After our studies in the morning and lunch we all go to training. It's exhausting but I'm getting stronger and faster. Aaron seems to be catching up to me but I'm still in the lead. He is my best friend, and we have each other's back. We don't really know much about our mom. No one will tell us, but I try not to let it distract me.
"Hey Aaron? Wanna go race in the woods?" with a wicked grin I see him nodding. "Let's go!" I take off not waiting and he shouts "Hey not fair! I wasn't ready!"
My long rose gold hair whips behind me as I disappear into the dense forest with Aaron on my tail.
"You can't catch me, Aaron!" my voice echoes as I pounce off tree after tree running faster. I feel my adrenaline grow when it thrusts me upward into the branches. "Holy crap!! Aaron!!"
"Idalia where are you?!" Aaron shouts walking below me as I look down from the limb above him. "Hey!"
He looks up "How'd you get up there Adi?!" that's what most have grown to call me.
"I have no idea! I just ran and ran and jumping off trees like we always do then BAM! Next thing I see I'm in this tree!" laughing at myself still in disbelief I jump down hitting the forest floor almost shaking the ground.
"Superhero landing! Superhero landing!" Aaron yells laughing as I stand.
"Shut up!" I grin.
We hear branches cracking and people whispering as they are getting closer. Aaron and I crouch beside each other looking around.
"What do we do?" Aaron whispering to me. I can hear the fear in his voice.
"It's ok. I got you. Stay down and do what I say." Aaron is very smart, so he knows to follow my lead.
We slowly stay squatted and maneuver around the trees. I grab Aaron's hand stopping him when we are approached by humans with guns. Their odor rolls off them making it known to the pack that they are on our land.
We stood and I pushed Aaron behind me. Their voices were deep and raspy. One of them asked us if we are lost.
"What are you kids doing out here all alone?" he asked.
"We don't have time for this shit." Another one of them snapped in a gravelly voice.
"But they're just kids. Let's take them with us." One behind us said.
The man facing us saw my eyes flicker lilac gold when my defenses activated. That's when he shouted, "THEY'RE NOT HUMAN!" and they all pointed their guns at us.
The man with the gravelly voice grabbed Aaron "Grab her and we'll tie them up."
"This might just work out in our favor." Another one laughed. "Instead of moving in on them, now they'll come to us." Evil contorted his face.
I could hear Aaron crying and it angered me that I couldn't kill these shitheads! They tied our hands and ankles and threw us behind a tree.
"Aaron it will be ok." I whispered to him calmly. "I promise ok." I leaned against him trying to emit comfort onto him. I glowered at them wishing I had my wolf.
