she prepares them a snack.

"You both are very special children. Yes, you are different, but it doesn't make you any less important." Setting plates in front of them. "Ok?"

"I wish it didn't make me feel like a weirdo." Aaron mumbles.

Idalia frowns then elbows him "Hey what's wrong with being a weirdo? I'm a weirdo!" she laughs.

It made him smile at least.

Camila leans on the counter looking at them "Just talk to your dad, ok? Ask him your questions. He will listen." She smiles.

They continue chatting as they finish eating.
